Hey Everyone! Thank you for watching! I believe I am one of the first channels to review the new bass guitar version of the Caline Lorcan! For loops and drum sounds I am using the Flamma FS-01 which goes to the Lorcan. The mixer out feeds a Peavey PV6 USB Mixer which then interfaces with the camera.
***** I completely forgot to talk about the Lorcan's Bluetooth function. Much like the AUX input jack you can pair with a bluetooth transmitter such as your computer or smartphone to pipe in music to practice to. To be fair the manual mentions nothing about this feature unfortunately. The name of the device when you pair with your bluetooth device is called "CA100."
Overall this is a cool mini amp! The only flaw for the bass version that I can see is that the input gain stage cannot handle the hotter signal of active basses, meaning a battery powered preamp/EQ/Pickup(s) The signal will easily cause the input to overdrive/distort where you need to turn your overall volume on your bass down to prevent this.
The Line Out is unbalanced, so keep in mind when interfacing with a mixer, its best to use a DI Box to avoid tone loss from long cables and ground loops
Output volume is weak compared to the guitar version, it can use more wattage to push the bass notes out. However at low to moderate volume the amp holds its own.
Thank you for supporting my channel!

I ordered this amp to practice in my room in my apartment. Pretty good sound for such a small amp. I'm very satisfied.
Great to hear!
I have their older Scuru S7 for guitar, and while it doesn't have too many controls (volume, tone, distortion switch, distortion pot), it certainly sounds great for its size thanks to the addition of a passive radiator on its back, very clever and rarely seen on instrument speaker cabinets! I remember there was a bass version, and also its bigger brother, similar to this one, but with less features. After watching your review I think they definitely went one step further in this series of mini amps.
Agreed! Pretty cool feature set. Yeah it doesn't have a lot of acoustic power for deep bass notes but the signal processing and routing options for the price point can't be knocked on, at all!
Amazing!
Thank you for watching!
DUDE! You rule🎉
I was not sure and now I am. I will get both the guitar and bass one. Great playing you really got a great sound out of the gsr200
Should i use a Direct box running it into a audio enterface?
Yes a DI is good. Helps with any impedance matching of the signals unless your interface has that feature already.
Thank you for this demo!
Wondering if this little amp can handle the “B” string on a 5 string bass too , thinking of those small speakers it entertains ..?
It can handle the low B clearly, but don't expect a lot of volume without distorting.
@Bassguitarist1985
Hi. Awesome demo here. Is there a chance of telling us or even showing us (before parting cash or not) how the unit copes with a low B and some chords thrown in from a 5 string through the speakers? You did well for the 4 string, and as a pre amp etc its got what I desire, but I just need that low B vibe from the speakers. And, if I took it for a lil jam at someone else's lil house, it will carry in the room at neighbour friendly volumes??
My other amp is 120w 1973 valve monster. Or Im using the studio set up. Just a bother to set up all the time..., and i almost always play no/fx. But this is tingling my senses a lot.
Thanks
Hey bud sure I can do a video here with the low b to give you an idea. The reality is it's too small 4-in speakers You're not going to get a ton of low end. There's simply not efficient enough to produce the 30 hz fundamental of a low b. You will likely hear the higher harmonics of 60 120 240 etc.
Honestly you would be better using it as a preamp to drive a small powered speaker even a 10-in speaker in a modest size cabinet will do you much better reproducing that lower string.
But yeah I'll throw up a video here soon with my five string basses
@@Bassguitarist1985 Thanks for your prompt reply. Id not expect a tonne, but maybe a couple of grams? Indeed, thermodynamics and all that ;) i get it. But for the audibility to be recognised on the B string rather than rattle like a gassy mouse in a tin can (like many not so dynamic speakers out there), would this little nuggate 'B' enough to notice next to a gently strummed acoustic instrument? I mean, my reference of enough is these little bluetooth speakers for instance are astounding, but not subs, which is okay... As a 'pre amp' shape pedal/amp unit, Im sold already... just need a nudge (y)
@@JT-si6bl I'll see what I can do with a quick video.
@@Bassguitarist1985 You're golden bro, thank you!
Have you tried the Blackstar Fly 3 mini bass amp? If you have, would love to know your thoughts comparing the Blackstar vs this Caline!
I have not unfortunately. Interesting little amp though!
Great review/demo! Anyone else have trouble with the bluetooth connection to this amp?
What seems to be the trouble?
Thanks for the quick reply! None of my devices can find the amp. I might open it up to see the insides just to see if there are any loose ends. Other than that I'm a novice and wouldn't even know what the Bluetooth transmitter looks like (or if it's missing)
Niiiiiice!!! \m/
Hmmmm I wonder how this would be for guitar. I know they have a guitar one, but I'm not really into the gain or delay effects, and I favor a beefier tonal quality as opposed to bright/tinny.
Worth trying!!
How loud would you say it is? Do you think a bass played through it would keep up with an acoustic guitar or two?
I'd say loud enough to keep up with another acoustic guitar for sure.
@@Bassguitarist1985 Awesome! thanks for the quick response
@@chioditrio My pleasure! It will start to sound "boxy" when you turn up the volume, can't expect much for little tiny speakers, however the built-in effects and the fact that it is battery powered it gives an acoustic bass for example a little extra volume to compete with the guitars.
@@Bassguitarist1985 Boxy is ok. I worry about the speaker farting out. I recently tried the Spark Mini and it just couldn't handle the low notes. The speaker would distort most unpleasantly.
It would have been nice if you did some samples with just a microphone so we can hear the speakers. That's kinda the idea of a portable amp.
I did! At 10:45 I use my microphone to listen to the speakers
