Always do what works best for you. I watch videos from different channels and I take that and do it my way and see what works best for me. I started growing some stuff last year and I plan on growing a lot more this year.
I'd top your seed trays with the fine mix but use the regular mix for the majority of the space. That stuff is going to be beneficial for airflow, water retention, and nutrient holding. It doesn't have to fully break down for that, and it looks broken down enough to not be a nitrogen sink.
I have those exact same plastic microwave trays. I have no idea what kind of food they came with, it was years ago. But I did save all of those trays. On a related note, i use 1/2” wire mesh (hardware cloth) nailed to a square frame to sift large stuff, and a screen door screen for finer sifting. It wouldn’t be very good for potting mix though, the perlite won’t fit through.
yeah it is easy to make a sifter. Some 1/4in hardware cloth stapled to some boards. I have also used an old fryer basket that I had but it disappeared ..
@@DestinationJapan95what chemicals. Potting mix is literally the same thing as compost. Potting mix is composted forest products (wood chunks), green waste, peat moss, and perlite. Compost is everything else, sans perlite. You sound goofy 😂
@@DestinationJapan95 I worked at a local nursery and I’m a certified horticulturalist. Here’s the ingredient list for the local big box store’s potting mix: Aged recycled forest products, aged rice hulls, composted poultry manure, perlite, peat moss, hydrolyzed feather meal, dehydrated poultry manure, dolomite & oyster shell limes (as pH adjusters), bat guano, kelp meal, worm castings Not everything is synthetic Miracle Gro crap. Get a grip and take your medication, wacko.

The chunks of wood is in there on purpose my guy. It's Shredded Pine Bark - It lowers the pH value of the soil.

Thank you for your comment! I'll definitely have to make my own.
Thanks for the info ! 👍

I for sure will be making my own. I definitely appreciate your suggestion thank you!
I don't care what you have save it and reamend it, it works great
Stop using this, start using compost. Use micro life to grow, not chemicals
Different things for different uses
@@slothen3564 no, there is never an excuse to use synthetic garbage that leeches into soil and food/water supplies. Do better 🤦♂️

@@Redhotshawntexas no it isn’t 🤦♂️ stop spreading disinfo. Read the back of the potting mix bags. Just use normal compost
