First happy birthday! Thank you so much for sharing. I had my first hot flash around the age of 45. I had my first anxiety attack around 51. I am 61 now. I am a man so all of this caught me completely off guard. No one talks about men having hot flashes. No one really talks about anxiety attacks. It really helps to know what is happening as we get older so I have made a point of sharing on my Facebook what I am feeling and what is happening in my life including that men have hot flashes and mood swings the same as women. Horny goat weed and moringa both help keep the testerone level and keeping the testosterone level helps with the hot flashes and the anxiety attacks.
Keeping chickens has been a major life saver for me as well. I currently have around 80 chickens and most were hatched on my farm. A number of them are like parrots in that they will perch on my arm and I can pet them just like a parrot.
So, keep talking about chickens and about life as we age and the natural things that go with aging. I enjoy your videos so much because you love your birds as much as I love mine and you are real about it. Again, thank you for sharing.

First…HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope it was a fabulous day of celebration!
Second…girl, you are not alone. I started my journey in 2020 of all times, my dad had just passed and the whole world was upside down. I also got my first 6 chickens at this time but other than them being a feathered form of Prozac, that has nothing to do with my story. I started having panic attacks, randomly. One was so severe that my chest had so much pressure I thought I was having a heart attack. I also started having suicidal thoughts, I have a FABULOUS life with four amazing sons and a rock star of a husband for 32 years, WHY THE HELL WOULD I HAVE SUCH THOUGHTS? It boiled down to a very uncertain world and a hormonal change that completely altered my thought process. Though I’m not one for medication, I didn’t hesitate to contact my doctor and I went on the most mild antidepressant that is out there and the sunshine came back into my life soon after.
I’m glad you shared your story, it will help others and though it’s not likely as busy as you are to read this, maybe one of your subscribers will. My hope and prayer is that if by sharing how off the rails I became, like so many others are sharing, that she will understand she’s not crazy but will seek help in whatever form that looks like. Medication. Therapy. Religion. More chickens?! What ever works. 😊
Thanks for sharing, we are a tribe and the stigma needs to be abolished so the younger ladies coming behind us don’t have to suffer in silence like all the amazing women before us! LETS END THIS IN THIS STIGMA OUR GENERATION!

I was always told that hot flashes was the only thing that women are afflicted with in menopause; until I went through it. What an eye opener it was. Depression, anxiety, hair loss, vertigo, joint pain, weight gain, sallow complexion and I could go on and on. The women’s mind body and soul go through hell and back and you’re right, nobody talks about it.

For some reason this happens as we get older.

So appreciate your loving sweet personality. I would like to share what I did during perimenopause/menopause. Because of cancer in my family I am not allowed to take hormones so I went to my local Pharmacy & they compounded a hormone replacement. It saved my life. Thank you very much for giving me an “aha” moment this morning. I turned 50 and started having these very short lived but extremely severe panic attacks. I genuinely feel like I am going to pass out and the panic that goes with them is unbearable. I never connected them to menopause. I had a hysterectomy several years ago (kept my ovaries) and so I have no overtly “physical” indication of menopause. Time to make a Dr. appt and get the hormones checked…

Perimenopause and my panic attacks sent me to the ER at least a half dozen times. The symptoms are incredible. I'm 62 and finally over most of it--but had a panic attack just two months ago that was almost as bad. Our medical industry doesn't acknowledge any of this. This is much more common than anyone admits. It does get better--at least it did for me. And at the age of 62 I finally have started my own flock and it all began with a rooster that someone dumped in our neighborhood. He has changed my life and is such a good boi. Thanks for all of your sharing.

I just turned 47 and have been dealing with anxiety for a while now. I appreciate your video because I figured it might be associated with hormone changes but was still wondering if I was going crazy. Often I can’t even pinpoint a reason for the anxiety. Recently I noticed when I’m feeling that way more severely than usual it is almost always 8ish days away from my monthly. I’m not crazy, my body is! Glad to know it’s not unusual.

You should definitely get your hormone levels checked and blood sugar. I notice that my panic disorder gets worse if I eat too much sugar (or other sugars like carbs and starches) or things like caffeine. I end up getting too much of a "buzz" which makes my body think WE NEED ADRENALINE! Lol. Wrong. We needed to NOT eat that second donut. 😂 bodies are dumb.

