Back when I was in middle school I actually rode on the Dragon Challenge ride. It was breath taking and it's actually kind of sad to hear that it was closed down because people weren't willing to follow the rules.
I still called it Dueling Dragons because that’s what I knew it as. Definitely the best ride in the park for me. I was upset when they stopped dueling, got over it, then was more upset when it was shut down completely
You didn't mention that the 10 year old boy that died on that German water slide was actually beheaded, which totally horrified me! Image his poor family and other riders having to view the extremely bloody and grotesque horror they can never unsee! All these deaths and accidents are a tragedy, but for some reason this one is so, so gut wrenching.
So the Dueling Dragons one wasn't actually dangerous, people were literally not following the warnings and others got hurt. Who could have seen that coming-
The Smiler was human error, that didn't even make sure the tracks were clear before overriding the safety feature!! Im just glad I got to ride at least 40 rollercoasters before I became deathly afraid of them and airplanes
With most of the new, high tech state of the art roller coasters. The human element is pretty much taken out of it. Pretty much, the only type of error, is going to be either a computer error, or a mechanical one...
When I was 8 I went on my first roller coaster. It broke down at the peak and we were stuck in the sky for about 45 minutes. The entire time you would hear creaking and other unsettling noises. Little me was absolutely terrified and thought I was going to plummet to my end. Obviously they finally got us down, but I haven't trusted park rides since. Don't even like ladders. This video helps me not regret ever setting foot on another coaster since.
Out of all this videos of course you had to talk crap about Russians. How about ride does not work less you loose a leg, im sure you saw those 2 girls loosing a leg
I agree cuz I’m Russian and my friend is American and I learn from hit btw back to the story so I was 14 and I went to a ride and one of the things got destroyed and it olmost killed me and the other ppl so idk what happened but I’m glad that they shut it down
19:10 - I actually went to High School with the girl that was operating the ride at the time that this happened (I believe she was a year older than me) and it was something that she had never been able to mentally recover from, as one can imagine. It was actually forbidden for any of us to talk about at school because of how horrible of an accident it was.
The fact that when I went on the green lantern, not only was it terrible, my friend’s phone flew out of his pocket and hit me in the face on the way down. Glad I didn’t lose an eye though....
@dnash I’m sure you did. 🙄 That water park was more of a watery grave than anything. I was sad that it was shut down, but it had too many safety issues.
It actually reopened awhile back under a different name. It’s still pretty dangerous; the water is still insanely cold and multiple of the rides that were there when I went a few years back have already been shut down. Some things never change, many things just get makeovers.
Six Flags St. Louis had a standup roller coaster called The Trail Blazer. It was shut down when a lady was killed after her seatbelts didn't work, and the ride started moving.
Actually the Verrückt had a weight minimum of 600lb so they were under what was required. The little boy who passed away was decapitated by the metal bars holding the netting and his brother (close in age, I can’t remember if he was the older or younger) saw the entire thing happen from below. His name was Caleb Schwab. Rest in heaven sweet Caleb
My stepmom died on a ride. She aspirated on her vomit because of the gravity. I put this out here because I would like ppl to know to try and wait half hour after they eat before going on any ride. Good thing you're alive though because that place looked scary af and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did lol
The snapping cables wouldn't be my main concern with that incident, just imagine if they had released the ride right when that happened or any time after, they would have been launched violently up against the right side support at high speed and probably both died or been extremely injured.
In launch would have been a more spectacular accident but right there on the ground snapping cables can take your head off your shoulders. So many people have been decapitated attempting to hook spring cables on garage doors, others have lost limbs and the tension on those cables is nothing in comparison to the ones on that ride. If that cables had snapped when he was getting in the ride and struck him, it would have killed him instantly right there in front of his parents.
@@RosemaryWOF shit man, I haven’t touched my profile in years. I’ve only just commented on stuff since making this account. But thank you for reminding me to clean up some high school cringe.
Speaking of sore, I sometimes get a sore back end from biking for long periods of time. Say maybe 1-2 hours at a time. I've hilariously dubbed it as "biker's butt", easily treated with a relaxing, steaming hot Epsom salt bath. At least, that's what I did whenever the issue arose, and within the hour, I felt a lot better. No more pain, sitting on my rear end, LOL! Thank goodness for Epsom salt, eh?
