I was surprised by the cool nights in Oahu but the constant breeze made it even cooler. I’d suggest buying a hoodie or jacket from Hawaii instead of packing one. That way you get a souvenir and something to keep you warm at night if it gets too cool for you.
So often folks think the sunscreen they are bringing is reef safe because the words are not well regulated. As a seasoned Hawaii visitor, I suggest folks simply buy their sunscreen on the island where the state has regulated their use appropriately and banned the sale of ones that say "reef safe" but aren't. What I always pack: 1. Rashguard pants & shirt- yes I snorkel with full coverage. Science is starting to suggest even mineral sunscreens are bad for the reef, so I'm aiming to wear as little of it as possible 2. My own snorkel mask/fins, well-fitted ones matter, but only buy them if you are going to do it at least every year. Avoid "full face" ones as they are actually kind of dangerous despite feeling more intuitive. 3. Very breathable full sleeve length shirts, like linen- still to avoid sunscreen 4. a thin but slightly oversized rain jacket/windbreaker with a hood 5. Watershoes or hiking sandals designed for water 6. Refillable water container in a hiking sling bag with a front pocket 7. 2 Turkish towels per person- very quick drying, and not leaving microplastics around like microfiber equivalents. One protects your car seat from water/mud that may get on you during swims/hikes, the other to dry yourself. 8. Stream2Sea leave-in conditioner, slapping some into your hair even if you can't rinse the salt out with help loads if your hair dries wild and tangly. 9. A few bathing suits. Most days I use bikinis instead of undergarments because they dry fast if it rains, your day is more open to impulsive decisions, etc (and they are easier to go to the restroom in than full coverage) 10. A sunhat, preferably with a strap in case it gets windy or you are wearing on a boat 11. A mosquito bite prevention product, either in a small easy to carry tube, or in wipe form. Keep in sling back front pocket. 12. Cut pieces of moleskin for spots where your shoes start to rub your feet raw on hikes. Keep in your sling bag front pocket 13. Dramamine for boat tours 14. Reusable bag for shopping/farmers markets 15. A go-pro. Even if you don't want to take underwater pics (you should) a go-pro can survive the rain, or splash on a boat, or getting dropped or bonked on things (latter back onto the boat for example). A cinching wrist strap is highly recommended. Floating handles are great too, but with my wrist strap, I've never needed it, whereas my husband has needed his floating handle several times because he doesn't do the strap. He's way more likely to lose a camera than I am.
I love your “discussion” at the end of this video about packing cubes and Jordan saying “I’m going to call my mother”. This just adds even more to your authenticity. It’s great to see someone who is so honest and truly cares about sharing information with others to help plan trips that are trips of a lifetime for many. I just wish I had found your channel sooner. But will definitely be watching more as my daughter and I plan our next trip to Hawaii. You guys are a hoot 😂.
We bought reef safe sunscreens, and they were awesome. But our water shirts were game changers. We needed so much less sunscreen and could wear them in and out of the water as we walked around town or hiked too, which meant less shirts needed overall and less sunburn!
I went to Oahu last August and I agree that a water shirt is a must! They dry off in less than 10 minutes and that was basically the walk back to the hotel from the beach
Thanks again for another great vid! I swim/snorkel a lot, and HATE to get salt water and sand in my ears so... I wear earplugs and use "bone conduction" headphones for music; I get the ones that play through the cheekbone. (FINIS is my favorite, and yeah, very clear)... just load your playlist.😁
My daughter graduated from Hawaii Pacific University. We r from NC. We've been 2 Oahu 3 times. She knew NO ONE, now she has friends around the world! Pls, PLS pack ur open mind, ur kindness and ur smile! If u do, the ppl will embrace u like family! Pack light weight clothes, comfortable shoes, a swimsuit, and have FUN!😊🤗
Thank you for your tip. Iam 32y, women from Tibet, I am traveling solo for the first time in my life next week to Hawaii. Iam so excited and little bit worried. But I’ll remember ur words. Thanks a lot.
Packing cubes are must!!! I unpack my suitcase into the drawers with clothing still in the cubes and it makes it a breeze to repack when it's time to leave. I also think a hat, sunglasses, rash guard/sunshirt, light summer clothing,(puffy jacket-Haleakala)water shoes/sandals, bug spray, microfiber towel, water bottle, smart phone, battery bank will pretty much do it. You can rent or buy pretty much anything else you might need.
