His range is absolutely crazy he's so good. From roles like this where he's an incredible Villain to Mr.Krabs from sponge bob. Clancy is a extremely great actor.
Clancy Brown is great. And it’s hilarious knowing that he’s also the voice of Mr Krabs from SpongeBob Squarepants along with Lex Luthor in Superman the Animated Series and Justice League.
The Kurgan was so iconic that the Highlander franchise was never able top top him. They came close with a few villans in the series, but they never had an distinct look to match their character like the Kurgan.
I hope Clancy Brown decided in this role he was going to be THE bad ass of all baddies especially with lines like - its better to burn out, then fade away!
I think the problem with that is that most/all sequels were utterly shit! Although I would say Michael Ironside was the 2nd best as general Katana....even if that movie was notoriously horrendous lol
I always wanted to build my own Kurgan costume but never had good enough pictures to work from, now seeing this as a whole project has me crapping my pants about where to start!
Greatest armour in a movie ever. I am fanboying over this being the subject of an entire video. That helmet is just next level. Right out of a Heavy Metal comic cover.
Oh man, I always loved highlander and The Kurgan in particular. Clancy Brown was just such an iconic villain in that film. Lovely to see the details in his costume!
Highlander is my number 1 movie of all time and now I am jealous that you get to see the hero suit for The Kurrgan. My dream prop is a replica of the sword he uses for most of the movie.
Had the pleasure of meeting Adam at the Brisbane Australia SupaNova Comic-Con Expo last weekend. (If anyone saw me, I was the person with ginger-brown long hair wearing a Ghost In The Shell/RoboCop mashup t-shirt) Was an absolute delight and pleasure to meet a pure hearted gentleman that was Adam, thanks for the compliment on my t-shirt and the very nice words congratulating me on recently beating a cancerous brain tumour. These videos have been a great way on rediscovering my passions and helping regain confidence in my works as a content creator and hobbies on messing around with mechanical and electronic devices. (such as cars for example) All the best Adam and crew, Jude Howarth
Hey JT, saw you on the weekend! Loved the shirts you had on. (You looked amazing as Hannah/girl mode on Sunday) Was good to catch up, hopefully next con we can do it again.
@@tested That's genuinely made my day. He was a true highlight of the Convention weekend. Hopefully him and I can run into each other again sometime soon. (and yes, I did end up buying that custom made poster of him as Rick Deckard)
One of those strange, beautiful 80s action movies that never really needed a sequel. Having said that the TV show is pretty decent if you're looking for more Highlander that doesn't break the lore too much.
So amazing to see the Kurgan's armour from one of my favourite films - Highlander! I've always felt a connection to him as my grandfather's middle name was Kirgan. :D "There can be only one!"
It surreal to remember all the iconic live action roles Clancy Brown has had while being so use to his voice acting. I said his name and my friends didnt recognize it until I rattled off some of his iconic roles. Though I think the Kurgan was the one that clicked with them
I met my wife in 1990. I was dressed as a saxon in mail taking part in a battle practice at the downs in Bristol, she looked at me and in a mad moment I likcked her arm " I am a worm" she laughed and 34 years later I have to thank the kurgan for a great marriage 👍
The Kurgan was cocky and thought he was invincible, especially back in the period when he wore the suit. What is funny is that he does have a neck scar where someone came close to giving him the King Louis XVI treatment.
@ It was Sean Connery that gave him the scar in that in the fight that mostly destroyed the castle. Ironically, Sean is the only Scottish person in “Highlander” and he’s supposed to be from Egypt.
@@dogenjinn4806Yeah The quickening was awful at least with Highlander 3the sourcer it went back to it,s roots of going back/forth from present to past timeline. Clancy Brown is one of those actors that make you hate the villain with a burning passion. To me that is the gold standard for a villain, that you hate the villains after the movie ends. Mad respect for him and his works.
then theres the even rarer actor that makes you hate the villian so much you have a dislike for the actor for playing them too well lol *ramsey bolton*
What a fabulous costume,Clancy Brown has been a favourite actor of mine since he played the Kurgan, I dread to think how much it'll go for, sadly I haven't got near enough money to even contemplate bidding for it.😊
"Hollywood has done skull helmets numerous times, never as good as this". Come on Adam! Don't forget about General Kael from Willow! I'd say on par in the skull helmet department with Kurgan.
