Hi Lomo gang, I often strap stuff to the top of my float (like camera, water etc) but this means the bag starts to list and/or flip over. If I add water into the lower chamber, will the bag handle it? Will the stuff inside remain dry? (I'll still probably double-bag) It's my favourite dry-bag so far, but I think there's still room for a product for longer distance swimmers.

Hi There, It's not something we've tested, but theoretically, if the air chamber is air tight, then it should also conatin the water with no problem. So as long as it's not leaking air and going down then it should keep the water in too. Of course the bag will be heavier, and less buoyant giving safety concerns so it's not something we'd recommend. I'd also imagine it getting quite mouldy in there unless you dried out the air chambers after letting the water out each time.

Lomo Watersport thanks for the tips! I actually tried it today and it was too heavy, as you predicted. Just putting me clothes in, but shoes at the bottom, was enough to keep my water bladder on top...

It looks like not much air is hold by this bag. Two blows from each side. Regular dry bag sealed without pressing the air out, probably would work as good as tis one.

The main difference is that air simply trapped by rolling down the bag top will slowly leak out on a long swim. Using a sealed chamber is much more effective. A surprising amount of air is contained in each side. The average lung capacity of an adult man is around 6L so 2 deep breaths in each side could give around 24L of air.

I was looking for a flotation device that would help a tired swimmer.......
    Also need a bag

Hi There, These bags are not designed for that purpose I'm afraid, they are designed for helping you to be more visible whilst in the water , and also to help you carry a small amount of gear with you. Whilst these bags do have an element of buoyancy in them they are not personal flotation devices or safety equipment that should be relied upon to give you, the swimmer, extra buoyancy.
