We also live in South western Virginia. Not far from the Blueridge Parkway. We really feel blessed. The property is gorgeous, and the pool is phenomenal, but it seems as though there will be quite a bit of work for it to be what you really want. Just keep in prayer, and God will lead you in the right direction. God Bless.
The best feature is the view! The house lay out is not to your liking I can tell. And retiring who wants to go to the trouble of renovations. Retiring and aging in place that is a lot to maintain. It is a lovely property but more for a younger family than retirees.
I live in southwest Virginia. The mountains are beautiful. But that house was going to require a lot of updating. 20 acres is a lot of land. We have 5 acres and it is hard to keep it mowed.
Love the house, but looks like a lot of up keep. Always remember, we get older, not younger…and you don’t want to move again.. At 73, I tell everyone, my next move is to heaven!! No packing required!! Is that Crossroads store, where 29 goes into I 64? If it is, I hope you tried the eclairs, they are soooooo good!!!!!
The property is beautiful!! I love a farm lifestyle but at 60 I have less energy for all the upkeep. There is a lot to do inside. If the expense of that didn’t scare you it may be worth it. May God give you clear direction
Hey Darlene Sweetheart ❤️ You asked for our honest opinion. The view is Stunning to say the least!!! But at retirement age, unless you are Super Charged and have what it takes to maintain 20 acres I say that is a lot to take care of. But it's y'all's decision and whatever y'all choose is the right choice regardless ❤ I know GOD WILL let y'all know when y'all find the right place❤🎉 Congratulations on whatever y'all choose ❤🎉 Thank you so very much for sharing this with us!!! I sure did Enjoy it!!! We Love y'all so very much ❤️ Have A Beautiful Blessed Peaceful Evening ❤️
I agree. That beautiful property will require a tremendous amount of work, which is probably why it’s being sold. As we age, it’s gets more difficult every day to keep up our 5 acres, pool and home. We are 76 and 67.
Hi Darlene! While the scenery is gorgeous, I feel it is too much up keep for retirement. Pools are a LOT of work, as is that much land and out buildings, greenhouse. I'm sure you were planning to hire someone for the upkeep of the land. When we get older that much land AND a pool is just too much. That's my opinion! I wish you the very best, love your videos!
I Love the land, green house gardens , my goodness the pool too…. Be still my heart. And the view. Oh my goodness………. The house would need some work for sure, quirky……. Could you make the blue bedroom the master……? ……. for me (61) as much as I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the outside I don’t know that I’d be able to maintain it…and I would have to remodel the inside.
The property and views are gorgeous. But all those outbuildings look a mess and they’re everywhere. I’d bring some of them down. The house looks like a total gut to me. You would have a lot of work ahead of you. I don’t think this is the one. You do seem to be gravitating toward a Mountain View. I think 5-10 acres is enough to maintain. You’ll find the right one soon. We will keep praying for the perfect one to come along. Thanks Darlene 🙏🙏💕
What a gorgoues place! I can't offer an opinion, because I have liked a lot of things about all the houses you have shown us so far. I know you will make the right choice. Blessings! 💙
The property is stunning! But the house....seems like a lot of work in front of you, and as you mentioned you would totally gut and renovate the kitchen and MBedroom. Seems as though if you are having to renovate right off the bat, is it right? Do you want to be involved in all that - you guys are suppose to be retiring! Property is very big. Have to think about 10 years down the road - do you want that much maintenance? A very hard decision indeed. 💙
The property is GORGEOUS but what would worry me would be all the upkeep, mowing, repairs on the buildings, etc., in my golden years. The house is disappointing to say the least, starting with the kitchen and continuing with the tiny bedrooms and the very odd layout. I would think this property would be for a young married couple just starting out maybe? As a retiree, I wouldn't want all the work involved with the grounds. Keep looking! Don't get discouraged!!!
Beautiful view, but if you aren't used to maintaining that much property, that's a lot of work. Would spend a lot of time mowing, etc. It is called retirement. Just a thought!
It seems like a lot of property upkeep for a retirement home, along with a house you didn't actually like, all for a lovely view and an even lovelier pool. Might be better to find a house laid out as you like it, with room for a pool, if it doesn't already have one. :)
Outside of the house a big yes, inside a big NO, too small. I'm still of the mind to build what you want. If you have to gut the house anyway you might as well start new.