The Fujin Raijin II ride was such a horrible incident. The woman who lost her life was only 19, and another person saw how she died from just 2 feet away. Absolutely traumatizing.
Same with one that a kid fell from a drop ride and his mother saw him die, he like exploded and she said “I saw his blood and brains at my shoes” and a kid went on a water side and hit a bar and his head was ripped off and the same one was in this video, the verruckt
I grew up going to Dream world Australia and loved the white rapids ride, however a few years ago it claimed lives when a water pump failed causing the raft to overturn. The ride closed down and dream world asked the community what we would like to see replace it.
Then stay away from cars too. Cars are actually even more dangerous. More car accidents happen a day than roller coaster accidents a year. EDIT: I really wish it that I included something that made it clear I was sarcastic, But I feel like the first line of this reply should have made that clear.
It happens so easily. I grew up in Vernon down the road from Action Park (Mountain Creek when I lived there) n I almost drowned on the cannonball slide. They hire all the local kids so no one is trained and now most rides you have to wear a football helmet.
@@grayanddevpdx Because almost every American rides in a car every day, smart one. The statistics aren't the same. One you have to be in for responsibilities, the other not so much.
@@grayanddevpdx You're a good example of when someone gets called out on their bullshit only to claim "It was a joke". Lmao Don't lie man, you weren't joking.
They had awesome ideas. They just had to work a few "bugs" out. Maybe provide a hockey helmet for some rides. I can hear the owners defense lawyer when speaking to an injured plaintiff, "so you obviously have never made an omelette". And creating your own bogus insurance contracts is cutting edge business strategy. Kudos to that sleazy weasel who started it all. And didn't they have a ride called The Crippler?
The dueling dragons ride looks like something I would have enjoyed if the authorities of the park had kept it longer. I find the theme and design of this ride really cool, and I wished that the incident didn't have to happen. :/
I live in Orlando and rode that coaster at Universal several times. Ice was a bit more chill while Fire was more intense. Both were incredible though, and at the speeds they travelled, that loop seemed like you would were really about to die. It was awesome!
I recall that ride, it was horrible..shoot the rapids also had issues and found they closed it a year after, i felt bad for the people stuck at the top waiting to go down 👀💔 i was waiting for my family because i was too spooked to go on it, and i was too scared to go on son of beast, thank goodness i avoided both 👀😱
this was the first ever theme park accident video i watched 2 yrs ago! ty for posting this! i watch videos like this so much now! the smile one was my favourite
I survived "Traction Park" (Action Park) as we called it in NJ. I went there every summer with my friends while they were open and reopened completely naïve to how dangerous that place was. I never got seriously injured, mostly scrapes and bruises. But despite that and an obvious guardian angel looking over my shoulder I have great memories from visiting.
I live in Cincinnati Ohio and I have gone to King’s Island every year for 40 years. There are no words to do justice to how brutal the Son of Beast truly was. I am a HUGE coaster fanatic, and I was there the day that accident happened. I refused to ride the ride the year prior after getting hurt myself on the ride. That ride is not the only ride there to be torn down due to injury or death. The Space Commander at Kings Island was tore down as well due to the death of a female passenger falling out of the ride while inverted and over 100 feet in the air.
I graduated high school in Indiana and we went to King’s Island for family vacations often. I remember riding the Son of Beast and it was awful, glad it’s gone.
I had been on the Smiler before the accident happened (not the same day) and despite it being a tragic happening, the ride is amazing when the staff are doing their job properly, it also didn’t stop me riding it again after it reopened 😊
i rode it today n it was perfectly fine altho due to the rain or sumit it had to be tested like 10-15 times before reopening. it took 2hrs 30 mins for us to queue and for them to fix it. they have extra safety measures and it was completely fine when riding it
Not a coaster, but there is a military building on the Navy base in Coronado, CA that is a perfect swastika, when viewed from the air. I believed they tried painting the roof segments in different colors.
