The theory is Yue was supposed to be the Avatar after Aang. That’s why she was born an empty vessel and her parents had to have the Moon spirit give her life. But because Aang was frozen that couldn’t happen.

    • @Seetiyan
      @Seetiyan Год назад +20

@@Josephryker Non-sensical theory. Aang would've have to have died. But if he hadn't been frozen, when would he have died? Could've been at ANY point. The Fire Nation could've killed him in their initial attack, 84 years before Yue was born. Or during later battles, while he struggled without any support to learn the other elements. Or he could've died of old age in his 80's 20 years before she was born, or in his 100's after she was born. There's no "supposed to" here, otherwise it would've simply happened.

Korra is basically if someone like Zuko was the Avatar. Aang was the complete opposite: calm and while immature completely connected to his past lives. And because the more physically demanding bending elements came easy to Korra, it makes sense that someone of her temperament couldn't quickly grasp airbending or connecting with the spirits.

Aang wasn't really driven. He actively ran away from being Avatar. The real difference is that Aang was given freedom to explore and had someone who believed in his skills whereas Korra doesn't.
Dhe was forced into solitude, she didn't get to choose her bending Masters or travel the world, and the people who are supposed to be closest to her constantly undermine her for their own reasons. And they won't even tell her what the reasons are.
Even with Mako, the way he interacts with Korra is in his self interest. She vents and he gives an opinion she didn't necessarily ask for. She directly asks him for advice and he side steps. Her dad is an impediment and Mako tries to step in as her dad's proxy when she's making it clear that's not what she needs.

True that but it's still very real.
Korra never had a friend, let alone any romatic relationship until this point, she's crealy clueless about how a relationship works.
Now when it comes to Tenzin, Even though she crearly needs airbending training, spirits are kill*ng people and attacking ships, how she as the avatar Will be just like "that doesn't matter, let's go to the tamples and ignore all the damage spirits are making" 💀 it's her job to do something and Tenzin was hiding that from her and just want to take her traveling.
And Tonrak, when korra wanted to listen he wouldn't Say anything. And when he actually spoke it was just to tell her he and Tenzin decided to lock her up without Even telling her why and that he caused damages his people. Tonrak only Warned her not to go to the forest bc it was dangerous for her, and that's it, while Unalaq, the one that Made Tenzin and Tonrak look useless againts the Spirits, the one that is spirit Master and that has a Lot of knowledge about what's going is guiding her. I'd be fooled by him as well, Unalaq it's just so good at manipulating.

Seeing Tarloq as a young General defending his tribe, kinda makes me want to see like 20 year old Sokka leading the southern hunters. Did any of the Waterbenders from the North relocate to help repopulate the South's Waterbenders. Or was Katara the only one for years until her daughter was born?? We know that at least SOME Waterbenders must have moved to help build up Republic City because there are Waterbenders in the Pro league AND Waterbenders on the council AND in the triple Threat Triad Gang - that's the whole identity of their Gang name. triple Threat: Water, Fire and Earth so we know that Some Waterbenders will move around. But seeing Sokka and possible Suki as Generals?? That's dope.

One thing I've noticed is Korra at this point has a very shallow view of what it means to be the Avatar. Like a child who thinks being a superhero means saving the world from evil. There's so much more to the job and unfortunately she hasn't been talking to the people who know best, her past lives. So instead she's doubles down on the physicallity and is getting equally as shallow and bad 2nd hand advice. This is something she has to feel out for herself. Unfortunately, there's always one facet to The Avatar's personality that is their own worst enemy. I don't dislike Korra as a character, but her brash impulsivity causes way more problems than it solves and in these coming episodes my exhaustion with her reaches it's peak. I wish I could sympathize more with her but I'm about as far removed from Korra in personality as you can get; my brain simply does not run on that wavelength so I cannot relate to her really...🤷‍♀️

Knowing that if you LET them escape they WILL be back to butcher MORE of your people?? This wasn't an "IF they return" scenario. Tarloq KNEW that they would. By NOT chasing them it would just give them an advantage that they could exploit later on. If you are a terrorist or barbarian and you KNOW your victims WILL NOT attack on holy ground then Holy ground is where you do your vilest actions, because you KNOW there will be no retaliation. There's a line in a movie that I remember hearing (I think it was from Catfish) where someone says: "in order to prevent terrorism we have to make it as unappealing as possible.

