I agree. It feels like she knows this is whole thing was just about racism but making excuses defending it, then when ppl are telling her that the games have always been fiction. Not real, that use real history for the story, she doubles down to make a ridiculous excuse than just admitting she was wrong 6:31
@@kuggacouragegx6093 agreed, I find the wave of hatred that this game and Yasuke is getting very problematic, not because I want to defend a company like Ubisoft, but simply because it is such an obvious display of racism. Pretty much every single samurai videogame that ever existed had a Japanese male protagonist, so having an African male take the role this time is an interesting decision. I could somehow understand the concern if he was the only one we could play, but there's Naoe as well.
Firstly, I love your English! You're doing a great job, even though it must be hard! But the reason I hate how UBI is treating Japanese culture is because Ghost of Tsushima did the exact thing but better. The two head developers of the game have been made ambassadors of Tsushima Island as a result of the game's success, and that's because they took great care to portray Japan during a time of strife. UBI however isn't even addressing the culture issue, as they believe that Yasuke is the only problem they have. They're moving goalposts instead of acknowledging the issue and listening to fans, especially the Japanese people who they apparently, believe they're representing. It's insulting and wrong, so I will not be supporting the game.
I just commented on your first video on this topic, then saw your response to some comments that had already made the same arguments as me, so I will respond here. While I appreciate your efforts on correcting yourself and apologizing, I still believe there is a racist motivation to your criticism that you seem unaware of. Just like when you liked the "sarcastic" racist comment without knowing that it would offend some people. You have to recognize that the backlash against this game would never have started if one of the protagonists was not black. Of course there are a few issues in regards to historical accuracy, but nothing out of the ordinary for a western company making a game about an Eastern culture. Most of these issues can be easily fixed, for instance Ubisoft took out the flag that they had used in the game without authorization, they issued an apology explaining that it was a mistake. So your argument that the game shouldn't be released because it's criminal doesn't stand. Many movies come across legal troubles for copyright infrigment, yet they are still released, given that they fix the problem. Many historical mistakes were also made in the representation of 1789 Paris in the game Assassin's Creed Unity, but at the end of the day it is a game, not a work to be taught in schools. Furthermore, many Japanese, and non-Japanese, animes, tv shows, and movies romanticize the samurai era, and make unrealistic depictions. The people who made the Shogun TV show often said they tried to be historically accurate in interviews, yet the show obviously has many historical inaccuracies, such as the teeth of the lady not being darkened. Why specifically attack this game then? Let me guess, because it has a black protagonist. When it comes to your definition of samurai, I don't mean to correct you, or pretend that I know more about this period than you do, but even in one of the most celebrated Japanese works, 黒澤明の七人の侍, which takes place in the same period as this game, it is said that many samurais had criminal behaviors. So Yasuke's actions do not seem particularly out of place. In addition, how can you tell that his behavior is not that of a hero, do you know the story of the game? No. Please don't judge a work when you have so little information about it. All in all, I don't blame you, because Japan has historically been such a homogeneous society, there is not much education about racism, unlike societies where people from different ethnicties have to live together. So you probably lacked the education to realize how your opinion was biased by racism. For instance, in this video you're calling out woke culture, but I'm sure you're deeply unaware of what woke culture is, it was first and foremost a movement that meant to fight for minorities, including Asian people. In the West, people against woke culture are much more likely of racism towards Japanese than people who support it. If you ever read this and want to provide an answer, please answer the following as truthfully and honestly as you can: would you have originally started this criticism if the samurai was not black?
For the record, I thought the comment you talked about in your apology was sarcastic/humorous too. I do know, however, that it can be interpreted as making fun of black people, depending on how one interprets it. It's almost impossible to catch all of the nuances in a language unless it's your own one, and even then it can be hard at times. 😊 I don't think an apology was needed, but I can only praise you for offering one anyway, and I wish that more people on the internet would be as mature and open to criticism as you are.
6:31 no it isnt that we understand it is fiction. What they said and what we are telling you, is that they literally tell you, in all of the games it is a work of fiction based on real history.
9:42 no it wont nor they have to dk that cause it is obvious it is fiction. It is a game. Not a hisotry lesson nor the games have ever been about learning history. Also literally early in your video people told you that in al of the games it said it is fiction. This is no different
15:03 ok now you are just flat out lying here and being bad faith. First I was giving you credit fir admitting you dont know anything about these things but more time you talked, you made yourself look way worse by acting as if you a realiable source or the end all, be all of what is facts, as you shown an your videos that you are wrong and also being bad faith with your takes on these issues, to the point of lying or doubling down, than admiting you were wrong or something esle
Hello, thank you for all the thoughtful responses!

You can't judge the game on just a few trailers Yasuke is a African Samurai superhero