To be fair, before the Nazi's took the swast!ka symbol, it wasn't a bad symbol. In ancient Indian language in Sanskrit, it meant, "well-being". So depending on when the ride was made, the symbol could have had a different meaning. Just saying Lol
I rode Dueling Dragons back in the day. It was absolutely amazing. I miss it so much. It's a shame that we can't have nice things because people can't follow directions. Typical, though
Same thing with Son of Beast. If you’ve ever rode The Beast you would know the whole concept is based around a violent ride. Of course Son of Beast was going to be even more violent. People are a bunch of pansies.
I think they should rename it the amputation/amputator so that people can know upfront just what could potentially happen, especially considering how little brain functioning seems 2 be going on w/ the people being entrusted 2 operate this said ride It gives new meaning 2 the phrase; operator, head, space, & timing 😱🙄
Back in the 60s, we rode the world's tallest roller-coaster in Crystal Beach, Ontario Canada. It was fabulous by Lake Erie and it seemed as if we were riding over the Lake. Speeding through the air,it was thrilling and magical. Sadly due to safety reasons, the roller-coaster was reduced in size Shortly thereafter, the race ro have the highest coaster began in earnest with loopholes around the safety, many theme parks built one after one after one.. I also has a neighbour who was horribly injured at one of Disney's water slides. He fortunately had insurance because Disney tried to cover it up.That's a story or another time if you want. Have a lovely day.
Honestly, the woman who put a seatbelt ON HER KNEES should of never done that She should of reported not fitting the seat belt, it wasn't the parks fault
Yes she shouldn't have done that and yes she is partly to blame, but the park should also have people who check the passengers restraints before launching the ride (Canada's wonderland by my place does that).
The ten year old on the Verruckt was actually decapitated, not just ejected. I have a few more details. Caleb was the State Representative of Kentucky's son. The two women were part of his family. His older brother and him were supposed to be staying together, but the employee at the ride separated them, and the older brother went first. Caleb followed, and the raft lifted into the air at that horrible bump after that huge drop, causing the poor boy to be decapitated by the "safety nets" because he hit his head on a bar suspending them. I apologize if I got anything wrong, but if you want the story, there are videos on it. Mind you, if you're sensitive to blood, don't veiw these videos, rather look up the story.
I live in Kansas City and to be able to say remember that water slide accident is insane and the way that boy died is so awful an gut wrenching. It must have been traumatizing to witness. Going somewhere like a water park you don’t think that it could be the last thing you do or the last time you see someone you love and care about. The fact something like the Verrückt was allowed to open is truly insane and to think all this could have been avoided if they didn’t cut corners. I’m deeply sorry for the people who cared about him a slide like Verrückt should never have existed and hopefully never will again. It infuriates and makes me very sad that this happened but there is nothing we can do except for learn from our mistakes. May that boy Rest In Peace💔💔
I’ve been to ACTION PARK when I was younger. Most of their “rides” were dangerous, but the one I got hurt on was a ride that has carts you sat in, and were basically on a cement luge riding down a mountain. The pull brake never worked and twice around a twist I was thrown off, onto rocks. Bad scrapes and cuts. I went to the first aid tent and they sprayed this red shit on my wounds that hurt worse than the cuts themselves. Man that place was fun, but dangerous. I have many stories from there.
If you bash your head on a rock and die, the park isn't responsible since the rocks are not considered part of the ride... yes, that actually happened.
Anyone from that time period remembers ACTION PARK as being the best park hands down.. Much better than Riverside or Busch Gardens.. what an amazing time/theme park.. getting hurt was normal. Glad your injuries weren't worse..
In 2002 I went on the Dueling Dragon with my son & 11 year old daughter. I thought I had properly buckled her in. The attendant girl was going to every person making sure all seat belts were buckled, she would pull on it & when she got to my daughter she pulled on it & it opened right up! My heart felt like it dropped into my stomach. I was so shocked because I thought I had snapped it closed. The young lady buckled it & If I remember correctly she then pulled down the bar over her. Shortly after that the ride took off. Afterwards, I was still so shocked by that, I never took them on a roller coaster again. Even to this day I have not been on a roller coaster. Thank God they had an attendant going to each person making sure that they were properly buckled in.
A lot of rides will pop right back open if you do it yourself. . Attendants are trained to check every single one themselves for that reason, it’s to make sure 100% it is secured the way it is supposed to and by who it is supposed too. Still extremely scary to think of you get that one attendant that doesn’t double check and it’s not secure the right way it could be devastating.
