    Shame these guys had to take an original '56 Chevy convertible only to end up with an all aftermarket car. They could have just scratch-built the car with the repro and aftermarket parts available. And some people wonder why I don't sell my cars to just anyone.

    New body new chassis, am I missing something or is this a new car with one or two old parts? It's like the axe I've owned for fifty years it's just had four new handles and thee new heads.

      It's a brand new car with all the modern up grads, there's a company in San Francisco that builds 1932-34 brand new Ford's they build about 8 car's a year with all the up grades like a modern car. BB king bought one Gorge Lucous bought one Clint Eastwood and many more people are on waiting list. There are many Auto build shops custom car shops I tried to visit most of them everything from huge shops to small 3 car garage shop's.

    neat that they build new classic cars, but do they really have to destroy an old one for the vin every time?

    Anyone else notice that none of these infomercials, disguised as a "rebuild", has a parts list with the prices of all this crap? Or mentions the man-hours of labor it takes to assemble it? Not to mention that, no matter how skilled you are, you couldn't do it yourself without all the specialized tools and jigs they use? This is just a series of advertisements, built WITHOUT a budget, that would be impossible for any sane person to attempt to do themselves. In short, they might love this car at SEMA, but you can't afford one.

    A convertible does not have a package tray. That panel should be called, "panel above the trunk lid' or 'panel between the backlite and trunk".

  • @danielrivera5858

    so i was going to ask but someone kind of beat me to it i guess you need to use the vin thats on the vehicle itself without a vin you cant do this kind of build right?

    • @scootermike8003
      @scootermike8003 6 лет назад

      daniel rivera ...... Basically the only reason they buy the original car is to get the VIN and title. Pretty much everything else is tossed out and replaced. Rarely is anything repaired and reused. The show is meant to showcase the suppliers. I at least hope they resale the parts that are usable.

    • @tomdupaul8668
      @tomdupaul8668 6 лет назад

      You can do this without starting with a real car. Replica builders of cobras , t buckets, etc...do it all the time. And in my state you can title it no problem. I think this show is just to showcase the replacement parts suppliers.

    I guess you have way up Labor cost time and effort I do t see why they brought an old car at all could you not just buy a set off tags from a wreckers but it is amazing to see the quality off the after market parts and quality it bolted together so easy

  • @ericlambert7193
    @ericlambert7193 5 лет назад +1

    So.....
    You bought the original car just for the title and the VIN numbers?

    • @realdealsteel567
      @realdealsteel567  5 лет назад +1

      The original car was purchased to restore. After it was discovered how rough the body was, it was replaced with a new RDS body.

      If I wanted to build a car with a more modern frame and one of your bodies. would I need an original car for the VIN number and title or could I title that car like it is in the state of Florida?
      I'm very interested in building a car but every car that I find in the 70 or 60s normally needs an entire body maybe the firewalls good.

      You're right, but it demands skill and expensive tools. I'm thinking about learning the art and buying some tools. I live in Brazil and here we have real good bodyman. Look for Alexandre Salzano on You Tube.

    Dan, I love your show. Very informative great visuals great chatting but whoever is writing the jokes for the TV show needs to back off. I'm pretty sure that most people that watch this show aren't watching it for the jokes. It's just my opinion but you can take it for whatever it's worth. I watch a lot of different car shows and motorcycle shows and the thing that drives me nuts is the dumb jokes. I guess these writers think they're being clever that's why they get paid the big bucks

    Why buy a convertible only to build a new one? What a waste. All you did was show us you need to spend thousands and thousands to build a car. Hey get real 95% of us are not building a car like that. All you guys did was waste a car that someone would have rebuilt. Your show is nothing but selling high dollar parts that most of us cannot afford. The show is becoming unrealistic. How about just rebuilding a car that needs a few panels and use low buck parts.

  • @jackhowland112

    Randy Irwin and Joe Whitaker from the old Classic Chevy Intl Orlando? Nice having a new body but this is the lazy mans way out of work. News Flash! All the panels to repair original body are sold today as you know

  • @cheerkidscheerleading4357
    @cheerkidscheerleading4357 3 года назад

    In my opinion you guys killed 56 convertible. That body should of been restored. Isn't that the point of restoring a classic car and saving it. Now that original convertible body is gone. Just makes me sad.

  • @johnhansen4550
    @johnhansen4550 5 лет назад

    It takes a lot more talent to rebuild a car and put in patch panels correctly then it does just to throw everything out and start all over again and throw buckets of money at it. This video is a waste of time. it's just a giant commercial for your overpriced parts..

    hopefully they sold the original convertible minus the hood to someone to rebuild it. other than the fact that its really cool you can get a new body shell if you want it. all this was was a case of just throwing a bunch of money at a kit in my opinion.

    • @darrellhadley188
      @darrellhadley188 Год назад

      Same thing I said but I bet they took that vin# from the other car and put it in that kit car so most likely they cut the old body up because they took all the numbers off it
