This album is a masterpiece.Some people may say i am talking shit but Navarro’s guitar play is absolutely amazing.He mixed funk with dark feelings and made something excellent that had never listened before.A different genre of music that never continued.
This album is criminally underrated and under appreciated. I think part of the reason why it didn't catch on was Warped was a weird choice to be the lead single. Don't get me wrong, I love Warped, but I've found over the years it's not for everybody. I think a lot more excitement would have generated for the album if a song like Shallow Be Thy Game was the lead single.

It was just the best music period of all time in reality
This is THE best RHCP album! It is their artistic peak after so many years of hard work. They could not have gotten here without 'Blood, Sugar...' but structurally and thematically it is several steps above that album. These songs flow together like multiple dreams that turn out to be a single acid trip. Or vice versa! It is also the album that captures the end of the 90's (yes, great artists see the future 4 years before the 90's really end) and the last moments of culture not strongly affected by the internet, social media, and smartphones. 'Californication' would be the entrance of RHCP into the real mainstream therefore solidifying 'One Hot Minute' as true Art.
Respectfully disagree but I can see where you’re coming from. I find Blood Sugar Sex Magik to be the zenith of their career and I don’t think any of their other albums sound remotely like it spare for Mother’s Milk but it feels rudimentary compared to BSSM. With that being said I actually really enjoy what Navarro brought to the band. I wouldn’t say their sound advanced here but it went in a different direction so nor will I say they regressed. This sound is dark, psychedelic and heavy at times with some really cool lyrics and I adore this album but can see how old Chili fans at the time felt alienated by this new sound and the band must have been feeling newfound pressure from going multi-platinum followed by Frusciante’s departure in ‘92. The art of the album reflects this sound in my eyes. I don’t agree with your last point, art can be subjective whilst, especially something as wide ranging as music under that art category umbrella. I find that enjoying the music for what it is to be an individual experience, just because a large amount of people like something, in the case you mentioned “Californication” doesn’t make it “not art.”
They've been playing Aeroplane in recent years but that's it. They said they're not emotionally connected to this album right now and it doesn't fit Josh's playing style.

Warped intro is just ... Idk ... .. takes everything to a whole new level. There's nothing like that in any other RHCP album.
For any curious, Tearjerker, One Hot Minute, and Falling Into Grace aren't on there. They've never been performed live :/

OHM was played in Budapest. It's a recent discovery. Tearjerker was teased once. A few B-sides have been teased too, like Stretch and Let's Make Evil.
Man Deep Kick is such a good song. Not any less special than all the others that are on the album.
