Thanks to the person making this HD patch for the game and thanks to the person playing for showing it in action for al of us. However, I really WISH someone ever takes the effort of making a patch correcting the MUSIC of the game. The ONLY version of Alone in the Dark The New Nightmare with the music sounding as it should is the PlayStation version. The PS2, PC, and Dreamcast versions alike suffer from DISTORSIONED music, which unfortunately takes quality from the gameplay experience.
I wouldn't want to speak of the Dreamcast or PC versions as I haven't played it, yet - only seen them played on RUclips. I've played on PS1 and PS2 though, and I actually prefer the PS1 version, mainly because of the superior sound and music. From what I've seen (or should I say - heard) of the Dreamcast and PC versions, the PC version sounds a bit rubbish, just like the PS2 version. The Dreamcast seems to sound OK to me, similar to the PS1 version. My understanding is the PS1 and Dreamcast versions were worked on first, and then the other versions were just ported later on. I'm more than happy to be corrected, though.
The PC version was made by another studio. The reason for this huge difference is purely (and stupidly) technical. The whole music of the videogame was in MIDI format and used a custom sample bank with ADSR information. The studio simply didn't implement the ADSR curves so triggering raw samples.
@@maxwellr5251 The DC has correct music but lacks most of the sound effects only available on the PS1 version. Specially in the outdoors where you could hear the island and the storm altogether. In the DC version you only hear the storm and some minimal sound effects. The other ports (PC, PS2) are even worse.
The graphic improvement and quality in this HD pack is just spectacular. Unfortunately, the color saturation is way too high. The game looks way way too colorful for its original horror atmosphere. Other than that it looks superb pretty much all remaining aspects.
Even back on the PS1 the game was quite colourful. I always really liked it for that. So many horror games use mostly just grey and brown - especially nowadays. It was and is nice to see a bit of colour. I don't think the colour ruins the horror atmosphere. If anything, I think it works really well in this game.
@@AshPlays85 Oh, I didn't know that there was a PS2 version. I played this game on the ePSXe emulator some years ago, in 2016 if I remember correctly but the excess of puzzles made me drop it.
AITD The New Nightmare and SH origins,SH1,SH2,SH3,SH4 the room and SH shattered Memories are the most scariest game I ever played my entire life as a player when I was in collage.
Once i tried to play this game on my pc but the screen went black during the scene in the plane lol . And nothing i did helped to fix it. I think it was the incompatibility of the OS.
The best alone in the dark imo but the only thing unsettling me is the insufferable dialogues between the main characters mostly by aline she's so mean dang it.

Alone in the dark the nightmare 2001 has trophies for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the game was updated yesterday with trophies.
Yeah, but they seems to be bugged atleast for me, the first trophy worked and the rest are simply not picked up for some reason. Played on PS5.
