I do remember these figures. They were only sold in comic shops. Wasn't a bad line. You can still find them for fair prices too. I'm sure Skybolt toys would love to have a timemachine and use this Junkman endorsement back in the 90's. :)
I don’t remember these toys. But the design reminds me of all the independent 90’s cheesecake heroine comics like Witchblade, Shi, Lady Death and Fathom with that Jim Lee Mike Mignola and Micheal Turner art style.
One of the coolest all-girl figure lines that I really love is Cy Girls. More akin to old school GI Joe in scale and detail. And though they had looks, they were also badass. My favorite (Blaze) came with a pretty realistic SPAS-12 shotgun which I changed out for a P-90. She even had mirror shades and a drop-leg holster which carried a Desert Eagle, as well as tons of accessories including additional hands that could be swapped out so she's wearing fingerless gloves.
The 90's were a lot of fun- thanks for including Nira-X in your review. :) she was the first figure that I designed back in the day and it lead to other action figure design work and more comic book fans for my creator-owned book- in fact, I'm still putting food on the table thanks to drawing Nira-X and having fans that are nice enough to keep letting me do it:) Have a great week! :)
It was great back then. A great time for comics also. Great time for the smaller comics also. Could have done a real review on them as they look great.
@@BillMausart Dude, a whole era of mine too! -Still have all the Nira and Zen comics you worked on. High school art project I did a big Zen painting in your style. You're the man, bro! It was you and Everette...

My family owns a antique mall and I deal in retro (Gen X) toys. Vint girls toys are hard to find except for vintage My Little Pony. So my 45 year old burly biker a** gets giggles as I walk outta second hand shops with armfulls of MLP looking like a brony bear. 😂 I just smack my butt, "That's right, wanna see my cutie mark?, friendship is magic BeYoch!". Those were early editions to the baby level collector market that the Speculators crashed in the 90's. They were strictly for the comic shop nerds, and were more added heroes in the Iron Age of comics. MacFarlane wrote the rules for comicbook figures, everyone else rushed to catch up. The characters are from the Lightning Comics line. The Detroit comic style was raw and cheap to produce, tending towards black and white, minimal colors, and storyline infused with talent, rather then flash and the 90's Big Two perchance for grabbing headlines. Wildstorm comics with no-feet drawing Rob Liefeld, Hellboy artist Mike Mignola, Marc Silvestri with Witchblade and Top Cow fame are among the pedigree of the time. It was also the time of the Ashcan Edition- sampler comic books for little to no cost that showcased the work. These characters are all from those days. 1:07 "A lot of times it was hard to get a female action figure." Looking at the thumbnail, I think it would have been hard AFTER getting a female action figure. I had to settle on Baroness from GI Joe as my bathroom buddy. If I had these, I'd have lived in there and gone blind. This company missed me by a few years and knew exactly what they were doing.
All these girls are from independent comics. Her name is Nira X. The one other thing that helped in the 90's was kids wanted all The X-Men of both sexes.😅
I have several of these.very much a bunch of what were the "bad girls"from lesser known comic book characters.they definitely were all sold at comic book shops as a regular retailer would've not had such scantily clad ladies with such heaving breasts in the figure aisle next to power rangers and ninja turtles.
But seriously, I really wish Mego would of made most of their Women figures a little shorter. The height is 8" but if they have high heels or even the Star Trek boots they are taller than the men, looks strange. So you got Charlie's Angels taller than the Hulk 🤣
Them chicks sre from comics they even had guy figures the original Ultra man do you remember vampirella they even made her action figure it's in their toy line

Double Impact looks like across between the Dirty Pair manga and Rob Leifeld's Masada from Youngblood
These are cool. Never heard of them before.

It's cold in Double Impact's package.

I remember these, but never picked any up. They just reminded me of bad Rob Liefeld artwork.
I had the Wal-Mart exclusive - Double Inpact figure. It came with baby oil and Kleenex

They weren't as well-sculpted as the McFarlane female figures, and collectors noticed that back then.
The McFarlane stuff was so much better than literally anything that had ever come before it wasn't even a comparison.
I don't remember most of these. I would have wanted them all, but I only remember seeing Hellina, Vampirilla and Angela from Spawn.
I noticed that the famous Junkman Channel Poppin end card didn't appear in this one.
It would be awesome if they were 3.75” scale, they’d be perfect for kit bashing.

These are pretty cool, but I guarantee someone would get upset nowadays and try and make the company censor the figures or something.
