This video is making me cry! I lived there for six years, and I miss it so much. I thought I would live there the rest of my life. My family didn’t see me for six years, so I went to visit them in January 2020 and I’ve been stuck outside of China ever since. My former employer still has my apartment and all of my belongings. They want me to come back, but it’s so very difficult! Thanks for filming this video… it warms my heart to see those familiar places again ❤
It’s awesome that ZiPing doesn’t have an English name, even though she’s obviously studied English for a long time. I always encourage my Chinese students NOT to get one. Because if they do all that work to learn English, then we can at LEAST learn how to say their name correctly. I say, I’m not teaching them to BE English… rather I’m teaching them to use English as a tool to build China up stronger than ever. I tell them, they are lucky to be Chinese and they should be proud! In my opinion, they should all stop using English names. It’s more respectful and professional, to call people by their proper titles.

Racism is a product of colonialism to divide and rule. It is pretty obvious they don't teach hate in China since these people on the streets are from all over China. And they don't have any bias against black. As a matter of fact, sometimes the people are more friendly to foreigners than Chinese because of curiosity. But the problem is US continue to brainwash people otherwise. The racism problem is mostly the west own creation.

I visited China with my son for business we met so many lovely people. Some of the ladies told my son they thought he was cute. So many wanted to take photos with us. I felt more comfortable in China than my birthplace UK 🧕🏾

I wish there was more in South Africa to teach us their language. If someone respect you, you naturally respect them back. The children are also respectful. It speaks volumes about China. I was really really upset because of the problem solving test I failed few hours ago. It was for an interview. Here in Asian countries we don’t really see foreign people that much especially those belonging to other races, that’s why we act wierd and gather around different race people whether their black or white or even from some other Asian country.
Most of the Chinese people that I have interacted with in America have been humble I treat them with respect even the hardliners after they get to know you they're a little bit softer they have been told some things about certain groups in America and then when they meet you they know that's not true

As a Californian I find it disturbing how much people think talking in English is awesome 🤦🏻♂️ I think you should stop promoting the language of the people that colonized you. The use of English should be minimized in Ghana because it’s not the native language of Ghana 🇬🇭 You should be proud of AKAN or whatever the native Ghanaian language you speak 🙏
After 1945 English started to be the commercial language for trades, that's why it is spoken all around the world.
It is a cyclic wave, in the Roman times it was greek, after the empire collapsed it passed to Latin and the likes.

Always interesting, after over a decade in Japan, to see how much better people are at English in places like China. Practically no one in Japan can say more than, "Hello" and, "I'm-fine-thank-you-and-you?" and even if they can they'd prefer not to try. I suppose that's what happens when you're taught a language by people who can't speak it, not for communication but for the express purpose of passing the English section of entrance examinations.
我们日本人一般不敢说英语，因为生怕说错丢人现眼。我也不例外。可是我会讲中文和韩文。That's right. We Japanese study English in order to take entrance exam. 考试完毕就会忘记。
Chinese exams are atrocious. I used to proctor English exams in China, and while the students were taking the test, I would spend my time finding all the errors on the exam sheet.
Passing the exam isn’t about knowing correct English. Often, a native speaker could only get a B. Many of the questions make no sense toa native speaker. Because students need to memorize the “wrong” answers given by the provincial education bureau. And nobody would ever dare to challenge the authority of those officials who wrote the exams.
My students used to gather around after the tests sheets were submitted, when the exam was over. Then I’d talk to them about all of the errors, and tell them what the truly correct answers should have been.

@@thesincitymama I'm Chinese but living in Australia, for me the Chinese English tests are easy. It's really easier than IELTE test, perhaps that's because I got some talents on language as I learn every language more quickly than others (like English, Japanese and French). But to be fair, the English exams in high school and university in China are really not that difficult. When I was a high school student in China, I didn't even work hard on English, and I can still get a high grade. 😂
I don't know why there are so many of my peer classmates would consider English is such a difficult subject. Well, they should do some IELETs exams. 😂

I love how this guy takes everything in his stride, and his perspective on how the Chinese react to him. If only more people were like Fel. Sometimes as a white foreigner when I visited I received some attention, not much, but I felt awkward. But Fel's attitude is great. Heck, some people who use the racism card far too often could learn a thing or two from Fel. Great videos mate, helping me improve my Mandarin.
