    Hey Big John good to see you on the silver screen!! Haha. You remember me up on the corner with the dogs and the motorcycles. My best memory of you is carving up the hill and diving down Wisconsin on your Gold WIng grinning ear to ear.
    Well everything changes and change is the only constant. We had to leave that shack on the corner as the rent skyrocketed. And better off for it.
    Those were some good times and we were some free souls up there. Funny you mentioned Fillmore, I was in Western Addition until the '89 quake and moved up to the hill to get on some solid rock and garage space for my motorcycles. Basically, gentrification chased me around the city for 30 years and then I just said, bye SF, I have bigger dreams than you.
    I could write a book most interesting about living up there for my 20 years or so. Few are those who drift off to pleasant sleep comforted by the sound of small arms.

    The city of Milwaukee did the same thing a few years back they invested
    90 million dollars to create a mix income community.. The people who can afford to live anywhere are not going to live in an area where people still shoot & rob each other.. If you are not from this area you would think it was a very nice area. But until people change their minds/ behaviors it doesn't matter how nice you make an area/ housing. You have to change the 🤯 mentality 🤯
    that continues to keep people stuck for generations after generations .

    I was born on Potreo Hill, lived on Dakota Street and Missouri Street. Potreo Hill was always a hidden gem. Had real good times there, i used to go to Klein's Deli which was a classic Sandwich Shop now they're not even there anymore. Goat Hill had the best pizza around. Pro-Am hoops started in Potreo Hill also before they moved that. Potreo Hill always offered the best view also before the gentrification came in, they began building tall buildings and taking away the view from the residents who once lived in Potreo Hill and still live in Potreo Hill. There's no place like Potreo Hill. Shout out to Hard Knox Cafe in the Dog Patch which is one of the few remaining businesses still around.

  • @brindlebriar
    @brindlebriar 6 лет назад +10

    Why would you want mixed income communities? What's the supposed benefit of that? How is that imagined to play out? People make money to move out of poor communities, not to move back into them. And when there are rich people who live in poor communities, they are generally hated, resented, and frequently robbed, and sometimes murdered, just for having more. People hate that.
    Let me explain something. When you have money and live in a poor community, they feel comfortable asking you for stuff. By stuff I mean constantly asking for loans which they don't pay back. If you give them, they'll bleed you dry. They'll adjust their standard of living to what they can afford with your supplementary 'loaned' income. They get accustomed to it, come to take it for granted; and then if you fail to give it, they can get really angry.
    So, I don't see how they envision this playing out in a positive way. Here's how riches work. The people who have them want to get away with them before they can be taken away. And those who don't have them want to take them away from those who do, and usually further punish those who had them for having had them. None of them want to just live together in mixed communities.
    Most rich people know this instinctively. You don't just parade expensive stuff in front of have-nots. Even if they don't take it, it's a cruel and insensitive display on your part. Good people don't want to do that.

What you will.

    • @brindlebriar
      @brindlebriar 6 лет назад

      'without ever working'... where do you think you get your weed from? That's big business, dangerous business, jobs you don't want to do. But 90+% of Silicon Valley tachies probably purchase and smoke the product, and consider themselves heroes for _not_ helping to produce it or taking on any share in the risks. They get to use it while despising those who sell it to them for selling to them what they want, and use, and would be upset if they lost access to.
      The fact that a good or service is illegal doesn't make it easy to render. That makes it considerably harder and more dangerous, though it doesn't effectively diminish the availability, precisely because of the brave men and women of our country(and south of the border) who put their lives on the line every day to serve the techies of the first world, striving for excellence without fail, in the face of persecution and murder to supply our marijuana needs.
      And where are the monuments to the fallen? The pensions, the dedicated hospitals, the social prestige and respect?
      Their reward is that once we have beaten them all the way into the ground, fucked their women(that's the only part I'm into) enslaved their sons, and jailed sufficient of their numbers to cow the rest, we give them some food to eat, and maybe some shelter for the women and de-fathered children, but not often for the men.
      It's nice to be a greater being. I'm patting myself on the back right now. But you're right. Everyone is poor and enslaved by this corrupt system, including the techies who think they're smart, and the Silicon Valley techies keep voting the slave master Democrats into office and funding their campaigns and providing back doors in their software for the CIA to surveil every human being until they can predict everything you do before you even know you want to do it and there is no longer any means of even hypothetically fighting back against what will have then become, by definition, an absolute totalitarian hegemony, making Orwell's prediction in 1984 incorrect only in so far as being off the temporal mark by a few decades.
      Odd that the 'greater beings' seem to vote the same way as the 'lesser beings,' and both demographics almost invariably for the furtherance of their own enslavement. Do the Zuckerberger types actually imagine they're going to be left at the helm, holding the reins of the surveillance machines for their own personal frivolities, after they have finished building them and are no longer useful?
      These are naieve children who grew up in 'everybody-gets-a-trophy' soccer-mom culture. Even the the 'testosterone poisoned,' 'toxicly masculone' _CARTOONS_ we used to watch - a few episodes of "G.I. Joe" - would have better prepared them to conceptualize what evil masters do with 'allies' who have served their purpose.
      'Relatively intellectually suited to techy stuff, on average?' Probably, yes. 'Greater beings?' LoL. You'd have to apply one wacky standard. Nobody's even willing to fuck those kids unless they get paid a whole Lot. And then they go home and vomit.

    If you’re on welfare, or in public or government housing you don’t need or have it owed to you to live in San Francisco. The money it takes to build housing for the needy would be much better spent and would house a lot more people in need if they were built I places like Tracy, Modesto or Stockton just to name a few. The sense of entitlement is breathtaking. The working poor, who work in SF, some with more than 1 job can’t afford to live there so why should folks who are completely dependent on gov’t and don’t work at all feel entitled to live there? Amazing

    Build it and they will come. Subsidize poverty, create poverty. Put us with the bad people', she says.' Don't know what they gonna do with me,' she says. 'We don't have a choice' she says. Certain government entities create this dependence and mindset, and then it grows.

    Trying to revitalize neighborhoods, where most residents have a disregard for the property and disrespect for others, is throwing good money after bad. They have done this for years and it has never worked and never will. It takes the residents themselves to give a damn about where they live if they want it to be a place of pride rather than embarrassment.
