    Wow, it's been 18 years since I fished with a pole and this has helped me no end. Wish me luck with elasticating it tonight - just got a beginner pole for commercials to see how I enjoy it as a break from chucking lures.

    I just bought an Edge Monster margin pole and some Dura Slip elastic. I needed some tips because the last margin pole I had didn't have roller pulla top kits.
    This is the best elastication tutorial I have seen (and I must have watched nearly a dozen of them). Using the diamond eye threader just on bottom end of the top kit is simple but genius - other videos tell you to put the threader through the whole top kit and then drag the whole lot through backwards.
    Thanks Des, you are THE man!

    Ive recently come back to course fishing & the tech has changed completley. Last time I used a pole was 2010 ish and I used a PLASTIC CONNECTOR and a cone bung in section 2 or 3. Ive been carping ever since. Now Im getting back into course fishing to learn my mrs. Great uploads to watch here.

    Using the elastic lube when tying the knots is a great idea. Last year I lost a a big smallmouth Bass (Ilive in the US) due to the connector snapping off, I was never happy with the knot but due to laziness I didnt change it, that won't happen again. Preston videos are awesome, thanks.

    Just bought a pole, never used one before so this is great instruction - can you do one on how to 1) not break a top kit on its first outing when removing it from the pole tube and 2) not break the end off cupping kit including losing bait cup when trying to shoo away a duckling! :-):-)

    Just returned to pole fishing last summer and looking at a new pole now, so very interesting to see the dacron in use as I wasn't really aware how they worked or how they connected to pole and rig.

      @@koovar in the rest of europe (mainly western europe) it's also getting very popular. The fishing in the US has not evolved in any way

    Just getting back into fishing after 10 years out! Been watching a fair few of your videos Des and I’m getting the bug back! I’ve just re-elasticated my top kits using dacrons and the pulla bead which I found really easy, I’m just hoping they work well after using stonfo in my younger years! Thanks for the simple, clear and consise videos you make. 👍🎣

    Why do you put the large end of the Pulla bung bead towards the pole rather than the pointed end?

    • @debbiemess9433
      @debbiemess9433 4 года назад +1

      Geoff Lukins it’s because the bead on the Dacron has to fit snug on in between the Dacron and the elastic

    Thread through the puller hole to the butt section 1st,make sure to put a loop on the puller hole end. Thread it all through then feed the end back up the pole to the tip section, you don't need a diamond eye threader

    Des mentioned joining one ness elastic to an old one to make it more simple to thread. I'm doing this, and wonder what knot Des uses for joining the old to the new please?

  • @paulrimmer2810
    @paulrimmer2810 3 года назад

    Thanks Des. Why didn’t you use the elastic lubricant on the pulla bead knot? Is it not as important? Thinking when you get snagged across and have to pull like mad to get your rig back.

  • @captaingold1685

    You can also use a diamond eye threader to put the pulla bead on to the elastic...

  • @georgehowe5891
    @georgehowe5891 3 года назад

    You can also just use mono filament to pull the elastic threw the puller

    • @visfreak5059
      @visfreak5059 3 года назад

      I fish about 3 to 4 times a week, i change the elastic in all my topkits ones a year. So for me the elastic lasts about 200 sessions

    • @Andyfishing23
      @Andyfishing23 3 года назад

      It’s more or less a ‘figure of 8’ knot I think mate. If you tie figure of 8, you should be fine 👍 that’s all I’ve done.

  • @bernardrudd9058
    @bernardrudd9058 Месяц назад

    I can't see the benefit of a side puller, I thread the elastic through the top two sections attach a bung, and tie a stonfu to the tip.

    Can u reuse dimond eye threader

    • @Shelts0
      @Shelts0 4 года назад

      Yes - it is a metal tool that can be used many times. Be careful when oncoiling and coiling not to kink or tangle the threader, and also just watch out so it doesn't incoil rapidly and pokes you in the eye!
