One I loved was when he was talking about the film Basic Instinct. "Maris and I rented the movie I don't mind telling you we pushed our beds together that night." Five second pause "That was no mean feat, her room as you know is across the hall."
Whoever came up with Maris’ character concept and the endless possibilities as to why she ‘couldn’t make it’ was just brilliant. The show producers saved a ton of money ‘not paying’ anyone to play that character and even if that person had appeared, it never would have been as funny! That is the brilliance of writing but also of delivery by Niles/Frasier/Martin!
Well it was kind of accidental. There was no one person responsible for it, Originally they wanted to show her very early in the first season I think episode seven. However it was so funny what they had already written they decided to just keep at it.
As funny and ingenious as it was, it's definitely not the first time this concept has been used. European tv series 1950s war comedy, dad's army. I think the best one was Lilith making fun of Maris's wedding vows. They are two secondary characters that you'd never expect to meet or interact in any way but at the same time you'd be very curious how such interaction would have gone.
There's also the early weirdness where they imply Lilith is somehow worse than Maris, when by sheer virtue of how likable Bebe Neuwirth is, by the end of the series she's just as beloved as any of the other characters.

Yes! I enjoyed Frasier much more than Cheers. Frasier had great episodes and great scenes. The Valentine's Day show with David Hyde Pierce ending up setting the couch on fire and doing it with NO dialogue through the whole scene was iconic. And having Derek Jacobi doing really BAD Shakespeare was amazing LOL.

It was thirty days going through all eleven seasons and recording the footage. Two hundred and eighteen clips of footage however I had to re record about fifteen clips because I messed them up. It was three hours of raw footage and I shaved about an hour off it. I then had to render it (each render took about six hours) eighteen times each time triggering youtube copyright so I then had to edit it further removing the parts that did trigger it while maintaining the jokes. sp thats one hundred and eight hours of rendering, I probably spent fifteen hours editing it. Frasier's run time is twelve hours and thirty minutes so about fourteen hours given all the re records. You should have extended the scene 6:31 where Daphne comes in a say Goodness Im glad to be out of those dresses; I had to take my undies off just to fit into them Niles spills the sherry while Daphne bends over next to him Hilarity
In the scene where the necklace fell into Daphne’s blouse, Frasier remarks ‘I am sure Maris would not think to look there’ - I don’t remember seeing that in this compilation. That was a great one liner too about Maris!
Actually Pickles did appear in at least one episode of Dick van Dyke episode. Buddy and Pickles are in a restaurant having dinner with Rob and Laura. They have finished eating but rather than dessert, Laura orders a cafe au lait. Pickles orders the same -- "but without the milk."
I didn't realise until someone pointed it out the other day. Stephanie Faracy played both Mimi Cosgrove and the clown phobia nurse, who in my opinion plays the best small part in Frasier.
My favourite episode is Frasier's edge. Which is the one where Frasier talks to his mentor. It was actually very helpful for me from a psychological perspective as well.
For sheer laughs, I'd have to go with Bla-Z-Boy (sp?). I don't even watch the B story, I just think Martin has some of his best lines ever in that episode, especially when he illustrates that he does indeed know the difference between accidental and deliberate. And then the irony of the recreated chair now being the most expensive piece in the entire eclectic apartment. I even like the silly little exachange between Niles and Frasier about the existence of a new shade of Berber carpet.
Thank you for making and sharing such a great and comprehensive compilation of the Maris references and jokes. Even so many years after seeing the episodes, most of them instantly flooded back with the clip.

Terrific blog. Down to earth, formative , bit of humour and very watchable. To me the best of the rural Thai blogs showing you don't need to show self analysis mental Guru theories to successfully attract viewers. Keep it up guys.
🧐
You should have extended the scene 6:31 where Daphne comes in a say Goodness Im glad to be out of those dresses; I had to take my undies off just to fit into them Niles spills the sherry while Daphne bends over next to him Hilarity
But that's a joke about Niles's infatuation with her not Maris.
In the scene where the necklace fell into Daphne’s blouse, Frasier remarks ‘I am sure Maris would not think to look there’ - I don’t remember seeing that in this compilation. That was a great one liner too about Maris!
Love the invisible characters. Pickles on Dick van Dyke, Vera on Cheers, Howard's mother on Big Bang, Steinbrenner on Seinfeld.
And Maris didn’t even get a voice!
I don't doubt you, but I must see this@@michaeldangelo5810
@@erikah1468Because she's truly "invisible"... if the character has a voice actor, it's not invisible.
This is Carlton your doorman on Rhoda
David Hyde Pierce is a good actor.
Thank you.
Good is an understatement....fantastic comes to mind...
Goat placenta treatments.😅😅😅
Oh this is going to be good!
Very glad you think so, this video took the most work of all my frasier videos so far.
Niles has the best lines Watch me roll lol
I want someone to attempt to draw Maris based on Nile's descriptions of her
Same
There are plenty online..just do a quick google search. I think you'll find some ai generated ones too.
Yeah but, they dont exaclty have a tail. Or a slight webbing, or a compressed spine from earings.
It would be a stick figure😂
@@EveryoneElseIsWeirdImNormalor are so pale their organs are visible
I didn't realise until someone pointed it out the other day. Stephanie Faracy played both Mimi Cosgrove and the clown phobia nurse, who in my opinion plays the best small part in Frasier.
One of my greatest faults is yearning to be loved as Niles loves Daphne. (Jane Austen never held that degree of appeal 🤣.)
My all time favorite episodes are Merry Christmas Mrs. Moskiwitz and Roz and the Shnooz. I fell on the floor laughing so hard.
No one else could have played Niles other than David Hyde Pierce, he was so good.
Lol, I just have this image of Maris as Casandra from series one and two of new WHO.
The piece of skin stretched in a frame?
Thank you for making and sharing such a great and comprehensive compilation of the Maris references and jokes. Even so many years after seeing the episodes, most of them instantly flooded back with the clip.
Aunt Patrice was hilarious. They should've bought her back.
Dgoo ygoo spgeek g-gee spgeek?
Everyone talks about how David Hyde-Pierce looks like Kelsey Grammer. I think he looks more like a malnourished Stephen Collins unfortunately. 😆
This is brilliant !!
The ONLY line of dialogue Maris ever had- 1:24:22
All of this about a character who has NEVER SHOWN THEMSELVES!!!
I love that you did this, thank you! Frasier is my fave of all series, I watch some of the reruns almost every day. I do wish you had incl CCs in this as there are parts I can’t catch what they’re saying, it’s frustrating.
I suppose I could. I don't really know how to though so I would have to learn so don't expect it any time soon.
I'm also currently working on remaking it along with all my other compilations and also making new ones. (About twenty) so I might add them at upload to those videos.
I didn't realize there was a whole arc for Yoshi.
No wonder they couldn’t have found an actress to play Maris😂
Unfortunately, we've never found out who is colder - Maris or Lilith. Would have made a nice excuse for a contest. ;-)
