    i upgrade cpu t5200 to t7200 core2duo
    ram upgrade 2*2gb= 4gb ram
    it work fine with both cpu processor
    Important --4gb ram only work with 64bit os I have window 10 and 7 dual boot 64bit
    If you install 32 bit os it detect only 3gb from 4gb ram setup. That's why use 64 bit os

    I have hp 530 with a core 2 duo 2400T and a i945GME Rev. 03 Chipset should it support a t7600. The t2400 is a 32bit cpu or is it a motherboard and chipset that suports both architectures?

    Hi. Great video very useful. Just bought the same laptop for £4 ($5.20 USD). Very cheap and worked fine. I have a Celeron M 530 1.73ghz (533 mhz bus) currently in the system the bios version is f.07 and chipset is 945gm/e socket 478. I was wondering if I could upgrade the cpu to a core 2 duo t7200 2.00 ghz (667 mhz bus)?

      Hi, and thanks for your comment. Sounds like you got a nice deal. The 945GM chipset should support up to a T7600 CPU, so the T7200, T7400 should be okay.

    • @ThatWord
      @ThatWord  9 лет назад +2

      +Hector De la Garza The method I used in the video just involved taking the hinges for the screen off, and leaving the screen loosely in place. Overall it's a better way to go than actually following the HP directions and taking it all apart. If you do want to go the HP route, you'll want to be careful about detaching the wifi cables, which tend to run in a frame around the screen, down to, and through, the motherboard, to the wireless card on the other side. It's a pain, I know.

      @@ThatWord Cheers,
      I'm reporting back on my fiddling with this laptop. 😄
      A couple of hours ago I put in my new Intel T7600 CPU & sadly it doesn't work. If I press the power button, the laptop turns on & everything, but it automatically shuts off after 5 s or after the yellow LED blinks about 6 times (going green afterwards). 🙁
      Am I missing something here ?
      It has the i945GM chipset (Rev. 03 - according to CPU-Z program), the BIOS version is the last (68MVU v F.07, 03/18/2008) so... 😕
      I'm thinking I should rather go for an Intel T2600 or take my chances (still) with the Intel T7400.

      Sorry to hear it didn't run. Just to rule things out, you could try it first with just one stick of RAM and then the other, or even BIOS at all default settings. I've done this upgrade with T7200s so will keep this in mind about the T7600.

      @@ThatWord Cheers,
      Well hours ago I finally found the time to give this laptop another try & sadly I have to report that there is no change. 😑
      Prior to putting in the new T7600 I resetted the BIOS to factory defaults. I even disabled the Dual-core mode parameter just in case. I swapped the memory stick I have once on one slot, next time on the other. 🤔
      Symptoms remain the same. I'm also thinking that's possible that I bought a faulty/broken CPU in the first place as well. Though that might seem like a stretch. However the symptoms that I'm experiencing also indicate this outcome. 😶

    • @ThatWord

      Hi Rosp. In general, if you are not thinking about upgrading the cpu, there is little advantage to upgrading the bios. If you are having a specific issue, the latest bios might be something to try, but otherwise, with no cpu upgrade planned, you should be fine. Flashing the bios is not a hard thing to do, and sometimes the latest version will offer things like new microcodes for greater compatibility with newer processors. Cheers.

    • @ThatWord
      @ThatWord  Год назад

      As a general rule, you can expect it to run a majority of the games from when it was made. In the case of an HP 530, we're talking about 2008. Graphics are something like Intel GMA 950 if I recall (this video was made many years ago). So maybe a very low framerate Minecraft?

    • @ThatWord
      @ThatWord  7 лет назад +4

      First you'll want to determine what chipset you have. To do this you can use a free program like CPU-Z or Speccy. For example, if you have the Intel GME 945 chipset, you can run dual core CPUs with a 667mhz front side bus. The fastest I would try putting in there is the T7600, but the T7400 or T7200 would be almost as good. As always, make sure you've installed the latest BIOS before doing a CPU upgrade.

      I think the T7200 would make a very nice upgrade from a T2050, but since the T2050 runs at 533fsb and the T7200 at 667fsb, you should run a free utility like CPU-Z or Speccy to see what chipset you have. If it says you have the 945 chipset, the T7200 should work fine. You may want to make sure you are running the latest available BIOS before doing the upgrade.

