I used to think writer's block meant you were out of ideas. BUT! I think writer's block means you can't get the groove back, especially back into the same story, you're distracted with life. Resistance is a good word for it. Being a creative is a process, I always have tons of procrastination prior to a creative breakthrough. I'm just shy of the halfway mark and yeah, I'm getting anxious about it too!!

There are many different variations of writing resistance (what I‘d use instead if block when talking to writing coaching clients)

I love how you visual your future self and how good it will feel to have gotten XYZ done. Back in April I met a friend who would say "Future Beth will thank me" and so now I have adopted that for myself. So, when I am resistant to getting something done I tell myself "Future Sam will thank me for doing this" and I will get it done.

I am not a writer, but I follow Sarra for her HB90 program and I wanted to watch this video because I have a lot of resistance toward my own activities and goals. I love the idea of journaling and visualization to pump me up!

The beauty of NaNoWriMo is we can complete our rough draft and we could always change it later! You can revise your writing but, not a blank page!

I listen/watch your videos all the time, even your old ones, because they are so calming and inspiring to me! It's nice to be reminded if life happens and you don't get as much writing done as you planned, it's ok. It will happen when it's meant to. And love the real life bits as well with the cleaning and organization. I cleaned my whole room and you were right, I felt so much better and got more done after!

I so feel this! Thanks for sharing. I think its important to remember that taking the time to think, meditate, journal or whatever it looks like is part of the process though it doesn't up the word count at that moment maybe but I truly think it does in the long run and it is still work even if it doesn't feel like it it can be a very important part of the process for some people and should not be discounted so well done! Also I love your blanket.

You're doing great Sarra! I've been using your Nano vlogs as my meditation/motivation at the start of each day and it's been great following along with your journey. I don't know what it is but does anyone else feel that November has just become one of the busiest months? I swear I have been thrown in more work than ever, friends are visiting tomorrow, doctor's appointments have happened this month...and they expect me to write 50K on top of that?! haha I guess the take away is to take the 50K as a goal not a necessity. Whatever it amounts to at the end will be progress regardless. Currently on 16K let's go!

I think that’s why I tend to not look at the NaNoWriMo manuscript until January or February. I’ve done this three years in a row. I think I burn myself during NaNoWriMo. I have more of game plan for December this year. I’m still going to take a couple weeks off, but it will not go untouched for 2-3 months.

Aww you and Evie in the matching outfits - my heart! Congrats to Andrew on a full baseball season :) Glad everyone had a great time!
I never ever thought to envision my MC before (even weirder knowing she and I are the same enneagram type and subtype (sexual / one-to-one 4 btw). The more you know.
Will definitely be doing that today and moving forward to get the word machine going again! Thanks Sarra :)

Just a quick plug for Wonderland 222. I decided to go with them over Hobonichi Cousin just because I felt like the undated dailies made more sense to me. Anyway, I ordered the all-in-on and a notebook and a clear cover but I didn't catch it that I had ordered the wrong size clear cover that wouldn't fit either product. The owner emailed me herself and asked if I meant to order that size and if not she would make it right. Like.... talk about customer service! So I think they are both great, but Wonderland has a loyal customer now because that was above and beyond. Most folks would have just sent the products ordered not double check the receipt to make sure everything lined up.

I really like the Wonderland 222 planners. I just purchased my first one in October for 2024 and I think it's going to work great as my work planner. The original stacked layout is perfect for me. I've been going through the whole process of evaluating my systems this year as well. It takes time but extremely worth it.

Object in motion stays in motion - Yes! I've had some low-word-count days so far this month, but I have managed to make sure I've done at least one writing sprint a day just so I don't lose that momentum. Week 2 is always rough for me, I'm hoping to come into my second wind now it's out of the way.
Glad to hear the headache's improved/gone

Kids sports are crazy, 7:40 start! That's too late for me as an adult 😀 I've been trying to journal when feeling stuck and before writing to set intention and to get in the right headspace, I think you had suggested it in a prior video and it's been so helpful! Always grateful for your tips

Do you only visualize your main character, or do you visualize whichever character is next up for writing? Especially for this book, with so many POV characters.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  8 месяцев назад +4

Good question. I will visualize whichever character is my next POV character and try to get inside their head, hear their voice, feel what they're feeling for where we are in the story.

Don't judge the words yet. Easy for me to say, I know, but you're not a fair judge of them at this stage. Right now is about getting it on the page, then you'll deal with it all in revisions.

Consider the following (just heart me, I don't need an answer.)... 11:07 Dad throws to Andrew's open glove. When Dad raises his glove, Andrew throws to the other side and Dad has to take a step and grab for the ball. Is Andrew throwing to the other side on purpose? Or is hitting the target something he's working on? This maybe why he's not getting hits. Maybe his eyes need checking or his depth of field is off. 💖🌞🌵😷
