Pat Smear is a relatively unsung hero. His work in The Germs was visceral and thrilling. He also made the In Utero tour what it was adding that extra layer of sound, incredible stage presence and energy. And then in videos like this, you see just how much personality he really does bring to everyone he plays with, without ever stealing the spotlight.

As unfortunate as Kurt Cobain's demise was, I'm so glad David Grohl didn't give up on music. I can only imagine what Nirvana could have evolved into had Kurt overcome his depression mixed with his band mates growing musical contributions to their sound.
This song (and the Foo Fighters' career) further epitomizes that through the ashes of despair and mourning can come a sense of rebirth and positive growth.

Kevin Breaux Well it's widely "accepted" that Nirvana was going to break up because Kurt Cobain had written so (in journals/diaries?). So Nirvana likely wouldn't have continued, though Kurt Cobain would have done some solo work.
chadwr85 Its very possible, but Kurt Cobain wasn't in a good state mentally nor physically in the last year of his life. So, I take the things that come out of his mouth with a grain of salt.
Personally, I think he reached his personal ceiling of what he could take from his personal stress from fame, his drug addiction, down to his deep seeded emotional issues.
Kurt Cobain was a ticking time bomb, maybe if he gotten intervention sooner things would have went well for him.
I wouldn't of cared if Nirvana remained a band or not, because we lost a great talent and his band members lost a great friend when he died.

Fun fact on this album foo fighters was a solo project. Dave created it as a distraction after falling into depression after Kurt's death. He did all the instruments himself. But formed the band when it came to playing live and it's been so ever since.

Does fresh fighter mean a fighter who is fresh or does it mean a fighter of fresh? Remember the vid where Krist is on the toilet, Dave in the tub wearing a bathing suit, and Kurt asks if Dave has been wearing the same socks since they got there? Since he was wearing a bathing suit, did everything really get clean? Did Krist pollute the air so as soon as he got out of the tub he was surrounded by contaminated air? Thus negating the bath entirely? Did he put the socks back on after the bath and did he wash them? I mean even if they had no access to laundry the tub was right there and he could air dry the socks. But did he? Does he pop Footos in lieu of brushing his teeth? These are all questions to ponder while watching this video.

If by "RIP" you are referring to Taylor Hawkins, I believe that he was somewhere on the other side of the world touring with Alanis Morissette when this song came out. Taylor wasn't even on the Foo Fighters radar when this song was released. Dave Grohl recorded the drums and William Goldsmith is behind the kit for the video. ....Just saying, bro.

The video's success led to many fans throwing Mentos at the band whenever they played the song live.For an extended period of time, the band did not play the song live due to this, as Grohl cited: "We did stop playing that song for a while because, honestly, it's like being stoned. Those little … things are like pebbles - they hurt." The band only started to change its mind after Weezer started performing "Big Me" during the Foozer tour both bands did together.

The 90s rocked in term of music. We had alternative with a wide range of expression, from big highs to depressional lows. I was glad to be a teenager in those years. Loved Foo Fighters and Spin Doctors, Smashing Pumpkins , Stone Temple Pilots and that. We used to listen to this stuff going up to my friends dad's place where we'd watch some MST3K, play some NHLPA93 and some custom made role playing games. Wow my life's been good. Also now I know Jesus is real, and we live forever. God's given me some great highs in life, and I look forward to meeting him the Bro of bros. I wonder what music will be like in Heaven, I bet it will keep getting better even over zillions of years.
