I lived across from the round house at 120 bayview road they took it down and made a park out of it which is still there today .We lived there from 1959 till 1964. Man the trains were part of our day .You don't know what you got till it is gone They were magical.
There is a lot shown in Brockville that's no longer there. The station foundation at Bellamy was shown and that is the closest I have come to finding a picture of it in place.
The focus is lousy. It jiggles and shakes constantly, skips ahead and was likely shot with a hand hailed Super 8. Thank God someone was into photography to shoot this so we can treasure now!
That was an interesting ride! I was trying to recognize some possibly still standing landmarks. Did this route go up to Carleton Place at one time? Thanks for sharing this!
The idiots ripped up the track to make the transit way for buses and than 50 years later decide they need a train that goes from the west end to Tunney's Pasture. The tracks were ALREADY THERE!
Same situation with Interstate 5 Portland OR to Vancouver WA. Back in the 1980s when they completely resurfaced the Interstate Bridge there were the Former Trolly Tracks. The original bridge had trolleys running both direction with Trollys from Eugene to Vancouver. Now they've been arguing about light rail since the late 1960's. Then every ten years they formed a new committee and another environmental impact study. We're still using the bridge built in 1914, yes you read that right! 1914, and 1955 for the second span. They covered the trolley tracks when they built the second span.
its insane to see how much rail Ottawa used to have. It makes my head hurt that they removed 90% of it.

l took this root today on via, its amazing to see what it looks like 60 years earlier.
Interesting to see the old tracks on the north side of the Brockville Station. Thanks!

The line from Pembroke to Ottawa was fairly new. What a great transit line. All ripped up now.

what! They could have used those lines to travel citizens from Ottawa to Brockville.
On a Monday to Friday there are 20 passenger trains a day between Brockville and Ottawa, granted only about half stop in Brockville.
