Usually toward the half way point in the show they play an instrumental, 1 or 2 songs where Miku sings lead vocals, and Miku does her Magic Spell Time MC. In the past, this was to give Saiki time to rest her voice. She had vocal cord polyp surgery in 2017. Since then, the band did what was necessary to help Saiki take care of her voice. She doesn't need to do this any longer, but these mid show things have become a tradition in their set list.
Both vocalists have had vocal surgery to correct vocal cord problems. Lead vocalist Saiki in particular was having severe problems. Band-Maid's typically two hour long concerts are physically demanding, and their almost 4 hour long 10th Anniversary tour final was carefully planned to give everyone in the band a rest during regularly planned breaks. They give Saiki a break mid concert by having Kobato sing a "Miku Song" and doing an instrumental to rest her vocal cords. All of the members of Band-Maid figured out early on that health issues play havoc with a business plan and schedule that requires constant practice, touring, and studio time spent productively. It's the work hard, play hard Japanese work ethic has them taking each other's health seriously. While on tour they run, jump rope, play baseball, just to keep active and healthy. Misa plays a Black Cloud 'Black Smoker' 5 string bass. Kanami plays a PRS custom 25-08 with PRS 85/15 pickups. She owns several. PRS recently rewarded her with her own signature model. Miku plays a custom Miku Kobato signature model Zemaitis 'Flappy Pigeon" that Zemaitis designed and built with her input.

The overwhelming lighting effects are only used when they play in Japan. Outside Japan, they have a black backdrop with their logo and use standard stage lighting.