I rode savage son of the beast and man that rides really does some damage. My sides and lower back mainly because it jerks you side to side without padding on the walls of the coaster you get off feeling like you fought Tyson. Was a really fun ride and a couple minutes I felt fine after. My heart goes out to all those families and people who passed or were severely injured.
I went to Schlitterbaum a week before that boy died. Firefighters say he was decapitated, not thrown out. I was gonna get on but the line was long so I said "no". I think that saved my child's life because she was the same size as the boy😬
My oldest two kids rode Verruckt the weekend before the fatal crash. My middle son weighed 120 lbs and he commented how insane the ride was. His restraint didn't secure him to the ride and the whole decent he was airborne. He 'crashed' back down into his seat just before the ride started the uphill portion. Said he would have never rode it if he knew it was that scary.
Males could literally have their testicles damaged in a situation like that. I've heard about it happening to BMX Bike racers from bouncing up and down on the seat on rough terrain. I can't believe the people that invent these thrill rides don't worry more about lawsuits. They must figure they're going to make so much money off them, they figure they can afford it. I don't assume something is safe just because they say it is, people still need to use good judgement, and if it looks humanly impossible, it just might be. Maybe a lot of folks are just getting lucky that they don't get hurt.
The sad part about that child being only 10 years old very sad day . I always hoped senators in congress could do something for these rides to protect these children. So many adults and children get hurt or killed on these rides it's sad. Well hopefully the senator that lost his ten-year-old child on this ride hopefully they can do something to protect everybody.
I was working at Cedar Point in 1990 when the Iron Dragon didn't stop swinging before it pulled into the depot and ran into the wall. An older gentleman was with his son or grandson if I remember correctly. The kids was banged up, but the man had some significant leg injuries. Roller coasters getting hit by lightning is also scary as hell! The Corkscrew got hit one day as a storm was rolling in, and shut down every ride in the park for a while. We rode in the second seat of the first car the next day, and at the top of the big initial drop, the car just stopped as we were hanging over the top of the hill. We sat up there for about 10 minutes. My friend and I who worked there were telling the two girls ahead of us stories about the park, when we mentioned that lightening hit that very spot the day before. One girl said, "Wait, WHAT??" No kidding, at that moment the ride started again and we dropped. I've never heard two girls scream so loud during the entire coaster. Good times. 🤣
I went to action park in 88 I think. I was seven and at that age I was well aware that it wasn’t safe. Nobody in my family got hurt but I did have several classmates who returned from vacation battered and bruised. There were a few times I was legitimately terrified for my life.
Omg action park was built 20 mins from my house ! I still here horror stories. Thankfully I was born after. The whole park is gone and overgrown. It’s right next to trumps golf coarse 😂 lol
"Smiler" is a character on the British TV show "Last of the Summer Wine". He's a pretty miserable and depressing character, so maybe the ride is aptly named.
Action Park was insane, I went there as a kid. This video forgot to mention the Alpine Slide, a cement slide that you went down in a cart with the a small hand break between your legs. I slid across the cement when I crashed. The park owner bought ambulances to keep there cause of all the injuries daily.
Me too--sometime in the late 80s. I loved that ride! The brake was applied by default, so pulling the brake was like using a throttle. It was not a slide. It was a vehicle on a track. The rider could easily choose to go too fast. I mildly skinned my knee on it also, but it was fun.
My mom used to go to Action Park once every five weeks. She said that she was riding Surf hill and flew up and landed on someone else’s lane and crashed. But at least I have six flags in NJ now.

Smiler is safe. Coasters are safer than cars, trains, planes, and all other forms of transportation. There is even a higher chance of being killed by lightning strike than being injured on a coaster. In fact, the chance of being in a plane crash is 1 in 11,000,000, being fatally struck by lightning is 1 in 10,000,000 and being eaten by a shark is 1 in 3,750,000. The chance of being injured on any amusement ride is 1 in 24,000,000. Smiler's accident was because of human error.