    • @nedm8596

Thanks. I do need to have my hormones checked. I know sugar is a problem. My cardiologist thinks I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia which along with overreacting to sugar and caffeine raises your heart rate. It is often diagnosed as an anxiety disorder. It has been suggested in some studies that it could be a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system and causes dumps of adrenaline. Overeating can do the same thing with the condition. I didn’t know I had it until they took me off my beta blocker and my heart rate skyrocketed along with my anxiety. Your post sounds similar.

I've gone through menopause and just took over a neighbor's 8 hens at age 72. Sometimes I wonder what got into me! I bought your "Let's All Keep Chickens" and have really enjoyed it.

I have panic attacked that has alot to do with my monthly since 1994. I have NEVER heard anyone say this out loud! Since I went threw menopause, they are much less frequent. Thank you! for more than 20 years, people have told me that it was in my head.

Happy Birthday!! I too found out I suffer from anxiety, but before going on medication, I didn't know what was going on. I knew I didn't want to go out of the house or into town, let alone going to work, I really had some panic going. It was around the time I was getting into my late 40's, early 50's. Now that you said something about menopause, it makes sense. Thank you so much for your time and effort and being honest! Love seeing all your different birds!!

So sorry you are going through this. I am hoping that when you are through menopause that maybe the cyclical panic attacks will subside. My migraines immediately stopped with menopause.

I hope this message reaches you…bless you for using your wonderful platform to talk about this subject! I remember my first panic attack…I thought if I closed my eyes I wouldn’t wake up. I was certain I would stop breathing or have a heart attack and die. Not only that, but mine became an out of body experience, I could hear myself telling my husband something wasn’t right, but it was like I wasn’t saying it. I have never been so afraid!!
I don’t know if you’re a believer in God, but this is truly an attack of the enemy!

I’m 53 and still struggling with peri menopause. My migraines are off the charts and the weight gain uncontrollable. There are loads of other things two but those two and the near chronic nausea is what’s really doing me in. My family, my cat, my garden, flower farm, and my chickens are what soothe me and bring me joy. Will be so happy when I’m finally through this! Hugs!

I see a good doctor for it and she has helped me deal with it and because she is 65 herself and completely understands what I am dealing with❤ she is amazing and I do use my cosmic chicken coop to help me deal with so so much… I don’t know what I would do without my little birds… I really don’t. Be well Dahlia! It does get better. God bless you always and thanks for sharing this with ♥️us♥️

I kind of had the opposite experience. I had a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy at 49, and feel truly blessed because I have experienced very few symptoms of Henopause. I've often wondered if this is because they took my ovaries along with my uterus.

It absolutely makes sense. Palpitations, loss of memory, fuzzines throughout the day. A huge energy shift... a disconnect from the brain to your lady bits while in a relationship, that will send you straight into a therapy session with a regain therapist. I hope you can make it through, do what is best for you! Don't let people shame you into deciding what works better for you. Hormone therapy has come a LONG way. Research your comfort level with anything new out there.

Happy Birthday. I’ve listened to Dr. Mindy Pelz and she has some interesting insight on our cycles and our diet during different times of our cycles. I had hot flashes for almost 5 years and I stopped drinking caffeine, stopped drinking soda, or anything with high fructose corn syrup and I haven’t had a hot flash since. Since stopping the caffeine I feel my emotional state is far more…….controlled is maybe the best description. Menopause is hard to pin down because it’s so different for every woman. Chickens are great therapy though!

Happy birthday Dalia 🎉 I to have been going through hen o paws. I had a total hystorectomy in 1997 because of endometriosis. And now that I'm 58 it's gotten a little better. I've been taking over the counter Estroven Complete from Walmart 2 pills a day. I've got Buff Orpington's 18 of my ladies so sweet ❤ I love my girls I'm known as the crazy chicken lady and that's OK I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for all of your videos I watch them all the time. It was one of your videos about sour crop didn't known anything about it nor heard of it till after watching I saw that my buff Jewels something looked off and she had dull on her breast then I smelled her and it was sour and followed your instruction and Jewels was much better. Thank for your teaching and I too have panic attacks it does get better again thank you Tina from Tyler WA
