Paul Rudalavage from Synergy Electrical Sales gives an overview of wired motion sensors. Great for basic wiring understanding, function, and troubleshooting.
It could be a few things. I would make sure the manufacturer of the motion sensor and powerpack are the same company. Then follow their instructions. Some sensors have a vacancy setting which means you need to have a switch to turn the lights on.
Paul, it would be really nice not to introduce the possibility of series sensors, multiple wire sensors in the same video. Do those separately in another video. For beginners, this confuses the issue
I’m in a commercial building and there are 2 of these motion sensor in a suite. There lights have been on for 2 weeks now. They won’t shut off. What’s the troubleshoot? Thanks
HI Trevor. I have another video that shows troubleshooting. Since you have two motion sensors in one room, you will need to put them both in "test mode" at the same time to check if they shut the lights off. Also, as a general rule, the sensors should be at least 6 feet away from a hvac register.
Thanks for this. Is the "feed", a switch leg or from your home run? The instructions that come with these units show NEUTRAL switching not hot leg switching.
The powerpack is the switch. The powerpack needs constant hot which is the black wire. You connect one red to the black which becomes the line side of the switch. The other red becomes the load side of the switch. You do not switch the neutral.
No. This is a 24 volt sensor. The powerpack provides the 24 volts and turns the 120 on and off. They do make sensors that do not require a powerpack, but that is not what i am showing here.
You should do a troubleshooting video on these cause. They never work right 75 percent of the time and the info online for troubleshooting is of no help
The ultrasonic senses motion by putting out sound waves and then checking how they return to the sensor. If the wave is disturbed upon return, then the sensor knows there is someone in the room disturbing the sound waves.

Russ thanks for the tip. I will add the videos you suggested. Let me know what you think when i upload them.
Es cable comun es el neutro?
Thanks for this video.

Thank you very helpful
So for the low voltage side. I connect the blue and black together. And the red to the red ?
Black to black for common. Red to red for 24 volts. Blue to Blue for signal wire.

Will the sencor work with out the power pak

Why when I up the lights up to the motion sensor the lights don’t come on but everything is wired correctly

Thank you and I will add that video. Please subscribe and let me know if it is helpful
What does ultrasonic sensor do?

Ese cable comun es cual? El neutro ?
Hay bajo voltaje- 3 cables. Negro (común) Rojo (24 voltios) Azul (señal). El sensor necesita los 3. I used google translate from english.
Necesito un traductor al español estoy montando uno de eso y no me da la señal
Can any of these motion switches be wired straight to the line voltage?
Those are available but the one i am showing uses a powerpack
Good
Replace with switches
