At some point in time keyboards didn't have Arabic letters.
So Arabs had to improvise. Some of the letters in the Arabic language don't have parallels in the English alphabet.
Thus,
7= hard H
3= it's hard to explain this one, but it's like a hard A (comes from the throat)
9= hard S
4 = "TH" but harder
6 = hard T
And so on and so forth. Now it's less common to use numbers to write Arabic with English letters, but it's well known.
It's less common in general, because we have Arabic keyboards. If it wasn't obvious 😅
Numbers are widely used in many countries to replace letters before localized lauout keyboards became a thing. Same shit was happening in the Balkans too, nothing special.

Well, to most non English speakers it's probably not. But I can imagine many native English speakers finding it perplexing, as we saw with jay3👍🏻

As a french man, I feel our team performed as expected. We never had a top tier team, but on the opposite, we always had a decent team. But this year, this group was too much for us. Despite the games against Japan where they were playing pretty bad against a good japanese team. SA and the USA were a step above us. SA especially is probably the real dark horse in this competition. I'm still proud of the boys ! And congrats to other teams as well !

4:05 will basically because most games back in the day either didn't support Arabic or wrote Arabic backward and in a bad font It was very hard to read Arabic so the Arabic community decided on using English letters but read in arabic the problem is that we have letters that don't exist in eng like (ح) and (ط) and (ص) so we use letters that look similar to the letter so 7 in place of (ح) 6 in place of (ط) and 9 in place of (ص) also there is 3 in place of (ع) 5 in place of (خ) 8 in place of (ق) and as for 0-1-2-4 will 4 used for (A) so it might be misinterpreted and same with 0 with (O) and 1 with (I) as for number 2 i don't know if it's used but with most unpronaunced letters replaced there is no use for number 2 as far as i know (example for a sentence in arbic being wrote in eng ): al slam 3lekm asmy 3bdalr7man keef 7alk.

Btw it's not officially arabic(the numbers and stuff) but ppl use it cause games and some programs don't support arabic alphabet so we created a way to communicate using ABC+the numbers
We took the numbers that looked like the letters and used it cause there's some letters not in english