If you have mixed feelings, may not be the one. Your retirement home should have no doubts. Plus property looks beautiful, but a lot of work and upkeep for an aging couple.
20 acres is not retirement to me. Home has alot of work to do. This would have been a no from me. It is beautiful and everyone has a different idea of home.
"Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
Well as I told you before I live in SW Va and it is a gorgeous area but that’s a lot of land to keep up for two retired people. The pool area and porches were very nice. I didn’t like the laundry area either and I wonder if two bedrooms could be combined for a large master? I just feel like it’s too much work.
The property is spectacular, but I need a master bathroom. I have been spoiled with my own bathroom for over 30 years and won't be comfortable without it. Now about thar kitchen.. ugh, no way. I would have to redesign ut completely. You'd better check out the cost of all the remodeling before you commit to anything.
You mentioned a while back that with other houses you purchased, you knew they were “the” one. With this one, you seem to be questioning a number of issues. I truly believe that’s your clue…….🤔 The scenery is definitely beautiful, but as you get older, it will be a lot to maintain, plus winter will be difficult in that area. Pray on it…..you will find your answer..🙏✝️ -Brenda
Hi. That would be a Big No for Me. Although Beautiful to many weird things and way to BIG to be dealing with in Retirement. IMO of course. Thanks for Sharing.
Darlene, It could be that the reason it's being sold is there is too much upkeep inside and outside. I think the grounds and the pool is gorgeous. I, like you think there is some odd layouts and you'd have to gut the entire kitchen, that part that looks like a combo butlers serving place and bar! The bedrooms are small. The whole place is just laid out strange. With that being said, IF you and Lou like it, go for it. IF both you have doubts, it may not be the one. Pray about it! It COULD be turned into a doll house! But, the biggest question is, are you up for the amount of work it would take for it to be your dream retirement home? It does have possibilities!! ANY house you look at is not going to be perfect! You just have to pic the one that suits your needs the most! Love and prayers!!
I wouldn't be much help because I would have been torn as well , but I guess if you could get a good deal on it and have enough to fix the house the way you want it then would be worth ,because the view is worth soooo much.Stunning ! I think I would want to make that last bedroom the one I used . Good luck.
The current owners would have to do a steep discount in order for me to even consider that. I bet they want 3/4 of a million for that property and then all the extra work it needs. Yikes!
While the property is absolutely gorgeous…there’s a lot to be done. I would feel the same as you about the house. There is a huge amount of maintenance to be done. Y’all want to relax and RETIRE. Praying for the right decision to be made. 🙏🏻♥️
Property is beautiful!! But the house isn’t what I expected needs a lot of work? Do want that big of a house? Pool looks great but definitely alot of work! I guess I just need to know what you are looking I am going to be praying for you! Just don’t settle! What is Lou looking for?
Dearest Darlene, while it is a beautiful property, and gorgeous views..., but can I be honest. I really don't think this home is for you! I could feel your hesitation and doubt as you walked around, and there seemed too much that was odd with you pointing a lot of them out. You pointed out several things to which I want to address if I may please. 1 - You mentioned that the main bedroom was small, but I thought it looks a little bigger than mine...LOL! What I thought strange was the laundry coming off the main bedroom, which to me is a very poor design, because do you want to be in your bedroom listening to the washing machine or dryer? 2 - The little area next to the kitchen I thought looked like a butler's kitchen which is very trendy in new build homes in Australia. I thought the location of that butler's kitchen looked out of place though, as it should be not in plain sight and the first thing you see when you come in the front door. 3 - In the greenhouse you pointed out something that was on the side wall and floor... to me it looked like black mould which in fact is potentially dangerous especially if it is inside a house. It usually builds up where there is a lot of moisture and poor ventilation for example in bathrooms. If exposed to black mould over a long period of time you can get very sick... assuming that it is black mould. 4 - There would be a lot of maintenance and upkeep on this property, and you were talking about changing the kitchen... basement... etc... do you both want all the added costs on top of the purchase of this home? Darlene, I do hope this comment hasn't come across as being negative, but I want you to be really happy with where you and Lou choose to live. God's richest blessings, love and hugs. Gloria! 🏡❤
The land & view is amazing, that you can’t get just gat that anywhere. The basement has big possibilities with so much room. It all depends if you want to take on a remodel.
