My xbox x is no longer in warranty, it no longer reads xbox one discs, it only reads x/s and blu ray. I can play the xbox one discs on the xbox one disc still. I contacted Microsoft, they said no matter the problem, since the warranty is out I would pay them $299 and if they can’t fix it they will send me a refurbished one. No matter what the problem is. That seems dishonest so I am using the xbox x to play digital downloads and the games that still work. I play the others on xbox one. Annoying but I am not going to pay them 300 dollars for a simple faulty disc problem that is their fault for a bad product.
Sony and Microsoft are updating system software with a virus malware bug stopping some physical games from working intentionally forcing users to buy digital
I hate the fact that when ever I uninstall a game then sometime later i go back to reinstall the same game and the system wont install like wtf

My Xbox won't read new discs it just makes a few grunting noises and then stops, old discs made for the Xbox one works fine but newer ones just won't work
You changed direction right where i felt like you were gonna answer the question to the whooole reason i clicked this video.. you said if you're convinced the disc isn't bad then try it on another console.
Ok.. i did. it works on my one s. my series x wont read literally 50% of my game discs (not specific to xbox, xbox one, etc) its completely random what discs seem to work and what ones don't.
So what do i do now? i know the BRAND NEW disc that works in my one s but not in my series x isnt faulty. yet i have plenty of discs that still DO read on my series x.
Also most dvds dont read, bluray is okay, xbox games of any variety are 50/50
I'm out of waranty now and im not exaggerating when i say it's the same or more expensive to send my console to Microsoft for repair than it is to buy a whole new series x..

Thanks man it worked. The settings are a bit different now but it’s in the power settings either way. Mine worked on the first try. I was scared man. I was having Vietnam flashbacks of the red ring. Thought I was going to have to send my machine out and do all kinds of crazy shyt. Thanks again!

umm, you left out one of the options. I have a disc that plays on other consoles but not mine, but my console plays other discs.

@@8LMW8 Yeah. I was pissed and I almost bought the digital version so that I could play it. But then, I played Red Dead for awhile, went back to the disk in question, it worked. I don't know why... But it works.
I have my PS5 too though. And a high end PC. So I can play just about any game. I was more so leaving that comment for the fact that he missed one of the major issues that can happen.

Lifesaver ! 2 years later but my disc drive stopped recognizing my discs. I got paranoid , ran through the mentioned steps, and it ended up being the power mode ,lol

thanks for this, it was working until yesterday it wasnt playing/installing any disc games until i did a hard reset (you can just hold the xbox button on the controller and hit restart console) and after that it started working.. chalked it up to a weird glitch

There is no power mode for me it just says sleep mode and standby
In settings turn on energy savings mode
Settings > general > power options > then it should have two big options. "Shutdown" and "sleep" you want shutdown(energy saving mode)
Are these options related to the settings I need to change?

Im trying to play max payne, it worked fine in the a month ago and now when i insert the disk it doesnt even try to read it. I cant hear it spinning or anything and it only seems to be original xbox or 360 disks this happens with, every other disk i can hear it spinning and it just starts up

So my Xbox only recognizes XBO - XBS/X disks and DVDs I’ve previously watched recently... When I insert my 360 games, CDs and some dvds, I can hear the disk spin and it trying to engage to start reading but then just gives up almost and does nothing… I rarely use any disks and this just happened randomly. Any tips?

I bought brand new and it never worked for disc would start downloading the game but constantly stop saying error or just “installation stopped” going to have to send mines back in
You would need to search that up I had that same issue just search it up

My series x doesn’t recognize dvd or blu ray movies. It used to. It reads game discs. I’ve tried different solutions but nothing changes it. Disappointing for a 4 K player.
It really isn’t meant to be a 4K player it’s only 4K for games and dvds and a Xbox isn’t worth buying for dvd
@@SirMacPlayz I ended up getting it repaired (or replaced) as it was still under warranty. Works again, for now.

@@SirMacPlayz I was lucky as it was still within the year warranty. It would have been up in May otherwise it’s some ridiculous cost to get fixed.
@@maxben565 mines is working now had to try with a Xbox One game instead of 360 then a another 360 game works fine now
I just hit the restart console button and it worked. I’m thinking maybe the console turned on improperly and forgot to activate the disc reader as it turns on. 🤷♂️

it keeps doing it for me for fortnite and fortnite doesn't need a disc ?? i've tried everything i don't have any actual discs besides the deep freeze bundle disc but even if i insert it it doesn't work

This shit isn’t ok this is my second series x and it’s having this same issue.
No fix would work I just kept taking it out, putting other discs in and then trying again over and over until it worked.

I have an issue on my xbox series x. When I insert the DVD movie it says that the disc is for "region 1" and im in region 2???? Idk what that means. I'm in the US
My 360 discs are not reading, code 0x82d40004. Hard restart has been done, the discs are clean, I have cleared the 360 storage, downloaded blu ray player again, deleted and reinstalled my account. I’m at a loss for solutions, any advice is appreciated.
The games in question are left 4 dead 2 and call of duty black ops. Both have been played on this console several times. Regular Xbox discs read.

@@ljxstarl7516 if you’ve done the hard reset and the whole nine yards you probably need to replace the disc drive.
which black ops? my series x doesnt load left for dead 2, black ops 3 or any movies ive tried too watch
@@Isa_bankroll well it’s bo1 bo2 or any 360 compatible game that’s not being read. It does read current gen xbox games though. I have purchased some of said 360 games through the Microsoft store and they seem to work but only in digital form
Full shut down did the trick disc worked after unplugging.
Im having problems with a few game ever time i put the game in it tells me this game is not compatible but i have a xbox one x witch the game stats that it can be played on a original xbox one and a xbox one x so i dont know how to fix this problem
I put in my Red Dead Redemption 2 disc and the Series X had no problem reading it and starting the game. Then I put in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice disc and the disc drive motor seems to start spinning up a little then stops and won’t read Sekiro. Both of the discs are very clean because I take care of my games and look the same and i’m just confused as to why some discs work and others don’t

I am having very similar issues. Been playing Elden Ring just fine. Threw in Disco Elysium to start downloading that and no dice. Seems like similar sounds on my end. Some games load up via disc while others do not and show similarities to what you are describing. I'm curious if you found a fix at all.

My Xbox doesn’t have the power up and starter setting so what do I do with that?
if this video didnt work, which didnt for me, what i did is to unplug all cables from the xbox and clean all the dust. then i replugged the cables and my 2k23 worked.

Aye this straight up worked no cap 🧢, I was getting frustrated that I had bought a game and my other discs were working and this one was pre owned so I thought maybe it's just the disc , I already tried it on my friends x box one and still wasn't reading so I again thought maybe it's the disc but once I tried this on my x box series x I worked ,thumbs up for me ,thanks 👍

On my friend's Xbox I put in a game or Blu-ray now the thing is it doesn't even take my desks but in order for it to take it I will have to push the inject button but still it doesn't read it I will have to try this method when I go over to my friend's place again otherwise we'll have to schedule a repair

What I did when it shows like a warning symbol on your game then restart your Xbox. That helped me
