Good work Chris. Hey, the interference from the various wires connected might be from various power sources (wall outlets) with different grounds. You will notice that running your cameras and microphones on batteries will lessen or stop it, then slowly test plugging items in one by one to see the major cause. But I think I will buy this mic. Good review.
Hi Otto, can you help me decide? I ordered a Hollyland Lark Max Wireless Lavalier Microphone System and it was taking an eternity to get here so I ordered the Comica VM30 Shotgun Microphone too, in case the Hollyland was a no show. I'm a total novice and can't figure out why the Hollyland is $100 more than the Comica. As a beginner who won't need a lot of features to record talking-head videos, I've tested both and they seem to have about the same sound quality. The Comica might even sound a bit better. There's often background noise where I'm recording so good noise cancellation is important. Do you think the Comica will do just as well as the more expensive alternative, with my basic needs? Thanks in advance for taking time to reply!
Hello Carolyn, thanks for reaching out to me. Wireless mics like the Hollyland that have to transmitters are going to be a bit more expensive than having just 1 transmitter. For a beginner I would use the Comica microphone because it can be used wired, and I prefer to use a wired microphone if the conditions allow it just because they are more reliable. Wireless microphones sometimes have issues so I only use them when it's needed. Some wireless microphones now offer local recording as a backup (If the wireless signal fails you will still have a backup on the transmitter) but I don't think this Hollyland has this feature. Another thing that you should take into account is convinience. Depending on your specific case, a shotgun microphone might not be so convenient and having a tiny mic is better. I like the sound of a shotgun mic for talking heads, I've had a few ones around the Comica's price point and this one is the one I still use. I use it wired to my camera, and sometimes when I'm out I will use it wireless, unless I need something portable and discrete, in which case I prefer using the DJI Mic. Hope this helps, be safe.
Wow @@OttoJulian_ you're fast on your replies! :-) According to the specs for Hollyland "Each transmitter has an 8GB, 14 hours duration internal audio recording, recording epic sound quality in uncompressed and lossless wav files" so I guess there's extra safety in that. But I'm just doing shorts and reels at this stage so no worries about losing long content audio files. As much as I love bells and whistles, I'm inclined to take your suggestion, keep the Comica and return the Hollyland. I can use the money I save to buy better lighting!
I would say no, the first time I tried this was to record a talking head for a RUclips video, no issues at all otherwise I would have snapped in anger haha. But that was wired. When I tested the wireless mode it was raining but no hissing. Try to lower the volume of the mic to around 4-5. I also did lower my A7IV's pre amp to 5 (cameras usually don't have very good pre-amp)

You are a nice man. You have a great personality, inviting, calm, and explain things very clear and easy to follow. Awesome review. God bless bro💪🏿
Thank you so much for your kind feedback!
Thanks for using the VM30 right from the beginning. Most reviewers only give audio quality right at the end which is useless.
You are welcome!!
Good work Chris.

But I think I will buy this mic. Good review.
Thanks for the tip!

Did you have crazy hissing/white noise on yours at first?

@@OttoJulian_ Thank you for the response. If I already tried the above with my Sony A7 iii is there anything else I can try?
Brilliant✨