Lovely home however my husband and I are retired. For us retirement means traveling and taking it easier than what we did before retirement. The yard work in itself is a massive chore to keep up with. The bushes etc. yes beautiful but I think you’d be working just as hard when you were working just a different job. Good luck
Gosh this is a super nice home. Lots of reason to buy this if I were in my forty's. But being almost 70 I vote no. It is genuinely a wonderful home with a wonderful view. Just too many not me things about the home. I would vote no for this one.
IMO I think I keep looking. In our search, there are things that we won’t compromise at our age. If you think it’s worth remodeling the house, then pray and see if this is the one. The view is breathtaking, but remember it’s a lot of upkeep. We are still looking too. In the area we are looking there are price wars. I can’t see paying 20 to 30 thousand over asking price. So when The Lord gives us peace on a house we will downsize. Good luck to Lou and you.
The property is beautiful with the views of the mountains. The house falls very short on room size and the lay out just doesn’t work. For the money you will spend to buy this home and property, you could have a house with a pool built with the kitchen you really want. Also do you and Lou really want that much property to take care of at this stage of your life. I am 69 and there is no way Ai would want all that plus a house that is too small and a unworkable layout. Sorry Darlene, this house gets a thumbs down from me.❤️
While it's nice, do you really want to go into all that remodeling? And that is a whole lot of maintenance to do in say 10 years? You are retiring. The body definitely does slow down . Personally i would rethink this but it's what is right for you and your family.
Hello Darlene 👋👋👍🥰👍♥️😘🙏🙏. 👎🏻 sorry it’s nice love the pool but that’s about it. I know it’s up to you and Lou. What are you going to do with 20 acres ? 😬😳. Love the hat ! You should have gotten it. 😁. God Bless ! Whatever house you choose you’ll be happy with it. ☺️
Darlene the property and pool are wonderful, but the house doesn't work. You would have too much remodeling to do for a retirement home. We have been looking on and off for a home out of state. It's very tiring and frustrating to drive 6 hours and end up in a bidding war. 😢 it appears everyone is moving to New Hampshire. So this fall we are going to look in PA. My father's roots go back to 1750 in the Cumberland valley and I still have cousins there. And a few friends. So many people/families are fleeing NY. We had to stop looking for 8 months due to my husband developing heart problems. I wish you luck in finding your dream retirement home. I'm hoping we have better luck in PA. Please keep us posted on your travels. ❤🙏🎃
Nice property but the house has a very odd layout and seems to need LOTS and LOTS of updates and work. You’d be taking on quite a project. Tough decision. I can see lots of prayers during your decision-making process. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I loved the property but there were some things I know you didn’t love. I don’t know how many items were on the love side of your list and because I don’t know the price it’s hard to say, but the view is priceless and there were so many outdoor amenities you won’t find in many properties. However, are you willing find a contractor, live through the mess, and pay what could be a hefty price to make the changes that are a must to you? Paint and flooring and certain upgrades are easier to live through but sometimes one project leads to a bigger other. Maybe your hubby is handy and it’s a non issue. Pull a daisy and do the “she loves me, she loves me not” test? I dunno 🤷♀️Sending love, hugs, and an extra pinch of wisdom and discernment.
This is my kind of place. But, I'm a total country girl and can imagine all the gardening possibilities. I'd love to hear what you two have decided. If you did gut the kitchen, you'd get exactly what you want!! xoxo
I could see you living here. BUT you’d probably gut it☺️. I would too Val. I was a little worried about the greenhouse. What’s all the black stuff? Is that what green houses do? There seemed to be all kinds of watering systems running out to the gardens. It’s quite nice but old. Which may be ok. Did you see that huge fan on the outside(where I was talking to that horse?)? What is that??? So much😩. But on the happy besides the pool and view..,couldn’t you just imagine a Fall Festival in that big out building? DJ, food, desserts, dancing, harvest decor?? A great big Hallmark type party. 😁. Neighbors friends church family etc. that’s where my mind goes.
@@Souperat60 Ah, the parties that could be had! YES! Wouldn't that be so much fun? I'd remodel the kitchen with beautiful Amish-made custom cabinetry and Cambria countertops. That's what I have now and they are simply divine! What with that 20 acre property, the value you'd add, IMHO, would be tremendous. Sounds like you've decided this isn't the property for you? I hope you find the perfect spot soon. Love ya xoxo
I'll just keep it short and sweet on this one. That would be a no for me. The views are amazing but you'd have to do so much work which if you don't mind is ok -- but you also want to enjoy retirement. 20 acres is a lot to take care of and you'd probably have to hire some help. Can't wait to hear what you decide though.
