In this model, you only need two sketches and work with sheet metal: one sketch from above describes the entire shape on this plane, the other sketch is created on a bend. No chamfers needed, everything is set up in sheet metal and done in half the time.

Jesus this took me forever! Tried doing it without help just from the first frame sketch, and I sure need more practice sketching lol.

did you first click on the sketch to select it? otherwise it wouldnt work

SolidworksTutorials Thanks for the response. Yes, I clicked it... but thankfully I'm able to finish doing this video. It seems that every time I apply extruded cut to a sketch I am not able to reuse it for the extruded boss, I cannot highlight its contours because it says "the sketch has both open and closed contours". What do you think is the problem? I was only able to finish this video by doing again the same sketch on the face of the feature then applying extruded boss. My method seems to be tedious, but if you know the problem please let me know... God bless you and your tutorials!

@@dustincasillan8730 Well look Dustin, you either do have an open sketch or more likely, your sketch is closed BUT there is an extra piece of tiny line hanging somewhere in your sketch that you have to zoom really hard to see it. the best way to find out if that is the case is to use the feature called "Repair Sketch" on the sketch tab. because an open sketch is on its own not the problem. you have my word for that

this is not a beginner's tutorial as this is a more advanced as you are drawing a voice over explaining what is being done and using one method of doing this task rather than showing the 15 or more ways it can be done would truly be of value. Yes I understand this is a very complicated and detailed program but as a rank beginner it would really help to find a method of working within the suite of tools that is consistent before I start branching out to find other ways to preform a task once I know how to get around

You have a point. I will implement this in future videos and changed this one's name to Intermediate.
