i got one question to ask u if i transfer all my download files like all my download movies and my music files to my new iPad Pro is all my movie files and music files gonna still be their when it transfer to my other iPad Pro
This was a 4 hour operation for me with 3 calls to Apple support. I updated my old iPad to IOS 18.1, but you said nothing about the new iPad needing to be updated. My new iPad had 17.1 on it. I ended up doing a partial setup since that got my Wi-Fi connected, but I stopped short of transferring any data. I then updated the software to 18.1 which went smoothly. Then I erased all content and settings. At that point I was able to step through the setup you give in this tutorial and everything went smoothly. Well almost. I did manage to get everything transferred over, but when I went to my account page I had two iPads listed, an iPad 7 32GB and an iPad 7 32GB(2). I was supposed to have an iPad 9 64GB. I called support for the third time and the agent instructed me to click the “General” tab, then “About”. At the top was the “Name” which was filled in as iPad7 32GB (2) when the transfer occurred. That top “Name” can be changed to anything. Further down was the “Model Name” and the “Capacity”. Both these items confirmed that I had an iPad 9 with 64GB.
You are a lifesaver. I am a 79 year old senior whose old iPad was having battery problems and needed replacing. Oh but how the heck to I transfer my old one to my new iPad. Your step by step easy to follow video made it possible. Thank you so very much !!!!!
Hello Thank you I am 73 my old i.pad has become very tired so just yesterday hubby bought me a new 10 gen I pad wifi I watched u tube & found your video what i thought may be daunting to do on my own but hubby who dose not use the internet or have a phone said oh you can do it i am sure i have watch your video a few times & taken notes and i am on the way 42 min to go so thank you very much it was easy with your great video &help never too old to learn even after 10 strokes !!!
Had to come on here to say thanks. I finally got a new ipad Air 2024 and had to transfer over all my data from my old faithful, ipad Pro 2015! Thanks to this video and your efforts I have transferred my data with no problems at all, following along with your guidance. You are the stuff dreams are made of Sir, thank you.
Excellent instructional video!👏 Question: I currently have an IPad 10.2 which does not support IOS 18, which is why I’m upgrading to a new IPad. Once I update to my new IPad, is it safe to continue to use my old IPad, with the IOS 17. I’ve read a couple of post saying old IPad no longer safe for security. Thanks!
Thank you, it was very helpful. I would like to mention one important point: It is important that the new iPad has at least the same software version or better the newer one. Otherwise, the transfer via quick start may not work.
Is there an option of using a usb cable to connect the two iPads and transfer the data? seems like that would be more secure than going "over the wire".
I too thought this would be a problem since on a previous update I had to delete lots of stuff so there would be enough room update (and when I had deleted almost everything I still did not have as much room as the updater was saying it needed). I had put off updating to 18.1 because I didn’t want to go through that again. This was a major reason I was getting a new iPad. Anyway I decided to try the update without deleting anything and the update installed without any issues. But you also need to make sure that your new iPad 9 has updated software on it. I wrote a long post about my experience with which might be helpful.
Very good, if I want to give the old ipad to a family member who has never used an ipad, should I just erase some things. I want him to be able to take it out of the mailing box and be able to use it with minimal fuss.
This looked very easy, but did not work for me (a frustrated senior). The camera thingy with the circles didn't work. I tried again, and then it transferred everything from my phone instead, which isn't what I wanted. I guess I was supposed to turn my phone off during this process.
Everything has gone well, until on the new iPad a window opened called "Quick Start". It asks for "nearby devices". I have the old one next to the new one, but nothing happens. Seems it is stuck. Thank you.
Does not work. I have the ORIGINAL ipad with the IOS 5. Bluetooth won't connect; says unsupported on the old Ipad. It also will not allow me to back up, as it says server not trusted. Any ideas how to get around this? I already have my new Ipad all set up; but wanted to get all my old books off the book app.
Stop trying to listen with your eyes. Furthermore if your brain doesn't allow you to keep up then go into the RUclips video settings and slow down the playback speed, simple innit.
Which iPad model do you use? 🤔
