What is Yakshagana?
Yakshagana (yakṣagāna, [jɐkʃəɡaːnɐ])
is a theater form of Karnataka(India) that combines dance, music, dialogue, costume, make-up, and stage techniques with a unique style and form to depict stories of the epics and mythology. And most aspects mainly dialogue is extempore conversation between the characters of a story. This theater style is mainly found in the Coastal districts and the Malenadu region of India. Yakshagana is traditionally presented from dusk to dawn.

Idagunji Mela
Sri Idagunji Mahganapathi Yakshagana Mandali, Keremane(R) started as a Yakshagana Performing troupe (Mandali), now expanded itself into an organisation, with a colorful history of more than 85 years, located in picturesque coastal Karnataka, in the cultural village of Gunavante. It has performing spaces (Auditorium, Amphitheatre) and hosts festivals (Natyotsava) and a number of socio-cultural activities.
The organization three weighty ambitions in its activities. Education of the art form imparting its wisdom, and meaningful dissipation of knowledge - “Shikshana”; to protect the art form from deterioration, preserve and propagate adopting meaningful media - “Rakshana”; to enable artists and uplift spectators, facilitate creative exploration and develop upholding the true traditional values of Yakshagana Bayalata - “Samvardhana”. We aim to develop into a sustainable ecosystem connecting the native art, culture and traditional wisdom with global community.
