    I'm 59 now, and remember feeling the same way at your age. Certain times in our lives will sharpen us towards the future. I'm approaching one of those times myself, so close to 60. Best wishes in your journey and search for meaning.

      I am turning 60 on 2 January 2025. I have been feeling the same build up you are mentioned. That feeling of change. This time I plan to run towards it instead of away, since I have learned that you can't stop change. So therefore I booked and planned a journey from my home town, Cape Town, South Africa to Olenilsøya in Lofoten in February 2025. I have never been to Norway but have been living a digital Norwegian life for the past six months since I started planning by indulding each day especially before bedtime, watching movies like this that inspires. All travel apart from flights to Bergen will be by bus and train. I am ready to face the challenges of travel that time of year since the journey is as much part of the process as the destination. A solo journey to reset myself and spend some time in a lovely little house on Olenilsøya. I look forward to coming back with a new understanding and insight into myself and the world that surrounds me.

    Oh Maria, I am SO proud of you, girl! And I am SO excited that you ended up in "my" part of Norway! Mosjoen (sorry, don't know how to use Norsk characters on my computer) is the nearest town to where my mother came from (her family farm is along the E6 in Grane, between Trofors and Laksfors), and I have a first cousin who lives there, and I have spent time along Sjogata as well, and seen De Sju Sostre. I didn't know that you could hike up there, but if I can get back there in summer I will ask my cousin to take me up there. We drove to Sandnessjon last time I was there and drove to Donna and the outer islands. So beautiful. When you said you were going to do something special in Mosjoen I thought you were going to go on the zip line. Did you hear about that when you were there? Wow, I just love that view from the top of the mountain. Norway is so beautiful, and because of my connection this just made my heart sing! I think this adventure is like a vision quest for you, and I am excited to see part 2, and to follow along to see where your life takes you. Beste hilsen fra Canada!

      I love that this spoke to you Janina! "Your" part of Norway really is something! And thank you, I am a little proud of me too. I really needed this.
      I wanted to go to Dønna too, but the day I tried to get there the ferry line was way to long so I would have had to wait for hours. Next time I will go there for sure.
      I heard about the zipline in Mosjøen but I did not dare to do it 🙈🙈. Have you done it?

    • @janinafisher101
      @janinafisher101 Месяц назад +1

      @@Mariaandtheforest Well I hope you are more than a "little" proud of yourself! You must have been very sore in the legs and totally exhausted for the next 2-3 days, but I also hope you felt emotionally "filled"! I only heard about the zipline maybe a year ago on RUclips. I have been on others, but this one I think is much longer. It is quite exhilarating to go flying along one! Perhaps you and Bendik can go together another time! I do hope that your time away filled and calmed your restless spirit and that you now realize that there is no limit to what you are capable of! Sending hugs to you!

I have had a very few times like that in my life. Now at 78, there is no way I would do that, unless really feeling led to do it. I enjoy your work so very much. You have a voice that lends comfort and peace to me as I watch and listen, thank you for all that. It would be nice to meet you in person. But not a chance of happening. I spent a couple of nights there on my only trip to Norway four years ago.. and inappropriate for that person to make a comment on you eating alone in that restaurant. Thank you for sharing another story. I spent the first three decades of my life working on the problem of how to live. On the verge of the fourth decade I solved that problem, at least in some sense. But the solution involved letting go of almost everything I’d spend the first three decades building. And that’s ok. Most of that time was spent out of balance. Letting go of what I’d gained during that time was the price of returning to equilibrium. The universe will always give us balance - it’s mostly just a question of whether and when and how we surrender to that fact, lol. I’d also offer, perhaps as a kind of gift in exchange for this story, that not everything we think is right, and not everything we feel is true. The thoughts and feelings are real, but that doesn’t mean they’re (always) correct. To paraphrase Alan Watts on meditation: it’s important to go out of your mind every once in awhile - it’s the only way to come back to your senses. Our minds are such wonderfully powerful tools and such lamentably mediocre masters. May this next turn on your path be filled with many blessings.