Me watching these without a care in the world knowing I don’t need to worry abt getting scared of rides from the vid cause I know full well that I am never going on any from of rollercoaster 😂😂😂
there was a lazy river ride in Australia that killed an entire family when their raft flipped and they were dragged underwater by the chain drive system it was declared a lethal ride and caused the nationwide banning of all similar rides
I watched this video expecting to be the #1 worst accident actually, but it wasn’t mentioned. I was living there at the time it happened, me and one of my friends went on that ride a week before. It was the biggest shock 😞
I honestly don't understand how the thing got built. The engineer who designed it had to have known what it was going to be viewed as, probably a modern Nazi supporter.
@ 9:00 the catapult what would make it safer would be a actual capsule that can withstand a fall from higher than the ride goes so it would be a high chance of survival if it snaps mid air
Even if the capsule itself can survive the fall, engineering the seating to allow riders to survive such a fall would be astronomically cost prohibitive, if at all possible. An easier solution is to just have MORE cables, so even if 1 snaps, the rest would still be able to hold the capsule safely.
12:24 i remember hearing about the smiler accident on the news. one of the girls in the front row was interviewed and gave a horrible graphic description of what had happened to her leg. it was enough to keep me away from rollercoasters for a long time.
Action Park was famously parodied in an SNL skit with Dan Aykroyd. Among the rides he described was "Thunder Plunge", where children ride in a shopping cart down a steep hill.
At dream world on the gold coat there was a ride called the thunder river rapids ride and one day on of the water pumps stopped working and so one of the boats got stuck on the conveyer belt while another boat bumped into it and forced it sideways. 4 people were either stuck in the conveyer belt or stuck underneath and drowned. It was a really sad day for all of Australia and may those 4 people Rest In Peace.
I think it was a bit more than drowning but either way extremely tragic! I remember the day it happened and I remember riding that ride numerous times... it was a tame ride in comparison to these rides they’re talking about in this video... goes to show that it’s not always the thrill rides that can be dangerous if maintenance and upgrades aren’t carried out regularly. It’s such a tragic shame as I loved that ride but am glad it was demolished in respect to the families of the deceased...
Duelling Dragons was one of the most unique and fun rides I've ever been on. Being in the front seat as the two hurtled towards each other before pulling up was intense.
I was a huge fan of Dueling Dragons. Haven’t been to Orlando for such a long time that I didn’t even know it changed names and eventually was shut down.
There were such smooth coasters, this could have been avoided if they would have implemented metal detectors before it like they do with Rip Ride Rockit, not sure why they didn't!?
@@SerenaLorien I knew that name sounded familiar. The majority of the things that happened before I turned 18 I have on memory lockdown. So, naturally, I had all but forgotten about that ride, and Dueling Dragons, for that matter… at least until I watched this video.
An entire team went through the design and building process of Adlerflug and somehow not ONE person ever looked at it and went “hey, is it just me or does this kinda look like a swastika?”
As long as it's not turned 45 degrees, it's a positive symbol from ancient India. So considering the ride is spinning, it's only a swastika half the time. Is the ride half empty or half full?
I do not understand why they were still illegal, the swastika is many thousands of years old, i know it was used by very evil people, but common this had nothing to do with that.
@@AmigaWolf It's also notable that the much more brutal and murderous communist "winners" of WW2 and that symbol is celebrated in western universities and in hollywood. Hmmm....
This is just to warn you. Every coaster is safe, it’s more likely you’d die in a plane crash then let alone get hurt seriously on a coaster. The reason it feel was they let it mold and rot so it’d be easier to knock down. That’s a big wrecking ball ya know..
I got a job at a amusement park for this upcoming summer, we get about 1 hours of training and our practice runs are when the park is open with the guests
I had the chance to serve as an EMT at a local Six Flags and was appalled at (a) the overall lack of training, (b) the insanity of some of the rides - I mean, really, a ride that is basically a huge bungee cord that flings you up and down, back and forth? Yeah - like we'll do anything for you at the end of THAT arc should it break.... and (c) the overall lack of safety in some of the rides. Needless to say when I had the chance to get out, I did and would never serve at one again. Like the original poster, our "training" was basically following people around who had been there longer and listening to them tell us what to do if something went wrong. No thanks.