You know those kinds of people who are left out of the loop about a certain subject and make it seem like EVERYONE was lying to her out of spite??
Let's say for example that you are married and someone you know confides a secret to you. Then later on your spouse finds out and accuses you of lying this whole time for NOT gossiping about that other person. The point is that if that person WANTED your spouse to know THEY would have told them. You CANNOT be pissed at someone for keeping a secret that is by rights NOT their secret to share. Tarloq having been banished has literally NOTHING to do with HER. she quite frankly has NO RIGHT to be informed of that event.
It's like how Papparazzi and reporters used to claim, "The people have a right to know!!" Well no; they don't. It doesn't concern them. tarloq beeing banished doesn't in any way whatsoever change anything in Korra's life. He's still her father, he still loves her and he still has his own personal issues with HIS brother. Knowing any of this would not have changed Korra's life in the slightest. If there were a multiverse in where Korra was aware of what happened, NOTHING would be different. Unaloq would still have showed up, Korra would STILL have gone to learn from him. So her entitled "You should have told me!" is just selfish. She's showing that she really only cares when SHE wants to.
Ah....Okay I'm done now. 'cause I can Hate on Korra all day every day. and despite how it appears, I don't like getting worked up and hating on shit. So Imma go have a Snickers and an Oh Henry and cool off; maybe even a Kit kat....OOOOH some Caramilk chucks Ice cream sound even better. Yep yep.

I mean, she's the Avatar. She's supposed to be bridge between the human world and the spirit world. If her father is one of the people directly responsible for the spirit attacks happening, then she, as the Avatar, who's job it is to maintain balance and order between the two realms, should know.

although I agree that Unaloq is a very bland Villain, I 100% agree with his telling Korra that he wan't training her to "fight spirits," but to help her open herself up to her spiritual side. It's THIS mentality more than anything for my Korra-bashing. It's like the writers of THIS series watched an abridged version of Avatar The last Airbender and decided it NEEDED to "be better." Just like how Disney is always "fixing" their classics for modern audiences. But what's worse is that they actually DO understand what bending is supposed to be and just decide that Korra is a super girl-boss so she doesn't need to connect spiritually because she's naturally talented "just because." The line of her utterly ignoring her spiritual side from the pilot episode is so spot on, such a perfect example of WHY Korra is a trash Avatar. she literally believes herself to BE better than everyone. Saying stupid ass things like "Maybe I don't even NEED Airbending, did you ever think of that??" just shows how the writers want Korra to be a bad ass girl boss just because she's a girl.

It really does depend on which thing you watch first. I saw LoK before ATLA, and I found ATLA insanely boring and childish for the first two seasons or so, especially bad in season 1. There was just so much throwaway wasted time, and I had such a hard time connecting to the incongruity of these kids sometimes acting like full ass adults and sometimes acting like kids half their age. Korra was way easier for me to relate to.
So I hear these reactions and read the comments and I'm jut like, Jesus, people remember ATLA with such rose-colored glasses.
Then I remember I had to restart it like six times because I kept falling asleep from boredom and disinterest, to say nothing of the jank ass animation and terrible voice acting. Zuko's voice is still like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Obviously, this is an unpopular opinion. But it just comes down to the second series I watched didn't live up to the shadow of the first series I watched, even with all of its goofiness. Without a point of comparison, I just fell in love with Korra and I felt like her struggles with establishing her identity were so interesting.

Korra's outrage at her father being banished is yet another example of her having been enabled leading to her sense of entitlement. While 50% of the faut for Korra being enabled is NOT hers, the 50% that IS hers is incredibly ridiculous. what I see in Korra is her being utterly humiliated that she CAN'T Airbend right away so she actively overcompensates for it.

She had every right to be upset at her father. I would be just as mad at my dad if I found out he locked up in a compound all my life and lied to me about his past. 100% justified and he admits it himself.
Korra is the outcome of her mentors and environment. Locking her up and not letting her travel the world and learn who she was outside the Avatar stunted her spiritual and emotional growth. Even aang before the war was traveling the world. He had all this freedom and Korra had none. Seeing this whole world unfold before her now and realizing it was hidden from her must have felt like betrayal.

@@Vladoominator He admits it because that's what the writers want. They want you kn Korra's side in every matter. But you saying yo'd be upset if you found out about your parents past that happened before you were even born....well that make you entitled. Thinking you have a RIGHT to know something that has NOTHING to do with you is entitlement. Angry for being sheltered... okay that one gets a TINY LITTLE sympathy, but just a little; did being locked away HARM Korra in any way??? No. Did she STILL learn all the Bending she needed?? YES. Besides the fact that there is a perfectly GOOD reason for keeping her hidden AND for not telling her. Telling her, WOULD have harmed her.

You're straight up ignoring parts of my comments to make your points. I'm saying locking her up was harmful for her spiritually and emotionally. Just because she still learned all the bending doesn't excuse that. And anything we know of why they did does not exist at this point in the show. And I still don't agree they did the right thing even knowing that.