I think it's too much to maintain in the outdoor buildings and land for a couple who are retirement age. 20 acres is a lot! The view is lovely. The inside is not what you want and you would have to sink a lot of money into renovations. I do like that it is a ranch. For me it would not be worth it, or what I want to move into when I retire. Is building a possibility? Hope you come to an answer that you are at peace with!
Thanks for this excursion. Fun seeing new places and possibilities. Looks like a lot of sprucing up, painting, decluttering. I know you love to swim. The pool and surroundings, bathroom, is a good practical idea. I, too, would gut the kitchen. House layout seems a bit disjointed to me. Pray about it. Are there any churches in the vicinity? What about grocery stores?
Absolutely gorgeous views and pool. But there are a lot of things I would want to change. 20 acres is a LOT to take care of for two people. Keep praying about your home, it will come.
It looks beautiful and a lot of work. I hope that if you decide to buy this house, you don't regret it. God bless you and help you in all of your decisions!
I live in Southwest Virginia. It is a beautiful place to live. Some years we have lots of ice and snow. It is hot and humid during the summer. Looks like lots of mowing, weedeating, trimming bushes and fence painting. The inside of the house was very odd. Would drive me crazy. Most people do not have living space in the basement here because they are very damp and must run a dehumidifier.
Pray about this property and ask the Lord if this is where He wants you to be and discuss your issues and thoughts with the Lord and He will tell you if this is it or do you keep looking for the place God has for you. Write a list of pros and cons. If this is not the place write down what you did like.
Attention to detail on the outside, the inside, is not what I would be willing to put up with so that would require alot of remodeling. A lot of work to keep up as we age. Lovely view, torn indeed😊
I would think to myself, is this a retirement home that would work for me in the next 20 years when I’m in my 80’s? Just my opinion, too big, and too much work for me to be able to enjoy my retirement.
The property is beautiful. Twenty acres is quite a lot to care for. When you got to the kitchen I said. (out loud) I hate the kitchen. Rooms seem small. It seems like you would be spending a lot of money right away. Depending on your budget and the price of the house ; it may not be worth it. I think this property as lovely as it is would be a ...no.😊. 🇨🇦Marilyn you tube is using an old name❤
Beautiful and peaceful area n gorgeous views but looks like a bit much upkeep n tearing down and the fact that you're not happy with the layout etc. I would just keep looking if I were you. You'll know when you find the right one.
If you have to convince yourself that you could live with it, it's not the one. You might end up wishing you'd kept looking. Also, you and Lou are entering retirement, and that's a lot of yard, structures, and household renovations to tackle. When will you find time to enjoy the porch and pool? Just my opinion, the property is pretty but needy. And the mold? Uh, oh! More work. I see too many red flags, Darlene.
Beautiful area and views but unless you have budgeted full time maintenance help you will not have the time to enjoy that pool or rocking away on the porch.
Beautiful property! You didn’t show the kitchen did you? Well if you can afford to make changes in the house, it’s a winner. It really seems like the outside is so perfectly wonderful it must make it so hard to say no.
It a beautiful property, and the house is nice except it seems like it's unfinished and what was finished was rushed maybe. If the price is right and you want to go through the waiting to redo to your liking, I'd say go for it! The pool does look great though!😊🤗
First thoughts! Way too much upkeep and a lot of renovations. It looks like they have major water problems in the greenhouse. Looks like a money pit. Pass.
Hi Darlene🤗 You. and Lou will know when you come upon your new home. You’ll get that warm sensation, your eyes will light up, your smile will fill your face, your heart will probably skip a beat with excitement. Like being in love. 😆 In the meantime, enjoy your days of searching. Blessings. 🌷Sam
If you plan to live outside it looks like an awesome place. If you plan to live inside.... well I would keep looking
Well said🤣!!!
We also live in South western Virginia. Not far from the Blueridge Parkway. We really feel blessed. We downsized in our retirement-no yardwork and no remodeling. No regrets. Hope you find your next home soon.
You really like the yard but too many negatives with the inside unless you're up for a total remodel job.

