I really feel like this song is telling a story of some sort… Most of the human population has been wiped out for a long time, let’s say by an alien occupation of Earth or something, only leaving a few sole survivors. (Been a long time comin’ since the world stopped runnin’) Buildings are destroyed and have been deteriorating over time causing them to become dusty/ashy. (Kick up the dust and clear the ash) With no available healthcare, the last bastions of civilisation have to hold out with whatever they have, whilst hiding in these “no light cities” from the occupying aliens, but some are on the verge of death. (Beating hearts hit critical mass) Very little electricity is available, running out day by day. (Moments away from a full system blackout) So then, the last humans that inhabit these “No light cities” attempt to jumpstart civilisation and rid the aliens from Earth by infiltrating alien facilities, sparking a human revolution. This forms a resistance, their motto being “No Light City strikes back”. This is the No Light Paradox.