I always bring a float-especially when I stay in Oahu bc there are so many fun, calm places to float. I pass it off to another vacationer when I leave and use that space to pack my souvenirs.
My husband and I are taking our first trip to Hawaii at the end of May. It was super overwhelming to choose which island to visit. After subscribing and watching your guy's videos it made it so much easier to come to a decision. We are staying 10 days and are staying in Maui and taking a day trip to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor. Thank you guys so much for all your travel tips. I also have my list ready on what to pack again thanks to you guys! 😊
We bring several water bottles, our own snorkel gear that we know is good quality and fits us well, our own beach towels in case wherever we’re saying does not have them, windbreakers, our own beach and shopping bags and our own mineral sunscreen. We also bring our disposable rain ponchos because they take up much less room than our raincoats but when you need them they are awesome to have!
Great list! We bring all these. If we're staying in a hotel, we also pack a super-flat, collapsible cooler for picnics and a collapsible backpack (=stuffs into its own tiny bag) for hikes/shopping. We always have those cords that keep your sunglasses from falling in the water, and we prefer to pack our own mask and snorkel (we rent fins). I also like to pack a backpacking towel and big, loose sun dress to change into/out of swimsuit under, for if we're driving around and unexpectedly see a great place to hop in the water.
Great list. I think you’ve covered the important points. When I travel anywhere, I pack a pillowcase so I can be sure that my face is laying on some thing clean and in case there’s soaps/etc. irritate my skin. I bring my own mask and snorkel so I know that it fits right and is well sanitized. Of course you can easily rent or buy. Definitely bring a waterproof pouch for your cell phone, it also helps to keep sand out. And a small waist pack to carry essential items. Things that I would need, but can easily buy when I get there… Sarong which have so many uses, Hat with a good brim, insulated bag either medium or large to keep food and other stuff cool.
I pack my Columbia waterproof windbreaker jacket for all my Hawaii trips. It packs into its own pocket and takes very little space in my suitcase. Always glad I have it.
Yes, I use packing cubs. Everything is organized. What I absolutely bring to Maui is my snorkel gear (prescription mask) & breathing tube, swim wear, shorts, tanks and 1 sweater for cooler evenings and my travel outfit. I lived in my swim wear. 🌴😎
So it sounds a bit weird but water shoes are my favorite hiking shoe. They’re great. Wore them hiking in the redwood forest as well as rocky hikes. No water needed. They’ve got such good traction and breathable. If you happen to run across a stream, well you’re covered for that too.
You will love it and their guide is a must if you’re traveling with kids. Best money I’ve ever spent. I’m always stuck packing my kid and my self, planning trip, gathering documents, planning outings and meals. Their guide freed me from so much planning. So grateful to have found this channel.
Well you’ve pretty much covered it! A water bottle ,reef safe sunscreen, reusable bags, and I like to bring a light weight wrap. Something in a light fabric that can keep you warm on the plane and that you can use as a skirt or a towel when you need to.
Great video! I love packing cubes too. I also pack for my kids and find it so much easier to unpack when we get to our destination. Just put the cubes in drawers and you’re done! 😊
I love the aloha bags. They are made with tyvek and are splash proof. I use the tote for the beach/shopping, etc and a smaller zipped pouch as a purse a lot of the time.
I’m going for the first time to Hawaii all the way from Washington state in 8 days from now and I’m turning 30 soon. Always day dreamed about it. Thanks for your helpful videos!
😂. Seriously? Couple of lame tourists giving other tourists lame tourist advice.. why don't you try actually getting some information and true knowledge. Maybe talk to someone who's lived here all their life and knows about the ocean and the land.. this is why RUclips is lame and Bs and sucks..
I like packing cubes! Especially to keep things organized on the trip as well as saving space. Also something I liked bringing to Hawaii was the waterproof phone pouches for boat rides or potentially wet hikes. Definitely not a necessity but kinda nice to have.
Always practical and helpful, thank you. Packing cubes are the best and if you roll your clothes before putting them in a cube, you can fit a lot into one cube. They are space saving, organizational must haves.
