UPDATE: I brain farted while recording and this is $10 in the subscriber shop and $15 on Amazon starting yesterday . It already sold out on Amazon once and then they re-released it for pre-order at a later date, but still available in the subscriber shop at the time of writing this. I'm going to record readalongs for these to help you decide further so stay tuned!

Thank you so much for reviewing these. I can't belive they finally sell some books outside of their subscriptions. That's so great. Amazon is already listing them but says currently not available, so I'll keep checking there 😊
I definitely would have expected a transition to their own bed as well based on the title of the bed book - not going to buy that one. Our 4 year old is finally ready and wants to sleep on her own (we co-sleep while they're little, so they actually need to learn to sleep on their own) but despite all the excitement and preparation, always when she is about to fall asleep in her own bed, she starts screaming bloody murder and will only calm down once she is back in the family bed. So I would have definitely gotten that book and would have been so disappointed. Well, if you have any suggestions for books on that topic, I'd be happy to hear them 😊
What I wouldn't have gotten is the preschool book since our 4 year old will be starting this fall but is only excited about it (sounds a lot like your 2 year old - she's also preparing her lunch box every day to practice 😂 ). So I would have been concerned that it gives her negative ideas about going. But since you say it's great for any new situations, I'm definitely going to get that one.
What is your take on the screen time book for kids who never had any issues with putting the screen away? I know my kids would love that book in general but never had an issue when screen time is over. Do you think it's written in a way that could start tantrums when we never had them before?
I loved your thorough video about books and what to be careful about when introducing books. So I'm very curious what you think. Thank you

OMG I think they sold out in literally hours! They were listed as presale up through today when they officially launched on amazon (i think that's what I read?) - and I'm guessing they sold out because when I was pulling links yesterday it said "presale" They gave subscribers early access like a week or two ago now. WOW!
I dont think it'll give a negative look - i may do readalongs with these, especially since they sold out! You'll see its very gentle book.
I would not get the screentime book in your situation. I think knowing other kids have a hard time with it could lead them to "trying" that out and cause a problem.

I totally resonate with your pacifier struggle! My daughter is totally dependent on her thumb and all of my gentle methods failed. So now, I ask her to stop when I see it. And the problem is, she can’t seem to fall asleep without it, and will instinctually suck in the middle of the night. There is literally nothing I can do. I’m out of tricks. I’ve been trying to wean her since Christmas, and I’ve gotten her to not suck when she is not stressed or sleepy. But when it’s bedtime or a stressful transition I have to choose between not thumb sucking and sleep/having a calm toddler, such as on the plane. And it’s becoming such a source of contention between me and her, and well, every trusted adult in her life (who are all onboard) and her. This is harder than potty training. I have no idea how to proceed.

Ugh that is so tough - i swear i kept letting her keep the binky out of fear around the thumb. It's a tricky situation.
I shared all that about the sleep disorder stuff, because I had to learn it the hard way - and was very triggered through the whole journey - but once I understood more about her nervous system and what was going on physiologically the comparison was easier to follow and i wasn't triggered as much. I still get panicky about the long road ahead we have in fixing stuff but my panic/frustration enver helped the situation.
I'm sure you probably tried this, but ill leave it just in case, when we ditched binky she did start with her thumb briefly and i used this on her: bit.ly/4bEwDwm and it seemed to do the trick!

Thanks for the review! I was hoping it was about getting my 2 yo to sleep in her own bed

So, the bedtime one is really only for kids who slept in cribs? Or is it still a good book for trying to get your 2 year old in their own bed all night?
I have them in the subscriber shop right now. $10 a book in there.
Also I already bought the potty training and new sibling course packs. Wondering if you are going to be reviewing those too

    • @theconfusedmom
      @theconfusedmom  3 месяца назад +1

I don't usually do any of the course packs, but would love to hear how they are!
Yeah I think I say in this -- or maybe i edited out for time - but i originally said that i think it's a good book and all kids can always use more reinforcement on the topic of staying in bed at some point, but it's not great. Fairly generic to any of the gentle parenting accounts you'd see talk about the subject.
I linked in the description the page with the song for it too if you want to listen to that first: www.theconfusedmillennial.com/el3o -
And I think I'm just going to drop readalongs for the books since they sold out on Amazon already!! You could resell it pretty easily too if you don't like it. But stay tuned!

The potty learning course probably wasn’t worth it to me, but we also have barely started potty training. I’ve read through all the information and it just wasn’t new to me. I already had the pee & poop books which are an add on/ not included in the course.
I am so thankful for the new sibling course pack! It’s amazing! $70 with 4 books to help prepare your child before and after bringing new sibling home. We are reading them a lot right now to get ready. Also gives parents ideas for how to have them interact and adjust in the parent guide part.

Awe that is awesome! I did a video on adding a new sibling too - were the book lovevery specific or general? If general would love the names! @@eljerl

This is just my own opinion, but tbh I'm pretty disappointed in the "Something's Wrong With George" book. It would have been useful for our family because we do have pets like fish, turtles, and lizards and they do occasionally die. But one of the things that we value is proper care of animals, and the aquarium that the goldfish is in is just not appropriate for keeping goldfish in and likely contributed to it's death. I don't want to normalize that especially since we do have goldfish. The same thing also happened in "When you love a living thing" but at least we could tack that part shut. I'll think I'll pass on this book. I wish lovevery had taken the opportunity to model proper fish care.

You know, I thought the exact same thing - especially when it was goldfish live for 1-2 years - but without air in that tank🫣 I didn’t add it as a criticism since it wasn’t part of the topic but you’re spot on from an accuracy perspective!

@@theconfusedmom Goldfish can live for over 20 years with proper care, none of ours have passed yet. I expect some of them to still be alive when the kids leave for college! You're correct about the air. Also the size and lack of filter. But also, well set up tanks look amazing and it would have been so nice to look at. So many missed opportunities here.
