There is actually a much quicker fix just to add to your list of ideas. I take a piece of scrap 1/2 or 3/4 (depending on the hose size) copper tubing, flare both ends not completely but enough to create a stop. sand any sharp edge. insert into the hose pieces and hose clamp or wire, either way. Works for me in a pinch.
Very useful. Americans will think, why not just go to the hardware store for a connector -- or throw the hose away? But as our economy collapses, along with the supply chain, we better get used to making-do. The Third World has a lot of experience to pass along to us.

He didn't go out to buy the last one. His son works at the hardware and he brought it home. I have never seen a hose with so many holes. Time for a newer model.
But I will have to go out and buy some PVC, a PVC pipe cutter, and some cement glue... Too much work but I still find it a good exercise in creative problem solving that may come in handy at some point.
Let's see now The PVC Pipe adhesive (as if anyone outside of trades people would actually have this) is like $8 from bunnings then you have the sand paper and the conduit let's call it $15 in total compared to the $3 for the hose joiner LMFAO
@@bradleybaum1217 No... I meant it costs $3 to go to the hardware store and buy the Hose Joiner vs doing all this for $15 it's also not a good idea because those metal ties will rust

You would if you didn’t have the proper part to join a male to female connection. It’s called improvising and make due within the material you have on hand. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Makes sense doesn’t it.
My take is that it was done simply to show it can be done. Note he is using after market repair components on the hoses so he could have simply removed them and used one of his other fixes to join them. Other than that, it could be possible that someone has two scrap hoses with their original brass connections and rather than cut off the brass connectors, you could use his fabrication technique.
Great ideas...if one has the required items to fix the problem. Otherwise by the required adapter. Thank you for your effort and time.

Wow. That looks so much easier than just going to Bunnings and buying a joiner. 🤪
😅yea , for $3.
But the nearest branch of Bunnings is 14,000 kilometres away and the airfare would be $2,800 . . . I might just as well buy a new hose!

Yes, the last fix - buying an adapter is the easiest - all you need is a screwdriver to tighten the screw.

Yeah, you don't have to buy an adapter, you have to buy PVC pipe, PVC cutter and a heat blower. Yeah, right!
I learned something today Thank-you
Exelente, Gracias.
Thanks for sharing. 😊
this idea is great
Great idea.thanks.

Lol, when you put the water pressure on, it's gone... original purchase is more guaranteed
you need a tie wrapping cutting tool to cut tie right- It makes them tighter and you will not cut yourself from the part you left behind
I have one, you can adjust the tension and they leave a smooth cut.
How are you, dear professor, please tell me what is the name of this glue you use? Thankful. 👌🙏

put tape over the wire or zip ties to protect your hands.
Correct me if I am wrong. However, I count three fixes without buying an adapter, the fourth fix is a "Trumper" store bought adapter.
very good

He didn't go out to buy the last one. His son works at the hardware and he brought it home. I have never seen a hose with so many holes. Time for a newer model.
But the ordinary person would have to buy one, so the video title IS misleading.
most people would not have the tools or pipes to do this with so going out and buy the tools would be more expensive then just getting an adapter
Imagine having PVC and PVC glue lying around but you don't have any clamps or hose connectors lying around.
But I will have to go out and buy some PVC, a PVC pipe cutter, and some cement glue... Too much work but I still find it a good exercise in creative problem solving that may come in handy at some point.
'without going out to buy an adapter' - just go out and buy 1/4" pvc piping instead!
I like the ideas. But why do the first one when the third one was easier. And the fourth idea was using a store bought adapter.
good tips
Brilliant!
just take a short piece of 1/2" pipe two hose clamps and join them. The way ya did it is just too much of a head ache
For the hole I would use a bike tire patch

The PVC Pipe adhesive (as if anyone outside of trades people would actually have this)

it costs $3 to go to the hardware store and buy the Hose Joiner

it's also not a good idea
because those metal ties will rust
Gee what are those things on the two ends of the hose in #2 video I think here called adapters
THANKS
Thanks 🤝
These are videos for the sake of videos.
You can buy an adaptor and do the job at a very low cost.
very clever
the cost of the pvc glue and a piece of pvc will be the same as an adapter. At least adapters come with hose claps.....
So instead of going out to purchase a connector you have to purchase PVC pipe, PVC glue, a heat gun and wire. What percentage of the population have all that stuff on hand? Maybe 5%.
I would wager that almost all home owners who do some of their own yardwork have pieces of PVC and glue sitting in their shed from past projects.
buy a new pipe may be more easy and all these connection will be disconnected when water pressure is high.
What is easier ? Go to store to buy pipes glue tools or adapter?