It’s a shame about the dueling dragons, those rides were by far some of my favorite coasters. Having lived in Orlando for years, it’s surprising that people don’t use the nearby lockers for personal items. There’s a locker section near each ride in the park.
I agree! That was one of my favorite rides ever! Too bad another theme park didn't take it on and keep it alive, I haven't been on the new Harry Potter one although it looks nice and fancy, It doesn't look nearly as fun to ride..
I believe the lockers weren't there originally or they weren't free. Now they're outside every coaster except FotH, and free for 2 hours to ensure riders have zero excuses for not stowing items. At one point they had metal detectors outside of Hulk & Rip Ride Rockit. They also have nets under Hulk to catch any items that somehow slip through. You even have to stow items to ride Forbidden Journey.
Part of what killed Dueling Dragons was the queue/entrance theming change. It had an amazing entrance & theming before it was converted to HP and then gutted. Inexplicably. That entrance was perfect and didn't need to change to convert to HP theming.
i went on that ride in 2016! i had no idea about the previous incident. i went with my dad and sister and it was a lot of fun! i was thinking about it the other day, i’m sad it was closed. if people could just follow the rules :( i also think if they didn’t have that one section of the ride where the coasters are only 1.5 feet apart in the first place they could have avoided any trouble.
Back in 2002 I was at Universal in November with a friend and we rode the Dueling Dragons like 10 times in a row because the park was empty. It's a great coaster, especially in the front row.
I live near Kings Island in Ohio and rode son of beast dozens of times throughout my childhood. It was always rough and even as a teenager it would make my back hurt but we would often go get right back in line because it was such a wild rush. Fun fact: My dad is actually one of the people who helped build the Son of Beast when it went up and wrote my name in sharpie on one of the slabs of wood! Also just to clarify the Verrückt incident did not just 'launch" the boy, the raft was launched, causing the boys head to hit one of the pole rings, decapiting him instantly. The injuries the two women suffered were from the boys head hitting them afterward and the saddest part is that the boys body then slid down the slide where his parents and younger siblings were waiting for him 😢 It was so much more tragic than him being thrown from his seat. Later videos showed the creator of the ride running tests and the raft flew up, just like it did when the boy died, and the creator laughs and says "its good enough for him" amd then they placed the net and opened the ride to the public. 😔
how horrible! id be scarred for life if i was waiting for a family member to get off of the ride with a smile on their face, just to find them not in the ride, and missing their head.
I went on the Dueling Dragons in 2000 when it was less than a year old. The park was slow that day so we went on it over and over for at least an hour without ever having to wait in line. It was great!
I think it’s important to point out(as our gracious host failed to) that the 10 year old boy on The Schlitterbahn one with the nets was decapitated(the net literally ripped his head off). Very gruesome. Imagine being the parents
There are some good articles videos out there about this one. It was so horrible and gruesome what happened to that little boy. The owners of the park were so scummy and negligent. They designed the waterslide despite having zero engineering or architectural experience. They were actually featured on one of those reality shows on travel channel or something similar like “Worlds Most Extreme Waterparks” or something like that. It was obvious when they were building it how dangerous it was and how they had zero clue what they were doing. It pisses me off so bad. I think they were charged with murder but the charges were eventually dropped. Absolute scum of the fucking earth
I'll never forget hearing about the soldier who had lost his legs in a roadside bombing in The Middle East. He got in line to get on The Superman ride at Six Flags Darien Lake. The ride operator should not have allowed him on. He flew out of the car to his death. Damn shame.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 If the ride operator would not have allowed him on, he would have also sued the park and won. Discrimination against war veterans and handicapped people.
@@kylietyler8452 I googled it and it appears that he was determined to ride every roller coaster, but he wasn't wearing his prosthetic legs. The family did sue the park and the settlement was a seven-figure amount. So that's that. But when I think about it, I find myself pondering. A double amputee, PTSD, living off the Army pension, with two little kids and a need for someone to take care of me for the rest of my life - would I deliberately choose THAT roller coaster? I just might.
I survived multiple visits to Action Park including the enclosed loop slide. B4 departing down it, we were instructed to try and remain stiff and keep neck straight and pressed back onto slide bottom.

My fear of roller-coasters and other theme park rides is human error.
Same.
