After watching this, I ordered one and I love it. Using it for a Linux Box, an inexpensive way to do some Distro Hopping without consequence for my standard systems. You're mistaken on not being able to expand storage, you overlooked the M.2 2242 drive right next to the primary NVME. I ordered one, installed it as secondary storage and everything is great. Thanks for the excellent presentation, earned you a subscribe.
Buddy, what kind of M.2 2242 SATA SSD did you purchase? Tell me the brand. I have been looking for such one 512Gb, B-keyed as I look at inside the slot, but I can't even find a no-name/famous brand who sells such one!!!! Please help (GMKTec does not answer to my question...)
I have two. The first one, I use as a Linux distro test box. The second one, I use for a few things: - As a Parsec node, so I can remote into my home network while traveling in order to access and administer my Unraid/Plex server and its Pi-KVM. - A hub to access and use any Windows-only system administration tools (since I daily drive Ubuntu). - A retro emulation station
159usd for 5+256gb for eu version with paid duties and shipping is a pretty good deal for a simple modern and energy efficient mini pc. Upgradeable ran, ssd and wifi is awesome. I wonder if it can play actual 4k netflix on a 4k tv. Either way great home pc for simple tasks to hide behind the monitor/tv
Agreed. There seem to have been some crazy good early deals. I think these Windows MiniPCs are now a trend, just like Android TV boxes used to be a few years ago
@@TechMishka I was there when the first mini pic craze was upon us and it did not end well. That was around 2008 and even in the normal sized computers, the Celerons were a disaster, when talking about the mini pcs, the Atom processor, was just a joke. Many of the mini pcs were just landfill. I hope this generation is better, even the context is different as the Raspberry Pi is way more expensive and not that capable and this could be a replacement for some projects. Using this as a full time general purpose computer I think is stretching it. With taxes and all, the barebone is $130 for EU, the 16 / 512 is $210 and I just don't see the value in it. The windows license for N100 is basically free from MS, there is no actual cost for the OEM. All Atom styled processors have this feature as MS wants to encourage the usage of Windows on cheap computers. Just check the one with a good processor, the license will have the usual cost.
Are the links provided in the comments still current and do you receive any funding from them? I'm going to buy one and just want to make sure there's any correct/current link to use as your review sold me on buying one.
Can anyone tell me why Windows 11 shows the processor speed as 800 Mhz.? And how does this box reach 3.4 Ghz? Is this an addition off 4 cores working at 800Mhz each? How is the 3.4GHz processor spec reached? (btw, I have one and it offers snappy visual performance though Windows Update seems to run much slower than an older Intel core 5 machine running Windows 10, using the wired Ethernet port through same ISP)
Does anyone have Bluetooth gamepad Problems in batocera 38, when WiFi is turned on? After connecting my gmktec with WiFi, my Bluetooth gamepad has latency Problems. (Tried for 3 different gamepads, and for all the Same Problem) I have Input delays and Sometimes the Buttons dont Work at all. My gmktec is connected in the 2,4 and 5 GHz frequency wifi. I switched to 5 ghz-only, but unfortunatelly nothing changed at all. Any ideas? Thanks!

I also have Apple TV 4K 128gb and i like it for streaming services, and i bought this G3 to make a Homelab NAS, which Apple doesn't do. Plus i heard, not tested, that i can get TrueHD 7.1 with KODI through my receiver on this G3 and i can't with Apple aswell.

Thanks mate, awesome addition. You have a very interesting use case indeed. Thanks for the sub ♥️

I got the 16-500gb version for £160 on deal normally £220 love it much better than raspberry pi for emulation
Lovely

4:10 No word on the built-in additional M.2-SATA (2242?) slot?
Good catch! Always a nice to have feature
You so deserve more views. Your reviews are great, and have such upbeat vibe. More power to ya!!
Thank you so much! Best we can do is to spread the word about the channel ❤️❤️❤️
I heard the fan ramps up really easy. I saw you showing in bios, the automatic fan, you know a better setting for the fans to be less annoying?
Not really. These are kind of small and therefore have higher RPM and May sometimes be annoying.
Will this be suitable as a Plex server? I am thinking of hardware transcoding. I am not really familiar with this processor...
Yeah, totally
Works great as my KODI server
It's not gonna be great at transcoding, but for the price it might be worth it to you
What's better for gaming (games like Minecraft) this or the g5
Both will be just fine
I bought one of these with 8 gb of ram. Can I upgraded the RAM to 12 GB?
If it is not LPDDR - then it is possible

Most of the links are still operational. Tha ksma lot for being ready to support me!
@@TechMishka Excellent I used your link, am currently waiting for it to be delivered. Thanks again for the video.
Will this allow 4k Netflix or Prime Video over HDMI? Eg. is it HDCP 2.2 compatible?
It is, as far as I know.
yes
@@TechMishka Thanks! It works. Unfortunately Prime Video won't output 4K on PC because Amazon purposely disabled it, but 4K Netflix works fine.
Showing the ramping fan speed is good
Noted ♥️
the lack of USB-C power delivery, the single channel ddr4 memory lock, and the realtek wifi/bt card make this a much less interesting machine
Yeah...
7:25: it's not close to the performance of a gigabit adapter. That would have been 120 MB/s and not 47MB/s. 47MB/s is just typical of Wifi5.
Fair enough.

Try to reset your bios settings.
run a cpu benchmark and gpu benchmark at the same time to see if the value goes up.
Replaced my tower with i5 10400F CPU, same ports!
👍👍👍
did u mention anything about reparability?
Yeah!
Does anyone have problem with the Realtek RTL8852BE installed? Sometime the network card network drops if wi-fi is with 2,4ghz mode...
I have mostly used it in 5G mode. Did you try with older driver?
What about External graphics via NVME?
Should be well supported.

Huh, I have a Xiaomi one and it is fine, but controllers may be different
@@TechMishka What' keyboard, mouse and controller would you recommend
Can it play Warframe or genshin?
Haven't tried these games. I doubt that it will be with good and smooth gameplay for these.
Didn't mention 2242 SATA SSD???
