My great grandfather RW Case painted the Wharf in 1920. We have been here as one of the original families for 8 generations. 4 at Santa Cruz High. Graduates span from 1928 to 2021, almost 100 years. Thanks for the video, Godspeed
greetings, thank you for your absolute honesty. As a former local, I can say you really captured both the positives and negatives of this beautiful town. In my opinion, the drug addiction mixed with the soft approach to law enforcement has created a situation where comfortable family living is not an option. Also the truth is, unless you have a very very rich relative, living here is going to be very difficult. Thank you for the very nice and scenic video. Blessings to you :)
Born and raised in SC! I’m 34. Glad you love it too:) great video!! I used to manage Bunnys Shoes on Pacific Ave. Do you know the store? You passed it and showed the hat store next door lol.
I arrived in Santa cruz from Mexico city just 2 weeks before the 89 earthquaque! I lived in this magic city for almost 7 years. Yes It is very expensive, weird an unique.
Lived in Santa Cruz for 20 years it’s gone way down hill. Turned into a massive shithole.a lot of Homeless, massive drug problems, gangs ect. The beach is nice but it doesn’t help u when u live in the actual part of Santa Cruz where housing is located. It’s horrible every morning Id be kicking out homeless on my porch while there shooting up and pooping in the street/ sidewalk. Only the rich live in the nice areas near the beaches and even there the homeless roam. I decided to move to the Santa Cruz mountains. One of the Best decision I’ve ever made
It's expensive to to live there, but so beautiful. When I was younger I stayed there, but then family moved and now I can't afford to move back. Great video
I miss Santa Cruz so much 😞 I’m from aptos and I had to move to Los Angeles on 2011 , it sucks so polluted and people are so rude here too. Hope I get to move back soon.
I’m moving to CA in a few months, since I will work in Los Gatos. I was thinking about moving to Santa Cruz but because of the high cost now I’m not sure. What would you recommend for living around there? I love nature and peaceful. Thank youuuuu
Yes Santa Cruz as they share of homeless like any town and we have durg problem like any place in the United States . Santa Cruz has very beauty people's . I feel very safe in Santa Cruz . Betty Jean
Don't be enamored with Cowell beach, sewage plant close by. Also the San Lorenzo river dumps by there and I have hiked the creeks/rivers in the SLV "mountains" and the amount of raw sewage from leaking septic tanks is putrid. I would not walk a dog anywhere near there! And Capitola beach is just as nasty a biohazard. Been a local since 63 Good day
Our most prevalent crimes are property damage and petty theft. Physical battery occurs primarily at night in that area near pacific ave where she is. Referring to downtown, Pacific ave is a main st. Also, there are robberies near the Boardwalk as well. San Lorenzo park and the River levee also. Most other areas are safe. You don't want to leave cars unlocked or valuables unattended. We have a fair amount of meth users that are usually harmless but steal to support their habit. Happy to report that violent crime is way down. If you get off the streets by 10pm, you're usually pretty safe.
Please please please don't come here right now just stay home until we get out of this pandemic there’s enough people spreading covid from other places here already

maybe move to one of the towns near santa cruz? they'll be a bit cheaper and the forests are beautiful! (and less tourists)
moving too! looking for a roommate
Felton is nestled in the trees about 15 minutes from the beach by auto. A little cheaper to rent.

Man, the local businesses have really been driven out by big business. SC used to be so much more magical. ☹️
No jobs?? There are SO many job opportunities in Santa Cruz. Those who don't work is because they're lazy. But there are SO MANY job opportunities
