Master of the Aztecs! My chosen profession hasn't helped me all that much with my modeling projects. At least being high school chemistry teacher has kept me alive working with hazardous materials! Amazing to watch this develop!
Hi Lou. This is definitely a marathon rather than a sprint! It's looking excellent so far and I'm sure Phil will be happy to get his masks. It looks like it would be appropriate to provide many spare window masks in the final sets if the multiple aztec passes are likely to lift this number. As always, looking forward to next week's thrilling instalment! 👍😁
I know I'm repeating myself but, here is another masterpiece Lou. Such great and intriqate work. I think the best part is your vinyl stencil use. Just wondering, a lot of us might like to see a video of the work involved making stencils (of course, without giving away any "trade secrets"). Thanks as always!
Paint on the lower section looks good Lou! Was worried it was going to be left more powder blue. Alot of builders paint it too blue. The Enterprise was more on the greyish side. It looked blue in the series because of the studio lights on the model. The lights gave too much of a blue tint on film. That powder blue with the duckegg is perfect.
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of that French Blue that you and Phil picked out, but once it's toned down with a blending coat, I'm sure it will be just fine.
My mind seems boggled. Apparently your ancestry includes a large percentage of rock. Patient rock. I've always admired what you've accomplished with Aztek Dummy, not just as a product line but a concept. This monstrous D, with all the ability to see everything, seems to beg for every jot and tittle to be exploited. Yipes. It is fun to watch. Thank goodness I have no plans to make one of these. Still, a field of dreams...

This will look amazing when finished next to the similar sized Grissom! I know Helios also make a 1:650 scale Excelsior, would you consider tackling that one next?
@@andrewcoulthard-clark I dont know. The short cuts they took on this kit have left a bad taste. It would have to be a great deal for me to get back in that pool.
Hello Lou, Perhaps a move vertically into your loft space could solve your space problem. Also I'm worried to in using fibre fill due to fire safety how do you solve this lou?
Hi Lou, question do you think using black styrine for the 3 red LED's and as a light block barier/light blocking to device the main cell from the bissard and then using black tulip after gluing he LEDs in solve the light blocking issue ? (I know you have already solved the issue with in this video, but my question is for your opinion and info) thanks.
Really Lou? I'd just gotten into bed because I figured you were running late when I got the notification for you. I have a question - do you prefer the lighting for the bridge set in generations or the TV series? I was watching Generations with David Carson's commentary on and found a new appreciation for it.
@@aztekdummy I get what you mean but I'm so conflicted - the way the actors are shot and lit as a consequence is beautiful, but the set itself I felt could have been lighter.

Lou, any plans for releasing these azteking masks scaled down for the 1/1400 scale kit? Relatedly, do you plan on making masks for the DS9 kit from AMT?

Looking fantastic Lou! I'm loving what you you two are doing with these. They're looking so good.
Your art in making these masks and templates are exquisite. I'm always in awe at seeing the process
Very nice, Lou! Loving this model. I personally enjoyed the tape reveals

it was plenty blue in real life. if anything, the lighting washed out some of the details. Granted, it was really blue in Generations.
Watch you every week. Always a great show. Did you know they make liquid electrical tape? Great for sealing boards.
but it smells soo bad.

it's all very low heat and voltage. I wouldn't worry

if you can sand the 1400 D smooth. it's those darn raised panel lines that are the hold up. and no, nothing for DS9
