What a masterpiece of a video! I have so many of the perfumes you highlighted but will only mention one that I think no one ever mentions and that is Hermes Hiris, which was my signature scent for years. Now I have so many, I cannot just pick one but I will always have a bottle of it.

    • @RamseytheRam

Yeah Hiris is the closest thing to that Orris 80% Irones that Russian Adam Sent me... i dont know if I have ever smelled anything as beautiful as orris with 80% irones ... in the last interview Russian Adam said orris wjth 15 or 20% irones smells amazing and most perfumes houses charge big bucks for that... 80% irones is unimaginable ... its so beautiful it almost makes me cry when I smell it.. the closes fragrance to that beautiful ingridient is Hiris

That’s ok, I own and love some male frags too . I don’t like Aventus for her. I like the men’s Aventus but only the vintage bottle my friend sold me which is one of the ones that’s got the most pineapple . I don’t know which batch that is, I don’t care. I’ll probably never finish this bottle.
Wow u have alot of vintage. I’m jelly…lol
I have maybe a dozen vintage bottles, but not much more . I do have a rare vintage Samsara. And wow it’s so much better than the bottle I bought a few yrs ago.
Let me ask u something, how do u have the chance to wear all of your fragrances? I just counted most of my fragraces and I stopped at around 500. I have been wearing 4 different ones in morning and 4 at night. One fragrance on each hand and one on each elbow pit. Then at bedtime I wear 4 different ones. I work from home so if I don’t wear as many as I can a day, I’ll die and leave most behind. I even shared and gave away decants to friends in frag groups and I’ve sold back ups, even with all that I have too much.
One day I took the whole day and made a list of all the bottles I CANT live without. The ones I must keep and I tried very hard to keep it at 50. But it was impossible. I found that 185 are the ones I MUST keep. And this was VERY hard. Now these are just the full bottles, not the almost 200 decants I have and the hundreds of samples. A couple of yrs ago I made a bag of 250 samples and sold it on eBay for $875. Now I know that sounds like a lot of money but really it’s not. I included most Niche and very expensive Niche. Nothing was cheaper than $125 a bottle. Most 2.5ml samples go for $8 to $25 each on eBay. So 250 samples for $875 would make mine at about $3.50 each. You can’t buy any expensive Niche and Designer for three times that amount.
The box was huge. I did have to charge shipping $15 but shipping ended up being $45 of which I paid the rest. Anyway it sold immediately. The woman who bought it was so happy, I mean she was crazy happy with her box. She actually became one of my best eBay customers. She would beg me to sell her full bottles from my collection and she would say “at any price”
I had a few back up bottles of many MFK that I really didn’t want to sell but she kept upping the price to ridiculously high prices that I couldn’t say no. I told her “u can go to the MFK website and buy any of these for $200 less” she would always say that she wants to buy from me coz I have older macerated bottles. And she felt so happy with all the samples she bought for such a great price that she felt she needed to make it up to me. I remember I was once looking to buy a sample of a perfume I didn’t have(shocker I know) lol and I saw she had a bottle and was selling decants on eBay. I placed the order for 10mls of this perfume and she was so happy that I actually wanted to buy something from her that she cancelled the order and just sent it to me. Now remember this was a very expensive perfume. So, yeah I made some great friends/buyers from selling on eBay . It was a great way to get rid of all these extra perfumes I have. And those samples I sold her, most I bought at high prices on eBay and sprayed once and sold for 85% less than I paid. The others I just decanted from my own collection. So I made decent money on eBay until one day eBay got a bug up their ass and sent me an email informing me that I am banned for life and I can’t even appeal. I asked why I was banned and was told that I broke their rules and sold used perfume(decants). I wasn’t even given warnings . Just banned. I asked why me when millions of ppl sell used perfumes and decants on eBay. They said they will eventually get around to everyone. I also asked why no warnings? They said u do get 3 warnings but my 3 postings count as my 3 warnings. What??? That doesn’t make sense. I tried fighting it but was banned and blocked and I didn’t even have a chance to take my customers with me. I had quite a few great customers that I wanted to tell them what happened and to let them know that they can still buy from me, I’ll send them a list of all my products and prices and they can pay me with PayPal, still protected . But eBay knows ppl who are banned will do that so they block u after banning u. Horrible eBay. Just horrible. I actually have a great job so this was more of a hobby for me but I’ve seen some mom n pop eBay stores who NEED their account to survive and heartless evil ebay banned many of them just like they did me, no chances no warning. It broke my heart when I read some of the stories of these poor ppl who lost their only means of a supplemental income. This is why I STRESS to ppl who are new to eBay selling to READ their rules. ALL of it so u know what can get u banned coz there’s alot. And they will tell u ignorance of the rules is no excuse. They’re supposed to give u three warnings before permanently banning you but they don’t always follow their own rules.
I have seen some ppl who have large eBay stores that make alot of money hire a lawyer to sue eBay and get their account opened again and most have succeeded, not all tho. But lawyers are very expensive. They suggest u don’t go this route and just threaten to sue first. That rarely works. It didn’t in my case. For some reason they hated me and wanted me gone and I found out why.
I found out some of eBay’s dirty deeds and threatened to go to the FBI and the media . They were doing millions of dollars of business with the Russian federation crooks . They ripped off millions of ppl by selling fake Niche and designer fragrances . I reported every Russian federation item and seller I saw. I must have reported hundreds. Ebay didn’t do anything. So I was pissed off and threatened eBay….lol
So yeah I think that may have been why I was banned . And because I was indeed selling decants(used perfume) I did break their rules so they knew they had me. Oh well….it is what it is ….I was warned not to try and open another account with a different name coz if i try selling they will know as soon as I give them my info and banking. I didn’t try . I did however open up a new acct and I’m just buying. Its been 2 yrs and so far so good.
eBay are such crooks, if ppl only knew . They know they’re huge and billions shop on eBay so they have a monopoly. It’s unfair and should be against the law. Oh my goodness I wrote too much again….lol