I love packing cubes! I pull the cube out of my suite case and place it in the drawer. Bring a hat. Make sure you bring a moisturizing sunscreen for face and neck. Regular sunscreen may be harsh for your face. I use " super goop super screen. I want to enjoy the sun without the wrinkles and sun damage.
From my previous trip- definitely need a portable beach bag to take everywhere- SUN PROTECTIVE CLOTHING specially when snorkeling and caps anything that protects your head from the sun.
We were going to hike into Pololu Valley on May 3 but we were warned by local residents that it was to slippy and that the stream had become a river, so we just enjoyed the view and talked story with them. Great people. And I love Tevas and have been using them for decades, but they aren't for all hikes. I recommend boots for hiking into Haleakala.
Because of the humidity, I always pack various size zip lock bags to keep snacks from become soggy..and for wet suits, etc. We use reusable straws to help ecology.
thanks for watching till the end. Erica is crushing me with the cubes but it has made our recent trip a lot easier. Thanks for watching and hope you can return soon.
I always pack my waterproof phone pouch. Its perfect for taking pictures in the water or even just using by the pool and not having to dry my hands before touching it.
Mahalo for watching! Let us know what you love to pack for your Hawaii vacation in the comments below! Now that you know what to pack, figure out what to do and where to eat with our Hawaiian Islands itineraries: thehawaiivacationguide.com/itineraries
Thank you for the always excellent content. Yes, on packing cubes! I bought a Caribbean Teal set for my wonderful wife and basic black for her cave man spouse. She rolled her eyes at my self funded travel accessories and now loves her teal packing cubes.
Only suggestion is to not pack the sunscreen. Save the space in your bag and buy it in Hawaii. You can easily do 7-10 days in HI with a carry-on suitcase, but bringing sunscreen will force you to check it (and depending on the airline for a fee unless you have status). Save space and money, buy it there. But 100% gotta be reef safe.
Thank you 2 for these awesome vlogs, i have learned alot from you! I like to unpack my luggage right away once i return home as well, then i don't have to do it later or keep looking at it.
I'd like to pack a soft fabric duffel bag. It folds up easily and it held several beach towels plus snorkel gear. Also have a really small first aid kit that I would throw in the duffel bag. Aloha!
Thanks so much for the great tips. I'm with you Erica acking cubes are amazing to keep like items together so I can find things easier! Great video, so excited for my first trip to Hawaii!
Okay, you two are absolutely adorable. The information you provide is so well thought out and executed. We pick up something different from each article or video. Love the playlist idea from this video. I did get a giggle out of 'I'm going to call my mother'. Oh, Jordan... LOL
Things I like to have with me in Hawaii are a small pair of binoculars, a couple of long sleeve rash guards and Da Bus app on my phone. You can go from Waikiki to the Arizona Memorial for about $6.00 round trip, per person.
I’m a big fan of the Olukai shoes. The Nohea Moku boat shoes are great for the beach and for hiking. They dry really fast and they work at the beach and in restaurants. You can slip them on and off really quickly. I think they are a good alternative to the tevas
Back in the early 90's we visited the Islands as a family. My mom packed a huge cooler full of food (milk, veggies, etc.) so she could cook our meals and checked it on the airplane for us to take. I'm not sure that's allowed today but it was a smart idea since food is so expensive in Hawaii and for large families it's not always economical to eat out for every meal.
The trick is to shop local/small. Get fruits and veggies (and eggs!) from the Farmer's Market and noodles from "international" markets. Look for roadside stands selling fruit. Lucerne and Meadow Gold for dairy. Depending on the island, making meals at your rental will save big $$. Except on Maui!! Food Trucks and Local Restaurants are amazing!
Can't go to Hawai'i without my oversize straw hat! Also, wanted to double down on the polarized sun glasses. When the sun shining really brightly, the polarized sunglasses let you see the world in vivid colors.
I have on my Hawaii list : tshirts! Because I always tend to pack way too summery clothes like only tanktops. And I often get too chilly. I know it sounds silly because Hawaii has the best weather in the world. And yes!!!! I LOVE packing cubes!! Everything nice and organized ánd comoact 👍🏻👍🏻🤙🏻
I always bring an umbrella, not for the rain but for a sun shield. It's a trick I picked up living in Denver. That way I can hang out near the beach without overheating.
