Most people I see who want to be a mangaka is because they want the title of a mangaka and the associated benefits like anime and fame etc they don’t seem to have a genuine love for storytelling and the medium of sequential art, for these people it is all bad news unfortunately as mentioned in most this vid, but for people who genuinely care about making a great product they would do it regardless of how much money or fame they get, if they can’t sustain themselves through comics and manga they’ll work and create manga in spare time, if a major publisher is not willing to publish there work, they will upload it to apps like manga plus. I also want to touch on some incorrect information in this vid, as an student of art I can tell you with absolute certainty that drawing is a skill not “raw talent”, even without a shred of talent you can reach a very high level of drawing ability with correct practice and information, to say that good drawings such as in most manga are a product of raw talent is to discredit the time and work mangaka put in to hone there SKILLL, it also deters people from learning to draw.