You are right Nancy. We took a pass on this house. Thx for commenting 🥰
Think of all the things, you can do to make it yours. The view alone, is priceless.
Not sure exactly where the house is but I sure recognized the roads leading to it!
nice but I feel it's not you but of course you can make it what you if you choose I am sure,
The property is beautiful with the views of the mountains. Sorry Darlene, this house gets a thumbs down from me.❤️
Keep looking.
Yep. You read our minds!!!
Beautiful home and property! I absolutely love it!
It's a pretty piece of property, but alot of acreage to take care of. Looks like it need a lot of loving care and work. Not a retirement house by far.
While it's nice, do you really want to go into all that remodeling? And that is a whole lot of maintenance to do in say 10 years? You are retiring. The body definitely does slow down . Personally i would rethink this but it's what is right for you and your family.
Stunning property. However too much to update in house and do you really want to take on that much property in retirement. I wouldn't.
Beautiful property. But the upkeep would be too much.
I know it’s very hard and difficult to find a new property we saw 30 houses until we bought ours ashen you find yours you’ll know
Thanks Wendy.
THE OUTSIDE IS BEAUTIFUL...BUT IF YOU ARE RETIRING....LOTS OF WORK OUT THERE... YOU WONT BE RETIRING,,, YOU WILL BE WORKING!
Nice property but the house has a very odd layout and seems to need LOTS and LOTS of updates and work. You’d be taking on quite a project. Tough decision. I can see lots of prayers during your decision-making process. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Peace in one's heart usually means it may be God's will.
Oh Darlene, this place is beautiful, the grounds are like a resort, the views are gorgeous.
I would love to go to the farm
It’s great to hear from you A. I’ve been missing you. How are you doing??
@@Souperat60 I'm very blessed
I love the outside of this home. But in my opinion it needs so much work to be done. As you are retiring it’s way too much work in my opinion.
Have a great weekend ! It’s hard choosing the right house, but God will help you and Lou ! 👍😎👍♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful property but when I think retirement…I just want to move in with no work lol
Yes, it was a bit much I suppose. 😩
I'd say run....don't walk!! Too many weird things and indiscrepancies in design and function! A money pit with a beautiful view in my opinion.
You are probably right.
Pray about this property and ask the Lord if this is where He wants you to be and discuss your issues and thoughts with the Lord and He will tell you if this is it or do you keep looking for the place God has for you. Write a list of pros and cons. If this is not the place write down what you did like.
It's a no for me kitchen too small, needs lots of work needed, even though it's has lots of acreage and beautiful pool.
Attention to detail on the outside, the inside, is not what I would be willing to put up with so that would require alot of remodeling. A lot of work to keep up as we age. Lovely view, torn indeed😊
The house needs some care but the outside is beautiful. Tha view is gorgeous.
Too much but beautiful.
Beautiful property! You didn’t show the kitchen did you? Well if you can afford to make changes in the house, it’s a winner. It really seems like the outside is so perfectly wonderful it must make it so hard to say no.
Have you thought of just buying land and building or putting a modular home on it?
❤
Absolutely beauty. Could plant a huge vegetable garden. Have cows and chickens
It a beautiful property, and the house is nice except it seems like it's unfinished and what was finished was rushed maybe. If the price is right and you want to go through the waiting to redo to your liking, I'd say go for it! The pool does look great though!😊🤗
👍
First thoughts! Way too much upkeep and a lot of renovations. It looks like they have major water problems in the greenhouse. Looks like a money pit. Pass.
👍🏻
To much like work
You would be buying the property which is beautiful but way too much to take care of in retirement. This kitchen is nice but not for you.
I don't this house is for you. There's too much that needs to be changed.
Agree Vonda.
Walk away! You are dissatisfied with too many features. Lots of yard work involved
Hi Darlene🤗
You. and Lou will know when you come upon your new home.
You’ll get that warm sensation, your eyes will light up, your smile will fill your face, your heart will probably skip a beat with excitement.
Like being in love. 😆
In the meantime, enjoy your days of searching.
Blessings.
🌷Sam
❤️
way too much for a retired couple ...niss your videos
Well you slammed most of the inside so immediately move on!
But you can make it your own I love your house be honest why do you want to sell your home
Oh I love my home too. But it’s simply time to move on. We want to be near Atleast one of our sons and his family.