A pareo - great swim suit cover-up that can also provide appropriate coverage for indoor dining off the beach or use as an emergency beach towel. And - unlike the mainland, slippers (flip flops) are appropriate just about everywhere - no need to pack a huge variety of shoes/sandals.
Amazing videos! My wife and I will heading to Oahu in November for our honeymoon! Your channel has been incredibly helpful and we will definitely purchase your itinerary! Would you recommend water shoes?
It is nice to bring at least one fabulous outfit or resort wear for going out. We don’t love water shoes as the beaches are sandy. They make walking on the reef too tempting
Dri Fit shorts, packable waterproof beach blanket also super lightweight. If you have tendencies to be out all day packable insulated cooler for snacks. All items squish and take up very little suitcase space. Invest in your own snorkel gear if you are a water lover takes up a lot of suitcase real-estate but worth it.
Will definitely add these items to my packing list. Never had Tevas but, feel I can substitute them for beach flip flops and then use then for hiking or even around town. Wouldn't have considered bug spray but will now. Thanks for these great tips!
Listen to some good Hawaiian music to relax before the trip. Remember since covid many places are short staffed and doing their best. For Kauai, bring bug spray. Also brought if for the farm tours on the Big Island. Natural ones don't work well for me so I need deet.
Yes! Yes! Yes! to packing cubes! Organization and compression ~ you can fit so much more when you compress your clothes! Question about hiking: I was planning on packing my hiking shoes (sneaker-type, not boot) but I was so surprised when you said NO shoes...just Tevas! That would make packing life so much easier but I'm really concerned about injury while hiking in just a sandal! I have multiple pairs of GOODR sunglasses - easily the best shades deal on the planet! Such a *GREAT* product without breaking the bank! I love your newsletters and videos. Thanks so so much for your advice! We'll be making our first ever trip out to Oahu in Oct! *very*very*very* excited.
Kay, I wish I would have brought my sneakers if not hikers. The BlowHole walk/climb is steep Rocks down and Rocks up. A couple of Haleakala hikes are just Rocks. Sneakers are a must.(I think E&J slip in a sneakers recommendation somewhere) mahalo
Just came home from Oahu! Warm clothes, water shoes (lava rocks under water), sun glasses, hat, backpack, reusable water bottle, your own metal fork, heavy duty sandals, zinc sun block, swim suits that cover shoulders and back. If fair skinned swim 8 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 8 pm.
Packing or buying plenty of sunscreen is paramount. Hawaii has a high UV index all year round because of it's proximity to the equator. Even if you're used to travelling in places like southern Spain or Morocco, you will get sunburnt if you're not applying it regularly.
If you have a travel set and plan to go a lot, bring it. The islands have good rental places too that are convenient. We share our set here thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaii-travel-gear/
I was surprised by the cool nights in Oahu but the constant breeze made it even cooler. I’d suggest buying a hoodie or jacket from Hawaii instead of packing one. That way you get a souvenir and something to keep you warm at night if it gets too cool for you.

8. Stream2Sea leave-in conditioner, slapping some into your hair even if you can't rinse the salt out with help loads if your hair dries wild and tangly.

10. A sunhat, preferably with a strap in case it gets windy or you are wearing on a boat
11. A mosquito bite prevention product, either in a small easy to carry tube, or in wipe form. Keep in sling back front pocket.
12. Cut pieces of moleskin for spots where your shoes start to rub your feet raw on hikes. Keep in your sling bag front pocket
13. Dramamine for boat tours

I absolutely HIGHLY RECOMMEND touring Pearl Harbor it is LIFE CHANGING!
Thanks so much!
Can’t live without packing cubes!!!
We bought reef safe sunscreens, and they were awesome. But our water shirts were game changers. We needed so much less sunscreen and could wear them in and out of the water as we walked around town or hiked too, which meant less shirts needed overall and less sunburn!
Great point, all purpose shirts
Packing cubes are must!!! I unpack my suitcase into the drawers with clothing still in the cubes and it makes it a breeze to repack when it's time to leave. I’m starting to be persuaded. I did just take out the kids cubes and throw them in the drawers. Thanks for sharing the other packing items!
Hydro towels are a must! They fold up small, lightweight and dry quickly. They fit nicely for a waterfall hike, beach outing and island hopping.
I always bring a float-especially when I stay in Oahu bc there are so many fun, calm places to float. I pass it off to another vacationer when I leave and use that space to pack my souvenirs.