    • @ThatWord
      @ThatWord  4 года назад

      If it's turning off after a short time when on AC power, there are several possibilities. It could be that your AC jack is old and no longer able to give it the level and consistency of power it needs. Seems a good candidate since your battery also isn't charging well. If it took minutes and not seconds to turn off, I'd say maybe the vents were clogged and it was overheating, but if it turns off quicker than that, probably not. It could also be something not easily fixable, like the capacitors have swollen or blown. If that's the case, a replacement laptop seems the way to go. Good luck with it man.

      It is possible that even though your model is an HP 530, the motherboard may not support the T7200. Your Celeron M processor likely runs at 533mhz front side bus, and the T7200 is 667mhz fsb. Not all 530 models can be upgraded to a T7200. Seems like your motherboard won't support it.

      Hi Colin, Provided that you really do have the 945 chipset (and not the 940) I think you should be able to run a dual core @ 667fsb, even though your current cpu is 533. So you should be to do something like a T7200, although the fastest the model came with at the time was a T5200. I changed my laptop cpu recently just few days agp using this video tutorial however my laptop still only recognizes my old cpu under System settings when I boot up my laptop. As I have programme called CPU- Z installed I know my new CPU which I put in correctly is working and not broken. my laptop is a Toshiba satellite pro L850 which I bought pre- built. my old cpu I still have with me just in case. As I am quite new to computer building I do not know much. I do know however my laptop has latest bios. I was therefore wondering what I need to do so my laptop changes and detects my new cpu right now it reads under system settings the old intel core i3 3120M cpu not the new intel core i7 3540M processor one thing is for certain I correctly installed the cpu and thermal compound also the cpu sockets both match so no problem there. Is there anyone out there who could kindly help me out about this.

      @ThatWord  7 лет назад

      Hi Tom, I must admit I am a bit surprised to hear that you used a tutorial for an older Compaq to change the cpu in a newer Toshiba. But all the more congrats to you for doing it successfully! My first inclination when I hear that CPU-Z correctly identifies the cpu (and from what I gather the laptop seems to work fine) is that the microcode for that particular cpu may not be in the bios. After doing a search it seems that the L850 can be upgraded with a i7-3610QM as a "best" option (according to some users). Your 35430M seems like it should work, and from your description all seems to be working except proper cpu identification. Odder still that it would continue to identify the old cpu when the new one is in there. You say it reads that way under System, and I am curious if it also reads that way in the BIOS itself. If the correct cpu is identified in BIOS, I would be less inclined to worry. Something you could try would be to run a live version of Linux (like Mint, run live off installation media but without installing it) and see how the cpu is identified under that OS.

It would be a gamble to try the higher end of the mobile 800MHz fsb CPUs in this, like the T9500. It makes sense on paper, but sometimes the BIOS just doesn't have the microcode for it.

      +ThatWord is it necessary to remove two front screws to open back cover or it can be removed without removing them..?

      +muzictherpy Haven't worked on this model in about 8 months so I'm not sure which two screws you mean. Sorry. It is possible to save a whole lot of time versus following the manual for getting the back opened up.

    Is it possible to upgrade it upto T7800?

      +Anupam Datta I'm pretty sure this model won't take a cpu with an 800mhz fsb. The chipset is either the 945 or the 940 (from their specs here: www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04142132.pdf?ver=14). And here's an interesting discussion about maxing the cpu: h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-530-Max-Processor/td-p/80391

      +ThatWord oh, yes. I got a link of discussion which says t7600 is supported: h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-530-Max-Processor/td-p/80391/page/2
      I am stuck between 7200 and 7600
      T7600 : www.aliexpress.com/item/New-and-original-Intel-Core-Duo-T7600-CPU-4M-Cache-2-33GHz-667MHz-FSB-Scoket-478/32405190378.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.160.9qY8Nz&ws_ab_test=201407_2,201444_5,201409_5
      T7200 : www.aliexpress.com/item/free-shipping-1pcs-T7200-CPU-2-0-4M-667-NEW-ADN-ORIGINAL-945-platform/32280982707.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.77.237RAt&ws_ab_test=201407_2,201444_5,201409_5
      What is your suggestion for this? t7200 or t7600 ? Consider, the laptop's age ( 7 years ) and price of processor. But with proper maintenance and cleaning It is working well. Also if 7200 then can you suggest me what price range will be good for buying? Because in Ali express It is hard to determine which one is new and original. Thanks for the links
