R.C. Bray’s golden voice is the cause of my audiobook addiction several years ago. Started with the audible freebie with the Martian, and took off from there. My library now is easily 90% R.C. narrated, as I specifically look for his narrations when browsing for new series to enjoy. Not only is his voice magnificent and his narrations so professionally done, but his accent game is absolutely on point!

Six years later, this video is a wealth of information for audiobook novices like myself. Thank you for your humor and awesome, easy-to-understand instructions. Ta for now!

Amazing 👌🙏 one of my favourite 2 narrators, I cant read in silence, put music on I turn into some sort of lyrical genius. Been doing live Mc madness for years, jut growing my confidence helping artists get vocals on there tracks, a while back i started writing and narrating a story of my own but didn't have a clue about pause/spacing reading speed. This really makes me wanna have another go 🙏 thank you sir

Hi Bob, just came across your vid. Frank was an old friend of mine. We worked together back in the 80s just as his audiobook career was taking off before he left for LA. I remember Recorded Books built a small recording studio in his apartment in New York. His accident and subsequent passing was a great loss to audiobook listeners and he's still considered one of the best.

    Hi Bob,
    You have a wonderful gift.
My kids and I loved the Martian. Now me and the other monkeys are enjoying the Expiditionary Force audiobooks.
Thanks for bringing Skippy the Magnificent to life.

Anyone know where to find the VPre plugin he mentions at 14:59? Looks like vpre.net and vsonics.com are no longer in service.

I assume that your running the Vocal Rider plugin live and adding the other plugins, DeBreath, Compression, EQ, etc... afterwards, in post production, correct?

I'm about to cross the finish line for my first narration job. It is very very hard. The production aspect is ridiculously hard. The narration isn't easy, but it's fun enough to make it easier. The editing feels like a chore...bore...but it's necessary. I suck at the editing part. I know the QA team will say something to me, but I'm willing to redo whatever I need to, so I can help make this book series a success. ACX Rocks!

I know this post was 2 years ago (its now Feb. 2019), but I hope you kept practicing. I've done narration now for a bit over a year. It's oh, so much easier now than in the beginning. And now that I know more what I'm doing, a lot of the mistakes I no longer make, so the editing is even move easier.

RC Bray is the very best in audio book voices. I have purchased “meh” authors to listen to him narrate. He has made “meh” authors great. Talented authors superstars. He is awesome.

Look you were given a deep voice and you can read and you went for a career that honors those abilities. Just like a sports player you give effort yet its almost all god given.

Don't have audibles right so I'm probably only hearing old stuff but I just wish there was enough money in it to do it closer to the old radio days. I just wish he could at least work with one female! Yea or actually go all out and have one reader per character. Is it coming? Surely audiobooks must be growing or will audibles just dominate and serve it up audiobook for the people style.

Speaking of audio levels, this audio constantly clips and is up and down. Irritating to listen to frequently.