Thanks for sharing!
Wow! thanks so much for watching and leaving the comment. It does feel overwhelming, we get it
We bring several water bottles, our own snorkel gear that we know is good quality and fits us well, our own beach towels in case wherever we’re saying does not have them, windbreakers, our own beach and shopping bags and our own mineral sunscreen.
Wow, those are great tips. My dad always loses his sunglasses in the ocean. First, he shouldn’t turn his back on the ocean and second he needs straps!
Thanks for sharing!
We do that too, but I think on our next trip we might try to rent a more substantive cooler. I hear boss frogs does it cheaply.
That’s a good one. Especially needed for Kauai.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Headed for a two weeks on Kauai in August with my Columbia windbreaker!😉
Love the tip about bringing a rash guard. I always bring my LONG-SLEEVED one, reducing even further the amount of sunscreen I need.
thanks for sharing!! reduce that amount of sunscreen needed!
Pearl Harbor and Punch Bowl are my dream destinations, these are great tips for my planning
I like packing cubes too, Erica! Thank you for these tips and what a fun thing to offer - a Spotify Hawaiian playlist! I'm going there right now. 🥳
Packing cubes are the BEST!
Yes, I use packing cubs. Everything is organized. What I absolutely bring to Maui is my snorkel gear (prescription mask) & breathing tube, swim wear, shorts, tanks and 1 sweater for cooler evenings and my travel outfit. I lived in my swim wear. 🌴😎
Another point for Erica and the packing cubes. Thanks for sharing. Agreed, we live in our suites.
Water socks that fit under snorkel fins! Saves me from blisters and cuts. Also, a good loofah for scrubbing off that stubborn mineral sunscreen.
So it sounds a bit weird but water shoes are my favorite hiking shoe. They’re great. Wore them hiking in the redwood forest as well as rocky hikes. No water needed. They’ve got such good traction and breathable. If you happen to run across a stream, well you’re covered for that too.
Agree. I tried tropicfeel jungle shoes for first time and that was all I needed on BI. Made from recyclable bottles and worth it.
This was super helpful thank you! I will be going to Maui in December for the first time ever with our 18 month old! I am beyond excited
Have a wonderful trip!!!
You will love it and their guide is a must if you’re traveling with kids. Best money I’ve ever spent. I’m always stuck packing my kid and my self, planning trip, gathering documents, planning outings and meals. Their guide freed me from so much planning. So grateful to have found this channel.
A sarong can be a wrap skirt, a cover up, a light blanket, a towel, or something to sit on.
A great tip
Well you’ve pretty much covered it! A water bottle ,reef safe sunscreen, reusable bags, and I like to bring a light weight wrap. Something in a light fabric that can keep you warm on the plane and that you can use as a skirt or a towel when you need to.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. Packing light means multi purpose clothing.
A hefty budget would be a good must have item too. .
Playlist on Spotify?? That’s exactly what I was looking for! Woo hoo! Thanks man! !!!
Love my packing cubes!!!!💙💙
Jordan lost this argument! thanks for watching till the end!
Great video! I love packing cubes too. I also pack for my kids and find it so much easier to unpack when we get to our destination. Just put the cubes in drawers and you’re done! 😊
Jordan has come around to packing cubes for just that reason. They are excellent for kids clothes and to keep them organized.
I love the aloha bags. They are made with tyvek and are splash proof. I use the tote for the beach/shopping, etc and a smaller zipped pouch as a purse a lot of the time.
Aloha Collection are great beach bags and everything else!
Must have packing cubes. I love packing ❤
I’m going for the first time to Hawaii all the way from Washington state in 8 days from now and I’m turning 30 soon. Always day dreamed about it. Thanks for your helpful videos!
Happy birthday and congrats on the trip! I'm glad you found our channel. Have a wonderful time!
Without a doubt, the best RUclips channel for planning a Hawaii vacation. Keep up the great work! The wife and I can’t wait to visit Maui!
thanks so much Mike! have a great trip to Maui!
😂. Seriously? Couple of lame tourists giving other tourists lame tourist advice.. why don't you try actually getting some information and true knowledge. Maybe talk to someone who's lived here all their life and knows about the ocean and the land.. this is why RUclips is lame and Bs and sucks..
🤣
Keen hiking sandals were my preferred.
