    Great video. I did the blue lagoon excursion back in 2018. I agree with your review. Save your money The food was terrible then too.

      It would be really awesome if the owners of Blue Lagoon would upgrade the experience for us! There isn't much to choose from in Nassau and it seems that every ships stops there. I guess if you know the food is terrible going in, you won't get your hopes up, right?

      Daryl Whitty thanks so much for hanging out with us. It sure is nice to have new friends to create for. We promise we are still going to answer your drinks package question from Freedom. Now we are posed with the same question again... do we buy one for Harmony of the Seas?

    Don’t touch anything!!! During World War II, the island was requisitioned for a year by the Allies for use as a secret training base for three teams of British and American underwater demolition squads who would swim the seven miles (11 km) around the island every day. Explosives and depth charges were blown up regularly around the island, and in the evenings, just for fun, they would toss hand grenades over the cliff. It was thought that the concussions weakened the cliff so much that it caused the small fort to collapse.

    I was just looking at this for our Thanksgiving cruise on Celebrity Reflection (part of Royal Group) and have it in my cart. I decided to check out RUclips reviews and this was a great one! Thank you! Since the shade, food and drinks are sub par on the VIP section, I think I'm going to pass. The only bummer is that we have done Nassau so many times and initially planned to stay on board because there is nothing to do in Nassau. Was the lunch really that basic and bad? If it was, that will really be a disappointment for both of us. We are also on Freedom just after Xmas so good review to keep in mind.

      DK It is sad that the food is sub par and the beach so hot and sunny. :( Unfortunately, I can't take back our words and make that meal fantastic because it was hard to choke down. The best part of the whole excursion was the ferry ride. The non-VIP side of the beach did have shade. And there were inflatable slides for kids there. If you don't mind the sound of happy kids having fun in the water, this could be a cheaper alternate. If you do want to try it out we discovered a tip! Ask the VIP staff to pull some chairs into the shade of the Lagoon for you. Then you could have a cooler place to lounge and enjoy a sunny beach to swim. If all you are looking for is a beach, a book and some mimosas ... this could be a dreamy place. If you want a luxury beach day... you can find that on one of your other ports. I wish we would have simply booked a catamaran and gone sailing, that's never a bad day. Are you able to explore Nassau on your own or do you need to stay in the cruise line bubble?

      @@AlwaysBeVacationing Thanks so much for your reply. We have cruised extensively and realize what is available in Nassau. Ya know, sometimes staying on the ship is a good thing. We are not restricted to the "bubble" but having been to Nassau in August, we understand about the wonderful construction but everything is sadly closed down. The VIP was attractive just because it was adults only and not around "screaming happy kids." We have done Atlantis 3 times so not over paying for that again - LOL. I'll look into the catamaran options just for an opportunity to get off the ship after two days at sea. As expected, our western itinerary was changed and we head all the way back to boring Nassau from Cozumel having two days at sea. If you have any other suggestions, I'm completely open to them.

      @@seemoreseascruises3791 We were actually just looking. Ocean Atlas is on the other side of the island. We haven't seen an official excursion that would take you out there. We had an unforgettable experience trying to get our 6 young men to snorkel in rough waters to see her. Then we sailed over to swim with the sharks. Have you been over there? If we were going out in a couple of weeks, we would just get on a boat of some kind as well. We missed the booking window on a catamaran excursion and ended up with Blue Lagoon. Sorry to hear your itinerary changed. (Our Harmony of the Seas itinerary changed last month too.) We are learning to be flexible! And a day at sea (or on a beach) beats any day land locked. :)

      @@AlwaysBeVacationing Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm not finding too much other than the Blue Lagoon stuff. I've got a fun excursion planned in Cozumel (another overdone port) and Costa Maya. We are just so in need of a vacation so being on a Celebrity ship for 7 days beats any week land locked! :) I subscribed, I'd love to see more of your content.

    So sad seeing those animals in captivity for the sake of vacationers :-( This kind of thing is why we avoid 99.9% of tours with animals

    • @AlwaysBeVacationing
      @AlwaysBeVacationing  2 года назад

      Seriously! We agree. We avoid that type of excursion as well and much prefer to see them out free in the ocean. These animals did look healthy and happy and had large areas to swim compared to others we have seen. It was still sad and when we walked away we hoped the dolphins were having fun playing, just like our dogs playing fetch back home.

    Would you suggest going to blue lagoon and not getting the VIP but just the regular day pass there?

    • @AlwaysBeVacationing
      @AlwaysBeVacationing  2 года назад

      @Michele Ferninando If you know what to expect at the VIP beach and are ok with it, go ahead and book it. Our expectations were not met because we thought it would be a different experience. (We thought we would have cush day beds with fans and a steward for some reason!) The regular day pass does give you a nice chair with an umbrella (first come first serve) and almost the same lunch. But, I think you have to pay for your drinks. It is probably sixes at the end of the day. This is a much better experience than staying in Nassau. Hopefully you get a stop at the Private Island. CocoCay is a favorite port in the Bahamas.

    Great video. Question: Do the cruise line allow you to book excursion to Atlantis Bahamas independently?

    • @AlwaysBeVacationing
      @AlwaysBeVacationing  3 года назад +2

      We sailed July 12, 2021 and we were allowed to book excursions independently and explore the port on our own. We opted not to go to Atlantis, simply because we have experienced it in the past and wanted to try a new place. Paradise Island and Atlantis is beautiful and very memorable. We remember commenting that the resort reminded us of Vegas (LOL)

      Good to know. Do they also if allow unvaccinated children? I have a 4y/o who wants to swim with the dolphins and go on the Lazy River Ride. :) Thank you.

      @@JanetteSolero When I checked prices on Atlantis vs. Blue Lagoon Island -which is literally across a small channel, you can see Atlantis as we pull into and leave the cove in the video- the Blue Lagoon Dolphin experience was a better price. I am not a fan of trapped dolphin excursions, BUT this one had very large natural sea pools and the dolphins were all rescues. They looked very happy and healthy. There were some young children participating in the Dolphin experience we filmed. There may be an age restriction. If there is, you can get fairly close to the animals without paying an upcharge. And I did notice some non purple banded people (mainly children) which indicates that unvaccinated children would be allowed. Check their private website for more info... www.bahamasbluelagoon.com/

    This is a tourist trap and a rip off. I was there on 3/15/22 and it was nothing but an upsell. ONE glass of lemon aid -ONE !! No more they say. What a horrible experience. Do something elder it’s not what this persons is advertising. No fish when you snorkel. Too much diesel fuel from the old boats.

    I only put dislike as I’d be livid if I arrived to this so called “VIP Adults only!” It looks like “they” just threw some chairs with an umbrella in a secluded area. Uh ya no! Canadian RCCL wants $150/pp for which I can rent a whole Bungelow with pool and beach access at the SLS in Nassau whereby you get a plethora of items included. This is just sad sad sad. I’m glad you made the best of it and appeared to be o-k with this. I’d be requesting money back. I think what one pays for is the Gas for the boat/ ferry. Ya no thanks. I will say thumbs up to you for giving the “true authentic” review. Thumbs down for this 🫤 experience

      Aww thank you! Sometimes it is hard for us to write a negative review when someone's livelihood is at stake. Our hope is that there is improvement in the future. Or that there will be other options come available. With so many cruise ships at port in Nassau, you would think that new experiences would present themselves on the island. -We will look into SLS! Thanks for the heads, up on that!
