All the experts, including one of the best, Stuart Jay Raj, say that you should learn how to read before speaking, but I learned Thai through phonetics, and from all accounts, my pronunciation is very good. What really made me doubt the experts is when I joined a class where people who could read Thai were mispronouncing words and tones while reading, which I thought would be impossible to do, because they were directly reading Thai text. I am now not sure of what the difference would be between phonetics (if you basically use one method) and reading the Thai text directly.
Learning a foreign language is challenging and requires a lot of patience. I'm trying to learn to speak Burmese because there are a lot of Burmese people in my neighborhood. But it's still not fluent at all. I really respect you guys.

ไม่ต่างกันครับ เวลาชาติที่มีภาษาของตัวเองแล้วเจอต่างชาติพูดภาษาตัวเองได้ เจ้าของภาษาก็ชอบอยู่แล้วเกือบทุกประเทศนั้นแหละ กึ่งๆเป็นการให้เกียรติประเทศที่พวกเค้าอาศัยอยู่

I've learned to speak lots of thai. I'm very proud of myself. Jing jing loy. Pben kon ungrit ❤
ขอบคุณนะคะที่พยายามเรียนภาษาไทย ขนาดเจ้าของภาษาอย่างเราๆยังจะใช้ภาษาผิดๆถูกๆเลยค่ะ

Your guys is awesome....
พูดไม่ต้องชัด ฟังพอรู้เรื่อง คนไทยก็ชมว่าคุณเก่ง
การหัวเราะของคนไทยไม่ใช่เย้ยหยันแต่เขามองว่าคุณน่ารักค่ะ

Learning a foreign language is challenging and requires a lot of patience.
I'm trying to learn to speak Burmese because there are a lot of Burmese people in my neighborhood. But it's still not fluent at all. I really respect you guys.
Mingalaba! I can also speak a bit of Burmese. But not as good as Thai. But I lived in Yangon for 2 years.