We like to pack Camelback water backpacks because we hike a lot. They take up space, but make hiking days so much easier.
True that. I always used mine when I lived and hiked all over Oahu.
Loved the Aviation museum. Loved the Bob Hope exhibit
I like packing cubes! Especially to keep things organized on the trip as well as saving space. Also something I liked bringing to Hawaii was the waterproof phone pouches for boat rides or potentially wet hikes. Definitely not a necessity but kinda nice to have.
another point for Erica and packing cubes. Thanks for sharing!
I feel so dumb - what are these cubes you are referring to?
Always practical and helpful, thank you. Packing cubes are the best and if you roll your clothes before putting them in a cube, you can fit a lot into one cube. They are space saving, organizational must haves.
I love packing cubes! I pull the cube out of my suite case and place it in the drawer. Bring a hat. Make sure you bring a moisturizing sunscreen for face and neck. Regular sunscreen may be harsh for your face. I use " super goop super screen. I want to enjoy the sun without the wrinkles and sun damage.
Thank you for your informative videos. I am visiting soon for first time and am learning so much
See our first time visiting video or check out start here on our website!
I love Goodr sunglasses!
Just planing a hawaii vacation for the first time. It's a lot of beautiful choices trying to pick 3 islands. Enjoying your tips!
Thank you!!! I’m literally packing right now, this is perfect! 😍😍😍😍
Perfect timing! Thanks for watching
Can't wait to listen to the Spotify playlist!
True! Every time I check the weather it’s always cold or raining which is very misleading
From my previous trip- definitely need a portable beach bag to take everywhere- SUN PROTECTIVE CLOTHING specially when snorkeling and caps anything that protects your head from the sun.
Thanks for all the tips! My wife and I had a blast on the Big Island. Your Spotify playlist was great! "On the Island, we do it Island Style"
Thanks for listening! It’s fun to curate the list. Hope you can come back soon.
Packing cubes changed my life!!!
Erica loves your comment. For me, no one has agreed with my stance on the cubes. I lost that battle.
I looooove packing cubes
Beautiful happy family always the best smiles .This couple does an amazing job. I’ll be in Maui in August.
Hawaiian islands 🏝 very beautiful to visit for vacation. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
That’s really good list, especially the sunscreen it’s really easy to get sunburned even when the sun‘s not shiny
Because of the humidity, I always pack various size zip lock bags to keep snacks from become soggy..and for wet suits, etc. We use reusable straws to help ecology.
Thank you for the tips! We plan on checking out the aviation museum. Love your channel
Enjoy the aviation museum! we are hoping to go visit it soon as they received new planes
Such great videos . Agree with warm clothes
Travel cubes rock, we don’t go anywhere without them! Love your channel even though I have no idea when we’ll return to the islands. I love to dream!
thanks for watching till the end. Erica is crushing me with the cubes but it has made our recent trip a lot easier. Thanks for watching and hope you can return soon.
Great advice Jordan and Erika 😊
Can’t wait for our July trip, first time since 2018; thanks for the helpful videos!
I always pack my waterproof phone pouch. Its perfect for taking pictures in the water or even just using by the pool and not having to dry my hands before touching it.
Link?
Love watching your videos. They're informative and fun. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching Elise! Mahalo
Love this! You guys r doing awesome traveling w the keiki! I love the dry quick towels too!
Mahalo Gina!
Wife and I are going in Sept. 35th anniversary and her birthday. Thanks for the information.
Mahalo for watching! Let us know what you love to pack for your Hawaii vacation in the comments below! Now that you know what to pack, figure out what to do and where to eat with our Hawaiian Islands itineraries: thehawaiivacationguide.com/itineraries
Don't forget to periodically launder those fabric beach bags, please.
YES i LOVE packing cubes too! I have been using them for decades don’t travel without them! Go Erica ❤
Erica won that debate! thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the always excellent content.
Yes, on packing cubes!
I bought a Caribbean Teal set for my wonderful wife and basic black for her cave man spouse.
She rolled her eyes at my self funded travel accessories and now loves her teal packing cubes.
Thanks for watching till the end! I’ve been swayed to the cubes.
Most weather apps can provide more local weather. Be sure to check the actual city you’ll be staying in. Each city can vary wildly.