Wow crazy ebay story! I had no idea.... i never run into this because I never sell anything 😂
I honestly will never be able to wear everything ... i just wear whatever I want to wear whenever I want to wear it... if a bottle sits around and I spray it once or twice a year I just figure hey its there if I want it....maybe one day I will sell some stuff....there are somethings I would sell.. but I want to talk about them on the channel 1st 😁

What about Balmain’s Jolie Madame?Ohhhh, Chamad! I have so many bottles of Samsara because I sold a house and the old owner collected Guerlain and that was her favorite. She gifted me a bunch…I’m so lucky…almost wanted to offer her a commission free sale. I’m not into Samsara … can’t put my finger in the reason why, but it’s not my favorite. My daughter loves it, luckily.
Iris is one of my favorite notes too.
Tabu … exciting stuff. The older bottles are exceptional. But even the modern trash version smells great.
I hate Kenzo Jungle with the elephant too. The tiger top is fantastic.
My Sin is fabulous. Everything you say is right, and it’s quiet.
Yes, the Shiseido version of FdB is fabulous, but the new one is absolutely fine. I wore it today. It’s so pretty.
    I could continue my running commentary…but …but…
    #19…that stuff is perfect.
I hope you can get your nose on Coty Chypre…you’ll love it. It’s not easy to find, but when you do you’ll love it.
Mitsouko in all iterations, is my favorite and it’s gets me the most compliments of any perfume I wear. I usually wear the extrait. Sometimes I think the compliments come because the perfume makes me so happy. It’s always odd to me wearing that and not when I wear Portrait of a Lady or Coromandel or Hiris or Le Lion. I don’t know, but it makes me think Mitsouko is my jam.
Have you not smelled Nikki de Saint Phalle? It’s sort of an amazing mess.
    Lots of fun here, thanks.