That is a valid fear. But, a majority or amusement park disasters are mechanical, or computer errors.
Come on man,you need a hug from work with the same fear

When I was 8 I went on my first roller coaster. It broke down at the peak and we were stuck in the sky for about 45 minutes. The entire time you would hear creaking and other unsettling noises. Little me was absolutely terrified and thought I was going to plummet to my end. Obviously they finally got us down, but I haven't trusted park rides since. Don't even like ladders. I hate vrükit in German D:
It actually reopened awhile back under a different name. It’s still pretty dangerous; the water is still insanely cold and multiple of the rides that were there when I went a few years back have already been shut down. Some things never change, many things just get makeovers.
Demolishing a dangerous ride two days after it fails spectacularly, nearly injuring or kiIIing a guest, sounds a lot like tampering with evidence.
*Ding ding ding* That is correct!

Exactly what I thought
There actually is a video of one of these Slingshot Rides, where the cable snaps mid-ride and the gondola crashes into the support...
It would have sent them on a 180 turn to the ground at fast speeds :/
Yea that happened to someone and one of them injured the leg but happily they're alive 😅

"twice around a twist I was throw off, onto rocks" - Am I reading this right that you went back on a ride that had already hurled you off once??
Uh didnt need to swear but nice story
If you bash your head on a rock and die, the park isn't responsible since the rocks are not considered part of the ride... yes, that actually happened.

Thank God they had an attendant going to each person making sure that they were properly buckled in.
oh my god that sounds horrifying! good thing your daughter didnt get hurt!
I'm glad your daughter wasn't hurt!
What a great way to start my morning

One girl said, "Wait, WHAT??" Me too--sometime in the late 80s. I loved that ride! The brake was applied by default, so pulling the brake was like using a throttle. It was not a slide. It was a vehicle on a track. The rider could easily choose to go too fast. I mildly skinned my knee on it also, but it was fun.
I *never* rode that looping water slide. That thing was clearly a death trap.
Action Park was super fun because it wasn't just an illusion of danger it actually was dangerous the point of being life-threatening
Dude the voice actor hits hards here like Missed this voice than that emo voice now😭
My mom used to go to Action Park once every five weeks. She said that she was riding Surf hill and flew up and landed on someone else’s lane and crashed. But at least I have six flags in NJ now.
Bro 6 flags just as bad
The cable snapping right next to that kid on the slingshot ride…terrifying. He would have died instantly if it hit him in the head or chest
Suppose the cable snapped while the ride was in motion.

Alton Towers: *smiles suspiciously* yeaaaaah... no incidents here
I have been to Chessington Thorpe Park but not Alton towers 🙂
@@Foxdecai Alton Towers floors those parks, I've been on the Smiler twice, its actually really good.
I love the smiler
Smiler is safe. Coasters are safer than cars, trains, planes, and all other forms of transportation. There is even a higher chance of being killed by lightning strike than being injured on a coaster. In fact, the chance of being in a plane crash is 1 in 11,000,000, being fatally struck by lightning is 1 in 10,000,000 and being eaten by a shark is 1 in 3,750,000. The chance of being injured on any amusement ride is 1 in 24,000,000. Smiler's accident was because of human error.
Wasn't the worst thing about the Dragon Challenge ride that the poor man was already blind in his other eye, so it left him completely blind?
That's some downright rotten luck.
I don't know?
Maybe or maybe not

Crazy. I rode the “son of the beast” when I was a kid and nearly fell off. My dad had to hold me back.
Props to your old man.
i road it one time and thought to myself, never again. I avoid all wooden rollercoasters

Dream world
I watched this video expecting to be the #1 worst accident actually, but it wasn’t mentioned. I was living there at the time it happened, me and one of my friends went on that ride a week before. It was the biggest shock 😞
Sure did happen. I worked as a show announcer at SeaWorld a neighbouring park at the time.
It literally made mince meat of a whole family.
Can we just give a applause to the ride “eagles flight” that just did not have any problems and no injuries and life’s taken
I'll give it applause now that the Swastik's where removed
I mean, it could've triggered some bad memories due to the prior design...That is a problem, even if it didn't cause physical pain.