Great video as always!! Your sweet mother is here waiting for your call! 😂😍
I love you!!😘
Thank you 2 for these awesome vlogs, i have learned alot from you! I like to unpack my luggage right away once i return home as well, then i don't have to do it later or keep looking at it.
I'm glad I'm not alone on the unpacking immediately!
I'd like to pack a soft fabric duffel bag. It folds up easily and it held several beach towels plus snorkel gear. Also have a really small first aid kit that I would throw in the duffel bag. Aloha!
thanks for sharing the tip!
Thanks so much for the great tips. I'm with you Erica acking cubes are amazing to keep like items together so I can find things easier! Great video, so excited for my first trip to Hawaii!
thanks for watching till the end! Erica won that fight and I'm a convert to cubes now that we have kids.
I do use pc too! Is a good choice...love the suggestions, u guys rock!
Erica clearly won this round! Thanks for watching!
Okay, you two are absolutely adorable. The information you provide is so well thought out and executed. We pick up something different from each article or video. Love the playlist idea from this video. I did get a giggle out of 'I'm going to call my mother'. Oh, Jordan... LOL
Thanks for watching and the comment. We give that playlist a lot of run time at home. Mahalo!!
Love you guys’ synergy 👍🏽
Things I like to have with me in Hawaii are a small pair of binoculars, a couple of long sleeve rash guards and Da Bus app on my phone. You can go from Waikiki to the Arizona Memorial for about $6.00 round trip, per person.
Gotta say the last bit was the best 😋
just an honest discussion. I'm glad you stayed till the end.
I’m a big fan of the Olukai shoes. The Nohea Moku boat shoes are great for the beach and for hiking. They dry really fast and they work at the beach and in restaurants. You can slip them on and off really quickly. I think they are a good alternative to the tevas
Those sound great. Thanks for sharing!
Best video production! Thanks for the tips.
Is it possible to buy Tevaas sandals on the Big Island?
I would assume so, they have a good selection of stores in Kailua-Kona.
Sun shirt and a good hat! We pick up the reef safe sunscreen when we get there... :)
We are headed to Maui in May of this year. My wife and I really enjoy your informative videos. What about binoculars?? Are they worth bringing?
Thanks for watching! During whale season I would bring them but not in May.
I always bring an umbrella, not for the rain but for a sun shield. It's a trick I picked up living in Denver. That way I can hang out near the beach without overheating.
thanks for sharing!
A pareo - great swim suit cover-up that can also provide appropriate coverage for indoor dining off the beach or use as an emergency beach towel. And - unlike the mainland, slippers (flip flops) are appropriate just about everywhere - no need to pack a huge variety of shoes/sandals.
Heading to Maui next week! All great advice, thanks for the informative video!
Thanks for watching and the comment. Have a great trip!
Amazing videos! My wife and I will heading to Oahu in November for our honeymoon! Your channel has been incredibly helpful and we will definitely purchase your itinerary! Would you recommend water shoes?
Also do you recommend formal clothings if we decide to eat out or is it still appropriate to wear beach wear?
It is nice to bring at least one fabulous outfit or resort wear for going out. We don’t love water shoes as the beaches are sandy. They make walking on the reef too tempting
Dri Fit shorts, packable waterproof beach blanket also super lightweight. If you have tendencies to be out all day packable insulated cooler for snacks. All items squish and take up very little suitcase space. Invest in your own snorkel gear if you are a water lover takes up a lot of suitcase real-estate but worth it.
Thanks for sharing!
Going island hopping in three months, thanks!
have a fun trip exploring the islands!
I use packing cubes all the time!!!
I’m losing this packing cube argument!
Will definitely add these items to my packing list. Never had Tevas but, feel I can substitute them for beach flip flops and then use then for hiking or even around town. Wouldn't have considered bug spray but will now. Thanks for these great tips!
thanks for watching! have a great trip
Love the Playlist!
Thanks for listening to it!
Definitely will check out some of those places when my girlfriend and I go already got the flights and hotel paid for.
Sneakers are a must.(I think E&J slip in a sneakers recommendation somewhere) mahalo
wow thanks for the tips.
thanks for watching!
Do you recommend bringing snorkel gear or renting when you get there?
If you have a travel set and plan to go a lot, bring it. The islands have good rental places too that are convenient. We share our set here thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaii-travel-gear/