    Hello Ramsey,
this was a very informative video. Out of curiosity, I was wondering if your wife likes to wear these fragrances too or if her taste in fragrance differs from yours? The older Opium perfumes must be amazing. I sometimes wonder if fragrance companies like the new regulations because is saves them money on using quality ingredients. It's such a shame that most things don't smell as good as they used to. I guess the current trends tend toward laundry detergent musk, sweet, synthetic wood, resin and floral notes. I wonder how the performance is so bad when it's all cheep chemicals anyway? - Jenn

Great work of a real frag enthusiast, enjoyed the video👏
Quick one, how would you compare Teatro Alla Scala with Coco? More flamboyant? I only tried Coco EDP (the vintage), although It is very nice and refined, i found it a little too sweet for my tastes (maybe the EDT breathes a bit more and is not as sweetened, I don't know). Anyways, I ended up preferring Opium vintage, more castoreum, more incense, more butch 😄

    • @RamseytheRam
      @RamseytheRam  2 года назад +3

Yes I prefer the vintage too but I really like all the version I showed in the video tbh... Teatro alla scala is more honey and more civet and its louder... its literally like the fat lady singing.. coco has that chanel refinement... try the vintage EDT ... i think you are spot on it is less sweet and can breathe a bit better 🍻

Interesting history... FYI: The Middle East was probably the most significant geographical area for perfumery. Babylonian Mesopotamia was an empire that linked the Mediterranean Sea with the Persian Gulf through most of modern-day Iraq, Turkey and Syria. In fact, the world’s first recorded chemist was a woman called Tapputi who worked at the Mesopotamian Royal Palace around 1200 BC. *She notably developed advanced perfumery techniques with distillation, cold enfleurage, tincture & solvents. However, the rise of Christianity saw the use of perfumes fall. Nevertheless, the Arabs preserved it for daily wear and practicing religion. Much later between the 6th and 10th centuries, Islam innovated perfume culture with steam distillation techniques and new raw materials.

Funnily enough the newer Serge lutens bottles with the bold black fonts are the same fonts he used for as his vintage photography books in the 1990s because Serge Lutens was also an incredible photographer and hair and makeup artist for Shiseido, Dior cosmetics, etc. He’s definitely a renaissance man, a total genius.

DG red cap, left her imprint in my veins. Truly this thick white floral will forever be a stain scent memory jamming to an unbelievable set list of STPs hits of the 90s. I might have to *ban* myself from your channel, man. 😅 A quick WARNING to all watching: This video will hit your wallet / hard! 😂 The Krizia TAS just arrived, and wow, you were SO right - it's beyond epic. I’m already hunting for a backup bottle.
Yesterday? I scored a vintage Shalimar and now I’m frolicking in town like it's nobody’s business, smelling “fabulous”! 😂 I also ordered *two* 67ml bottles of vintage Youth Dew, and because I clearly have no self-control, a little extra something found its way into my cart. a vintage Rochas Femme - just like the one in the video. Can't wait to sniff that when it arrives.
But wait, there's more! I caved and bought a vintage bottle of Guerlain L'Heure Bleue EDP. I guess I’m officially collecting classics now - women’s fragrances no less - like Pokémon cards ! 😂 And yes, Bal à Versailles is officially on my hit list. I’m on a mission!
Right now in the middle of *haggling* for a full bottle of Azuree like I’m negotiating world peace. 😬
This fragrance rabbit hole has me asking questions, like: “What if I bought 7 bottles of Mitsouko from different eras? Would they smell like different kinds of magic?” Or maybe L'Heure Bleue over the span of 100 years? I’m seriously contemplating doing just that with some Guerlains to see how they evolve over time...
BREAKING NEWS: just as I’m typing Offer accepted! A tiny (but precious) few mls of Bal à Versailles in the original bottle is on its way! Similar to yours, but no case . And only a tiny bit left on the bottom … but I’m already wanting a full-ish bottle if the right deal comes along.
Great job on this video, man! It’s dangerous for my wallet, but I’m loving every minute of it! 👏

And negotiating for a Le Dix … looking at the prices , whatever you paid for that bucket that you have u got a deal there 😂 holy sht … like 15ml for 3 digits here in the U.K. … ill find a deal eventually 😂 I’ll soon end up having more vintage female juices than male 😂
