Awesome video coach great job explaining the double pump common mistakes in young athletes. I agree I tell my thrower to keep the left arm long , relaxed keep it back and get nice load up in the hips .
Hmm, hey coach, I'm in my senior year right now and practically started just throwing shotput in Winter. I've been taught pretty much only to do the glide but I'm seeing the big throwers often spinning. Is it worth me learning how to spin even though this is my last (upcoming Spring) season in High School?
AmPenguin andTurtleHybrid typically throwers will see longer distances quicker with the glide compared to the rotation when they are first starting out. If you were a freshman or a sophomore, I would tell you to start with the rotation but since you only have a few months left of high school I would say to stick with the glide and not change technique. You will throw a lot farther this year with the glide because you have been working on it already.
I have NEVER taught this. EVER! It's just as bad as bringing the left foot in fast at the start of the glide. It splits the momentum IN HALF! EVERYTHING should be going forward TOWARD THE THROW! Stay closed with the left and control the left leg out of the back of the ring to explode to the front of the ring...
M F exactly. Keep the left arm back and closed. I don’t think anyone actually teaches throwers to do this. I think it’s just something naturally that new throwers do that they need to be taught not to do.
@@EliteThrowsCoaching if I have kids that have a problem exploding through the ring, I start them a little further into the center of the ring. Find the center divot with the right toe, take two heel to toe steps toward the back of the ring and use that as a starting point... As they get stronger, we add half a foot's length. Works EVERY TIME!

Excellent. Keep it up
what's the degree of the angle on the two lines going from the center to the end of the pit?
34.92 degrees. They are the sector lines. If you Google how to mark them out you will find diagrams.
