I'm a police dispatcher. What we're taught from day one is that the two MOST DANGEROUS situations a police officer can be in are domestics (for obvious reasons) and traffic stops (for this exact reason we're talking about). No clearer example than this.
Couple nights ago i had a lone officer end up doing roadside field sobriety testing on a Hells Angels member with a drug trafficking and firearms record. Waiting to hear him come back over the radio was the worst five minutes of my day.
