My mother always told me "I'm not your friend but when you get grown and move out of my house, we can be friends." I'm now 40 with a 9/5yr old I completely understand this concept. I remember when I was moving out on my own. I was waiting for my mom to give her usual speech. She was usually quite. I asked her if she wanted to come sit down for her talk. My mom said the most profound thing I ever heard in my life. She said "I prepared you for this moment since the day I first held in my arms, every whooping, restriction, no non-sense prepared you today. There's isn't anything I can do or say now that I haven't already done or said."
Please continue to share your views on Parenting! We truly need this! So many of us are struggling on what to do with our Children, because these kids these days are very different from us, we we're raised not to be disrespectful due to those ass whoopings we got! These days we have failed to do the same with our kids & we're going through hell because of it!

There was a time in my life when I was a single parent and I made this very grave mistake allowing our relationship to evolve to more of a friendship...I am thankful today that that os no longer the case THANK YOU JESUS!!!! Thank you Rickey for talking on this subject, it's needed so much in our communities. I don't have a relationship anymore with my daughter and grandchildren but that's okay, because I know what I did for them and how hard I tried to show them how much they're loved. But the parents are messed up and I stop giving money and they really showed me what they thought about me. So, I'm doing fine, don't need any drama, I wished them all the best but stay away from me. That's how I am with most of my family, it hurt me a lot once I realized that they only loved me for what they could get out of me. I won the lotto and gave everyone money. When it was gone they were gone, but I'm making a come back and I don't have to worry about giving anyone a dime because they can get it on they're on just like me. I see my friends being used by their grown children and grandchildren and they only want them for their money. I don't say anything anymore because they look at me and say you don't any talk to your family like I'm in the wrong. I just sit back and watch and listen and say to them one day you'll learn but don't come to me because I don't want to hear about it.

He needs to be the spokesman of rerearing kids these days because they are out of control. Majority of these new parents do not know how to raise kids these days and time. Sad but sooooooooooooo TRUE. More conferences like this should be all over the US. But the government would not like this because they want your kids (agenda 21, look that up, prison system, etc. )and people don't see it.

#FACTS As a single mother of one son, I told him he's not the man of my house and I'm not your friend. As you get older our relationship will change and you will become the man of your house when you're in your own home.
Now he's 21 short of 22 and 4th year in college. He now tells me how he respect me for how I raised him and respect our relationship.
Parents has a manual to raising children contrary to what I my mother told me. God led me straight to Proverbs 24:6. We can't blame the children for being out of order when the parent(s) themselves were not in order.

I’m 46yrs old with NO children, And honestly I don’t know how in this age and time you all can handle these sign -of-the-times, Besides “ Oh you just do what you have to do”. Man!
When my daughter was 8 or 9 years old and she was reprimanded at school about something minor but, when the teacher ask her why was she misbehaving in class? My daughter said she didn't have any friends. The teacher told her that she was her friend and went on to say she was sure her parents were her friends too. My daughter looked at her and said " No Ma'am, Momma is not my friend because, she told me she is not my friend and the only friend we need is a friend in Jesus. When the teacher called me she said she couldn't help but, laugh and said I was right about that. My daughter is 25 years old and now realize am still right about that.

I don't have any kids, but a totally agree with Rickey. My siblings aren't shit now in their adulthood because my mother (may she rest in peace. And happy birthday to her.) tried to be their friends. All of my siblings became crackheads. And I don't have anything to do with the two now living siblings or their children because I don't want anybody coming after me because of them.
It’s cool to laugh and joke with your kids, and allow them to talk to you about their concerns. However, under no circumstances are they to think you All are friends. You all can be adult friends, but not when they’re young and figuring things out.

I agree. My children aren't my friends but they trust me and talk w me about a whole lot. In fact, it's habit for them to come home from school and openly tell me how their day was.

I could never go to my mom and tell her I slipped up and smoked weed with my friends at a party ONE time. I always envied people who had parents that they could have conversations with. I ♥️ on my children everyday. We check up on each other, show emotion and affection. It's important to me that I handle my children's heart w care because I know without a doubt that they are GIFTS from God.
