    When my state went into lockdown, I decided to stay home from work and keep my son home with me to reduce our exposure to COVID. It’s been over a month and sometime I was wondering if I made the right choice. Last night my son, who is 5, as we we were eating dinner thanked me for all of the food I had made for the family (even the vegetables!). I cried happy tears, I think homemaking might just be my new job! Thank you so much for all of your content, I have found it useful and inspiring! ♥️

      Awww what a sweet moment ❤️ when they say that stuff it makes the hard stuff not matter so much. I had a similar moment with my foster kids who lived with me during COVID. My daughter said to me "thank you for cooking dinner every night. Nobody's ever cooked for us like this!" 😭 I definitely laid down that night and cried for my children. I cried happy tears because I could do that for them and sad tears because nobody had consistently cooked for them. I know what it's like to grow up "fending for yourself" so to speak. It really made me so thankful that I could be home with my kids(bio or otherwise) and they really flourished with someone's full attention. My bio son obviously is still here and we've decided I will stay home indefinitely at least while we have young kids. I hope I get the opportunity to do that for more kids who need it 🥹

    I find your channel so peaceful. I’m a widow, over 65, & live alone in an apt with my sweet kitty. I would love to find a channel like yours with examples & motivation for a retired woman at my stage of life.
    I rise early for devotions, prayer & to plan my day. I enjoy keeping a clean and organized home, but I don’t have a routine & feel that I should be able to get more done. I attend church, make time to see or talk to friends daily, & go to a weekly table game to keep from being isolated. But I still have a long way to go when it comes to organization…
    Do you know of a channel for someone older and alone?
    Keep up the good work!

    On the toilet cleaning!!!!! I use a pumice stone to remove the hard build up stain. You can find them at any hardware ore Home Depot stores. And to prevent the stains I use Rust Guard tablets by Whink. You place them in them in the corner of the tank. They last for about 30 days! Hope that helps!🥰

    Tip for the toilet stains! Barkeepers friend is a life saver with this. Turn it into a paste with water and let it sit on the stain. Vinegar is an excellent cleaner. Just buy the cheapest vinegar by the gallon.
    Spray the build up stains, let it sit, scrub and repeat if necessary.
    To clean build up stains in the toilet, pour a large quantity of vinegar into the toilet, add a pan of boiling water, let it sit, brush with the toilet brush and flush.

    I have probably a similar sink to yours. The best natural non-toxic I could find is power paste with scrub Daddy. You just damp your scrub Daddy dip it in the power pace and then scrub your sink down kindly. Let it sit for 30 minutes. Then give it the scrubbing that it needs and that should do it

    try a pumice stone (seriously) for the toilet stains. First, turn the water off to the toilet and flush so bowl is mostly empty. soak some paper towels in white vinegar or Coca-cola and place the paper towels over the hard water stains. leave for about an hour. wipe the bowl down with the paper towels and discard. use a pumice stone on any remaining lime scale.

      @Ruth Steiner they are a bit different. It's a finer stone. Using it wet is also important or you will get those scratches.
      Using a pumice stone also is not something you would do super regularily. It's for hard water buildup or when you get urine crystal buildup for not flushing regularily. When cleaning its always best to start with the least harsh producs and work your way up. This technique is a few steps up but also not a harsh chemical. A good solution for when needed

    I know this is an older video, but I also have a white composite sink that drives me crazy from getting stained. I have tried to use a few things to get it back.
    The best that I found and made it like brand new white, without a lot of effort, was leaving Soft Scrub lemon with bleach in a light layer to sit for 10 min...used a scrub brush and the sink was gorgeous white.
    Next is The Pink Stuff..all natural, has lye, use gloves. You have to scrub and it doesn't get it white white, but pretty close.
    Last favorite was barkeeper's friend, you have to scrub again, it is adequate.
    But Soft Scrub was the best less effort

    • @emmiedowning2174
      @emmiedowning2174 2 года назад +2

      I have an individual box for each bedroom. When the laundry is dry, I fold it straight off the line and put it into the appropriate box for each person. The boxes then either go straight into their bedrooms or when I'm putting the kids to bed I take their box with me. I leave my youngest child to potter around whilst I put her clothes away and when my older child is getting herself ready for bed I put her clothes away. I used to dislike putting clothes away but when I realised it literally only takes 1-2 minutes it seemed silly to leave it. The hardest part is the motivation to sort the laundry I think which is why I fold it as soon as it comes off the line. I guess you could do the same if you use a drier, just fold each item immediately so you cut out that middle bit which breaks the flow/cycle.

    For toilet - wear good rubber gloves when you do this. Get a pumice stone and gently scrub away the stains. It works well for getting rid of stubborn rust stains. Please be careful and rub gently, you don't want to chip porcelain believe me. Also store the pumice stone in a little bucket labeled toilet, so no feet accidentally get scrubbed with it.

    Thank you for the great content. I use a pumice stone to clean the stubborn water stains in our shower, sink, and toilet. You can get them with a handle on amazon and they work great, without damaging the porcelain. :-)

    Bon ami is great for scouring. I also love Branch Basics. It comes in a concentrate that you can water down to different strengths based on cleaning needs. It works very well but is also gentle enough to wash your babies with. They have a powdered oxygen booster that is great for scouring and also for getting stains out of clothes. It has saved lots of toddler clothes from fruit juice stains

    Why not use a robot to clean the floor? It would save so much time. I recommend the shark brand. We have three robots for sweeping and so far I like the shark best. Make sure you buy the kind that dumps the trash by itself.

    I loved this video. Super motivating! I have a farm sink just like yours and I LOVE branch basics oxygen boost for cleaning it. It totally cleans as well as bleach does and is completely non toxic. I actually have a discount code for 10% off a starter kit - “raisingnobles” lol! I totally didn’t come here to advertise my code 🤣 I just found you and I had to mention it 💛💛

    Try soaking the toilet in coke for a couple of hours/over night. Works for us, as coke is super aggressive (which is probably why you shouldn’t be drinking coke)

    My problem is that I want to do one load a day, but I have jeans I have darks, I have lights, etc. so how do you do one load a day?

    • @BecauseitMatters
      @BecauseitMatters  Год назад

      Great question. Some days I don’t have enough for a load, so I will begin to separate what I have into darks, lights, and whites. As I get each pile big enough to run, I will run it according to those colors. Usually this results in me doing an extra load on Saturday for my whites, but it really works quite well and I usually never have more then a load or two to run. :)

    • @BecauseitMatters
      @BecauseitMatters  2 года назад

      Haha! I ask myself these questions quite often! 😂😂 I am constantly washing blankets and such due to spit up from my baby, and towels and rugs probably more often then totally necessary simply because I really like when they look fresh:)
      As for the dishes, I cook everything, every meal from scratch so it just makes a lot. 😫
