    So happy to FINALLY visit Croatia (our 27th country out of 50), because we have heard nothing but fantastic things about this one-of-a-kind country! 🇭🇷 We managed to try 12 different Croatian foods and drinks on our first day in Split, which is quite a bit of food for us, especially when we’re heavily jet-lagged haha! Nonetheless, everything was absolutely delicious, and the food only got better and better the more we traveled around Croatia. Stay tuned for more good eats and lots of adventure as we discover more of this beautiful country! 🤗

    Classic dishes, good job on that. But most places shown are extremely touristic. Goluzarije though has indeed the Best Fritule in town. :)

    I was there just for one afternoon this summer. Will keep these suggestions for when I come back. Loved your food tour! Had heard about Croatia being beautiful, it really is, and feels so European, but different as you say.

    Croatia was once past of the Empire of Venice, known as Venetian Dalmatia. I guess the dog breed comes from there too. When I was in college my rich friends would go to Croatia's Yacht Week. Must be nice.

      @garywhite7886 23 дня назад

      No , parts of Dalmatia were under venice, from Zadar to Split .Where i come from in (Dalmatia) we were free. Croatia was never a part of venice.

    • @ana-pi6ut
      @ana-pi6ut 21 день назад

      @@garywhite7886 Yes, parts of Croatia was indeed under Venetian control at different times. The Republic of Venice, particularly from the late medieval period through the early modern era, established dominion over portions of the Dalmatian coast, which includes areas of present-day Croatia. Venice was especially interested in the Dalmatian coast due to its strategic position along key Adriatic Sea trade routes.
      In the 15th century, the Venetian Republic formally acquired Dalmatia from the Kingdom of Hungary. This Venetian control extended to cities like Zadar, Split, and Šibenik, which still reflect Venetian influence in their architecture and urban design today. Venice ruled parts of Dalmatia until the early 19th century, when Napoleon dissolved the Venetian Republic in 1797, transferring control of these regions to the Austrian Empire.
      Other parts of Croatia, particularly inland regions like Zagreb and Slavonia, remained outside Venetian rule and were influenced more by Hungarian and Habsburg authorities.

    Zagreb is crazy cheap, but it comes with the territory, barely any tourists visit Zagreb, it’s all about Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar.

    Overpriced restaurants, “shellfish” is no fish at all, burek is combined with yogurt, ocean flavor should not be present in Croatian food cause we are so far away from all the oceans.
