My dogs always had there own beds, either in my bedroom or near the fire in winter. Mostly they wanted to come to bed in my bedroom so I made an envelope out of sleeping bags which their beds slid into. They were toasty and happy and could still move freely in the house if they wanted to.
The unfortunate thing with cages is that it's a convenience for the owners not the pets. I never had a problem with my dogs roaming our home when I was asleep.

The cat and dogs even knew the tones for their own station’s siren! And the dogs go outside to watch everyone arrive while the cat goes for their safe space. That’s some kind of cool. I miss the old days of paging out with tones and the siren.
The people who sit their kids in front of a dog growling amd nipping should NEVER be allowed to either have a dog or be parents. Just because you dont think your sog will bite does t mean they wont. Absolute ignorance!!!!!

My maltese was having none of it. Cages were NEVER going to happen. She sleeps on a pillow behind my head in bed, or on my lap. 😂😂😂