Palaeontologist here. The helmet and pauldrons are loosly based on a some sort of feline, but I believe them to be sculpted. The knee skull and jaws though, look to be impressions (cast) from a real dear skull.
The kungen is a great villian not because he is done right, but because he is done real. Real human actions what if a sociopath lived 4ever? Their ego and cheesy crap would be over the top. Because why would they hold bad? Clancey didnt kno it but he played it PERFECTLY. Eventhough its cheesy its perfect for real life
There's no way this guy hasn't tried this on at least once 😂 If I bought this and it arrived on my doorstep: "Thanks Mr. Delivery Guy, have a nice rest of your day!" 3 minutes later - "ANOTHER TIME MACLEOOOOOD!!!"
Absolutely brilliant to see it all together. It looked too difficult to copy though so I cosplay the later, bald Kurgan. I wish I could find some pirate boots!
After more information has come out surrounding Carlos Hathcock, there was a group of people that retested the myth. You guys tried on MythBusters and proved it not only plausible but confirmed in the first try. I should suggest that you watch it as it’s actually really cool.
Stephen certainly should have addressed this in the video, but it is acknowledged in the listing: "Interestingly, the helmet in its existing state has two additional teeth on either side of the bottom row. The construction and finish of these teeth are different from the rest of the helmet, indicating that these were added later. One possibility is that the helmet sustained damage and was incorrectly restored based on an old design or that they were added for a scene that didn't make the final cut of the film."
One of the most bad ass suits of armour ever put to film. It's up there with General Kael's armour from Willow and Dracula's armour from Bram Stoker's Dracula.
OKAY. Nerdiest project idea (probably not original): Create a database for prop component usage over film. Like tracking the Wilhelm Scream of props. What other productions had that belt been used in? Good luck!
Does he or his shop have the jacket / vest Kurgan wore when he came into NY? It sports the trophies he took from other immortals throughout the ages! Cool Kurgan outfit! Do you have a sword to go with the costume
The Kurgan definitely collected trophies. In the modern era section of Highlander, you can see Ramirez's pearl ear ring attached to his leather jacket.
My favorite scene from Highlander was when McLeod and the Kurgan had their chat in the church. Kurgan, who comes across as a savage, lets his IQ show when he calls Ramirez the immortal "an effete snob." From that moment on, you look for more clues, and it really fleshes out his character.
The Kurgan was one of the few "Bad Guys" that scared me as a kid ... such a great villain indeed!!! Like many others have probably said or sill say later, Clancy made that character!!
Great long term project! I remember when the Kurgan’s sword came up for auction. Does anyone know what happened to Rutger Hauer’s trench coat from Blade Runner?
As in who won Batty's coat when it came up in 2022? I know Ryan Condal shared on his collecting podcast that he went after it and lost. I'd imagine the owner of the hero blaster Dan Lanigan might have as well, so he could be a half-way decent bet. But I haven't heard who won.
2:55 I thought he said “when he first see him he’s on horseback and it must’ve given him an erection” lmao I was like “Wuuuut?! They designed the costume to accommodate that?!” Lmfaoo I’m very sleepy. Time for bed. Hahaha
It's the Scythian/ Sarmatian influences that shine through. We are, after all, dealing with people who turned the skulls of their enemies into drinking cups and the flayed skins of their enemies as saddle clothes. Human skin was used for other items, and they favoured skin from their enemies' hands for items such as arrow quivers.
I'm actually subscribed to a few auction sites for arms and armour mostly, but the other day I got a catalogue through for this auction. The prices are waaay out of my league though...
4:23 in video. on the left arm... tell me that doesn't look like the Predator's armband computer? That ties Highlander into second movie where they are not from Earth AND ties Highlander into Weyland-Yutani Universe. Also in same frame- WHY does the reptile skin have nipples?!

Growing up, I thought Clancy Brown in Highlander was THE villain of villains, what an incredible actor that dude is.

He definietly was, none of the other evil immortals even came close to the Kurgan.
He's definitely one of my favorite actors. And to think he's also the voice of Mr. Krabs on Spongebob. 🤣