I honestly don't understand how the thing got built. The engineer who designed it had to have known what it was going to be viewed as, probably a modern Nazi supporter.
I wish it was Falcon's Flight with NAzi symbolism. lol
@@tristanjohnson2678 yeah, cus genocide is admirable..?
12:56 what would screaming do anyway? They're on a rollercoaster.
ikr. but they were prob scared to death so its just a natural reaction
What is it??????????
Action Park was famously parodied in an SNL skit with Dan Aykroyd. Among the rides he described was "Thunder Plunge", where children ride in a shopping cart down a steep hill.
At dream world on the gold coat there was a ride called the thunder river rapids ride and one day on of the water pumps stopped working and so one of the boats got stuck on the conveyer belt while another boat bumped into it and forced it sideways. 4 people were either stuck in the conveyer belt or stuck underneath and drowned. It was a really sad day for all of Australia and may those 4 people Rest In Peace.
I remember this ... so tragic 😢😢.....and they also had a Green lantern ride at another theme park in the Gold Coast & someone was killed on that 😢
I rode on that ride when I was kid about 20 years ago, it's a shame Dreamworld didn't properly maintain it or even upgraded old parts for new parts.
It’s such a tragic shame as I loved that ride but am glad it was demolished in respect to the families of the deceased...
i've heard they were crushed under the belts or something along those lines, truly horrific for anyone who saw that live
got crushed in conveyer belt gears. terrible

Same here.
At least your eye didn't get taken off. Poor old dude.
Not to mention the eagle reference. I'm sure loads of people in the manufacturing & design process had a good giggle.
As long as it's not turned 45 degrees, it's a positive symbol from ancient India. So considering the ride is spinning, it's only a swastika half the time. Is the ride half empty or half full?
rule 1: dont question the boss
I do not understand why they were still illegal, the swastika is many thousands of years old, i know it was used by very evil people, but common this had nothing to do with that.
@@AmigaWolf It's also notable that the much more brutal and murderous communist "winners" of WW2 and that symbol is celebrated in western universities and in hollywood. Hmmm....
Glad I rode Duelling Dragons while I could. Great ride.
When “Son Of Beast” was taken down can we look at how easily it fell?!
GP be like :
right !
This is just to warn you. Every coaster is safe, it’s more likely you’d die in a plane crash then let alone get hurt seriously on a coaster. The reason it feel was they let it mold and rot so it’d be easier to knock down. That’s a big wrecking ball ya know..
It had been partly dismantled at that point we saw.
@@Redandranger the entire thing has been demolished
I got a job at a amusement park for this upcoming summer, we get about 1 hours of training and our practice runs are when the park is open with the guests
Huh good to know
I had the chance to serve as an EMT at a local Six Flags and was appalled at (a) the overall lack of training, (b) the insanity of some of the rides - I mean, really, a ride that is basically a huge bungee cord that flings you up and down, back and forth? Yeah - like we'll do anything for you at the end of THAT arc should it break.... and (c) the overall lack of safety in some of the rides. Needless to say when I had the chance to get out, I did and would never serve at one again. Like the original poster, our "training" was basically following people around who had been there longer and listening to them tell us what to do if something went wrong. No thanks.
For sure, NOT enough training hourS!!!
I think it would’ve been a decent fit for Seaworld or Busch Gardens, Tampa..
12:17 Ah yes my favorite quote
"Remember kids, in Russia, amusement parks ride YOU."
Back in 2002 I was at Universal in November with a friend and we rode the Dueling Dragons like 10 times in a row because the park was empty. It's a great coaster, especially in the front row.
Yeah sucks that some stupid park-goers had to ruin it...
Oh my that was horrible!!😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭
Fun fact: This video has dislikes although nobody has even watched half of it, proves that even haters have notifications on
You really thought about that 😂
200% speed? (I’m not a hater)
nope I just wanted to be the 10th disliker
Thats true
It is a fun fact😅
Absolute scum of the fucking earth
omg, that is just so sad.
My gosh that’s terrible 😔

I'll never forget hearing about the soldier who had lost his legs in a roadside bombing in The Middle East. He got in line to get on The Superman ride at Six Flags Darien Lake. The ride operator should not have allowed him on. He flew out of the car to his death. Damn shame.
