I so enjoyed seeing a guy who is so happy doing what he loves to do. As a performer, I really loved his description of the fulfillment you receive when you've connected with an audience. Those moments on stage are absolute magic. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for making this great mini documentary! I love cowboy music, horses, singing to the stars and sleeping close to the earth. I admire Sourdough Slim so much! His voice is incredible!
I had the pleasure of seeing sourdough at the last End of Trail in Norco California. Truly I was mesmerised by this great nostalgic performer. He will definitely keep you smiling!
Sourdough Slim is a true original! Thanks for putting together this fine documentary! As a filmmaker who makes a living at it, I'll say that this was very well shot and edited. I didn't know anything about his personal life or background. I really enjoyed finding out more about him. I didn't know he'd been on the big stages and it is wonderful that he has put out his message and happiness far and wide. I didn't know who the heck he was until seeing him perform at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival last year. As he mentions in the film, he connected.
Thanks for the kind words - I've been following Sourdough for about 11 years now and he still amazes me. He's introduced me to so much great Americana music from the early 20th century that I never heard before. A true, passionate master of his craft - always gives 110% and loves what he does.
I remember him from my college days at CSU Chico in the late seventies as Rick with Eighth Ave. String Band. They used to play at a place called the something something Mining Co. They always brought the house down at Strawberry with their version of the William Tell Overture.
