I, I who don't really fear a lot of things, I am very if not horribly terrified by alzheimer's disease since I heard of what it does to the brain. When it comes to brain diseases I... I simply get horrified by their effects. And if this is true and we can at least slow down a really significant amount of time or diagnose it early enough that it won't be much of a problem to treat it, or even better, CURE IT. I, I would finally rest in peace knowing that at least someone in the world won't suffer from this disease and I may finally stop crying when I remember this disease.
With lots of love and hope, a really, really scared teenager with hopes in medicine.

I too have been terrified by it when I was your age. And with that fear, I made changes to myself and learned how to be more disciplined in my sleeping patterns, eating habits, and training my brain consistently. I learned how to be ambidextrous by writing and doing tasks with my left hand. I started playing chess when I was a teenager, I consciously eat healthy foods, and I started running and joining marathons.
Overtime it'll get less scary, I promise 😊

@@strangerthanfiction2790 I can do all of that myself but sleep will forever be my number 1 enemy as I can't really control it sometimes, but I'm trying, and at least I'm sleeping before 12am now and not at 3am
And funny, I too was practicing to be ambidextrous but I'm a little lazy hahah

I have learned that complex movements are even better for Alzheimers prevention than typical aerobic exercise. Running or cycling is already very good, but it trains the brain much less than, for example, dancing.
We forget all the time that the brain is mostly used to control the body and abstract thinking is more of a recent anomaly. If you want to train your brain, then performing complex new movements might be one of the best ways of doing so.
If you can't move, then complex fast paced video games are also very good. I have read about benefits in spatial cognition, reaction time and visual perception. I don't know if there is any evidence that it can help preventing alzheimers, but it propably won't hurt and is fun.

I remember my own grand mother and m'y father. Both suffered of Alzheimer ( not my mother). In the case of my grand mother, we didn't know much about Alzheimer and nothing was done. However she was able to identify myself till her death, used to act weirdly ( paying with ancient currency, but once able to go for a 20km walk till a garden she has had ...telling fake facts - as journalists do !)
As concerns my father he was given drugs to prevent him from moving or "escaping" and it was horrific. Doctors only wanted to control him and destroyed his brain faster. The brain exercises were humiliating : they treated him as a young child whereas I used to make him read complex books analysing political questions ( he had been a politician and took great interest in), about History ( he was fond of), I let him do calculus ( I'm a maths teacher) and he acheved better than my sister. But I was the only one to do that. It happened 2 times at the hospital they gave him strong drugs and for the first time he was not able to recognize me. He left the hospital ( he repeated : please, let me go out of this place) and after a few Days, he became again able to identify me. But another time, they gave him strong drugs and he never more recognize me. It was horrible. He was able to feel the feelings. But I hate all these doctors who decided to accelerate and worthen the destruction of my father's brain. I don't trust them for anything. Liars. In maths, we only respect truth and confidence

I do train my brain; My working memory for the last 10 years.
I have ADHD, without working memory training I can't focus at all.
My attention has greatly improved and my ability to take in information has improved as well, however, I will say that my brains ability to process the newly gathered information hasn't been dramatically impacted, but overall it has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life.

Hey, i like the video, but the music that starts around 2:30 does not really fit the subject or what you are talking about. The happy upbeat music doesn't fit the tone of the way you are reading the script and the material you are adressing. I am not an expert or anything, but i think a more omminous or dark tone would have done better.

One important correction: not all glial cells are immune cells, only microglia cells, which are like macrophages. And you missed many other risk factors. One of them is the regular consumption of high amounts of alcohol. You can train your brain as much as you want, but if you drink too much it won’t prevent the appearance of Alzheimer’s. As a proof, look at how many actors and actresses have died of Alzheimer’s, although they used their brain all their life to remember texts…

I've read the book titled the end of Alzheimer's, it's a wonderful book. In there the authors explained how there are a likely cooperation between an inflammatory response caused by foods rich in gluten (which raises the permeability of the gut to whole proteins), seed oils which are inflammatory, insulin resistance in brain cells that causes neuron death by starvation, lack of nutrients and heavy metal toxicity. All those environmental factors are present in majority of people's lives nowadays. Based on that, I began to eat healthier: very low polyunsaturated fats, less than 30g of simple carbohydrates per day, high fiber, absolutely no fructose and no gluten. My test results are wonderful: 68 fasting glucose, 2.0 fasting insulin, TGO TGP and Gamma-GT around 15 to 20, c protein is very low. I feel better now than when I was 20 years younger, and my brain works better than as far I can remember. I don't know if I will develop Alzheimer's in the future (my father had it) but it's wonderful to live the present being able to really enjoy it.

@@Dave_of_Mordor We get cancer daily , but usualy our immune system cures it ,if it fails to cure it then it leaves a mark on our body in a form of tumor or a birthmark(skincancer) this we can then cure our selves by giving our body what it needs to cure it.
We but more effort in to saying there is no cure then actually curing someone.
